I seem to have chronic issues with T-Mobile data. I’ll be out and about, have full bars, LTE, but no internet connection. Extremely frustrating. I’ve got service, but no network connection! Also, texts don’t seem to go through while this is happening, too - iMessage AND SMS.

I’ve toggled Cellular Data off/on - no help. Restart the device - no help. I do recall, a while back, calling T-Mobile about this issue and they did something like “refreshed/reset” my mobile data. Which seemed to work at the time, but this is happening all the time now.

I have an iPhone X. Does this sound more like an issue with my device or with T-Mobile??

Your area seems like it's just super congested. Have you tried switching to 4G and see if that helps instead?

No, I’ve never tried dropping down to 4G .....

No, I’ve never tried dropping down to 4G .....

If it is in fact simply a congestion issue, is it likely that I’d run into the same thing on any other carrier, including Verizon?

Just doesn’t seem like I should be having these issues. Or, maybe it’s not unusual - I don’t know. All I know is, it’s beyond frustrating.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but turn off Wi-Fi calling.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but turn off Wi-Fi calling.

I’d be open to doing this, but I need WiFi Calling to make calls inside the house I’m living in (there’s little to no service at all inside my house).

I wanted to come on here first and see what folks had to say before calling T-Mobile.

Something is not right. Doesn’t seem like this should be a chronic problem.

My sister on an iPhone X and on T-Mobile told me today she’s been having the same issue starting this morning. Idk but maybe it’s T-Mobile network issues today?

I don’t think it’s just today ... this happens to me on a regular basis.

I did a “Reset Network Settings” on my phone. We’ll see if that makes a difference.

I wonder if replacing my SIM card with a new one would be of benefit?

I’m in the Seattle/Tacoma area
Seattle is T-Mobile's back yard!!! I would say if any place was gonna have excellent coverage it is there. I also believe this will be one of the first cities that is getting full 5G deployment.

I had an issue where my phone showed LTE but I would get a pop up that said unable to connect to cellular data. T-Mo reset my network 3 times and nothing fixed the issue. I went through 2 iPhone 11’s thinking it was maybe bad service in my area or an Apple hardware issue. When I switched to the Pro and it still happened I knew that it couldn’t be Apple since I was on my third phone. Went to T-Mo and got a new SIM and have been fine since. Definitely get a new SIM.

It is kind of a pain, but you might try resetting your network settings. If that fixes it, you know it is likely a software issue. If not, try a new sim like the above poster suggested.

I have a launch day T-Mobile X and have never experienced this issue. I travel fairly extensively and have not seen this behavior anywhere yet.

TMobile is garbage indoors ( I have TMobile - postpaid ) which is why I ended up getting a second line with ATT.

Also, the sad fact that the newer iPhones have the POS Intel modem doesn’t help!

I would call TMobile and ask for a ‘CellSpot’ ( there’s no charge for this as long as you keep their service )

Statements like this that seem all encompassing "T-Mobile is garbage indoors" really is a disservice. It is an objective opinion for your specific area, phone, circumstance. It does not apply to everyone, everywhere. Every carrier will have issues of some sort in different places. This is why we are lucky enough to have options and can choose to get a better plan by one carrier or another. I have both Verizon and T-Mobile. Where I live there is one dead spot in my town for Verizon. If I said, Verizon is garbage outdoors, I would be right, but it leaves out a lot of context.

The only carrier that struggles in a lot of areas around the country is Sprint, but if you are using a 5G enabled phone in Houston, Sprint goes to the top of the list for carriers!! It is the only carrier at this point that reportedly covers an entire city in usable 5G frequencies, that is usable on a mobile device while moving around. With the other 3, you are pretty much stuck sitting in one spot, pointing your phone directly at the 5G transmitter.

Based on the following pics, I would disable roaming and try WiFi Calling. You don’t really need roaming unless you’re abroad. I’ve had WiFi Calling issue at home when I have one bar at home. Now, I have their cellular CellSpot which is like my own mini tower with zero issues in calls or data. You can do a network reset first.

Are you having this issue in specific or different area?

Yep, I’m definitely stopping in to get a new SIM.

Well, my WiFi Calling is always enables. I rely on to make/receive calls inside my house.

Data Roaming has always been enabled on every phone I’ve ever had. Never thought to turn it off because I’ve got an unlimited data plan. What will turning off Data Roaming do?

the issues/areas seem to be all over the place. I can’t isolate it to one spot. I experience the issue in the Seattle/Tacoma area and also in Southern California.

Another vote for getting a new SIM. I’ve experience similar issues and it was a bad SIM card.

I travel frequently (esp to Plano, TX and NYC ), and have met more than many people who share the same.exact.experience as mine. And, T Mobile's indoor penetration, or lack thereof, is well documented all over the web ( esp Reddit ).

Surprisingly, T Mobile works great up in the mountains here in CO ( even better than Verizon or ATT. Sprint doesn't even count ) but blows a huge dong indoors.

I have had similar issues with texts not showing up (sms only). Despite upgrading my phone from a 7 to the 11, some text issues still don’t come in.

this is especially annoying as I can’t verify my phone number with PayPal and other services.
