T-mobile doesn't have 4G in Atlanta. All they have is HSPA, Sprint does have 4g,tmobile only in 7 markets.

And yes their data is slow on 3g,but they don't get dropped calls like tmobile.

And how do you figure Verizon is third? Based on what?

Great drops, most reliable network, works everywhere when tmobile and att can't say the same

Hspa+ is considered 4G in the US. What are you talking about? Then even if you don't consider it 4G, what difference does it make when it's faster than Sprints 4G WiMAX and in par with its LTE?

I speak on Verizon from experience. I just had service with them on my iPhone 5 up until a month ago. I've had all the carriers within the past 2 years except Sprint because of how poor the 3G is and how limited their LTE coverage currently is. The stuff I'm saying is coming from personal experience with the networks not blogs or heresay.

The GSM networks worked better for me than the CDMA ones when I go there. Not saying Verizon was good too. Their service was reliable but I got better speeds with AT&T and Tmobile.

Your 1000% wrong as usual

Not wrong at all, I've had all 5 carriers and T-Mobile is the worst of them all in Atlanta

Hspa isn't really 4g, it's an enhanced 3g.

LTE is 4G.

I've had all carriers as well and found the GSM carriers to be inferior to the CDMA carriers due to the fact that when you go indoors, calls drop.

I have had t-mobile in phoenix for 3 years now. It has been fast and stable. I dont care if its not the fastest so long as it is fast enough for me. I had sprint previously in phoenix and they are terrible. Customer service is good but their speeds are horrible. I didnt go to verizon or at&t because of their pricing. I pay less and sometimes i get what i pay for but its fine with me as i dont travel much.

To avoid confusion:
HSPA = 3G
HSPA+ = 4G
Why is this, because ATT and T-Mobile are marketing it this way.

Some of the lte tech is base on 3G: so LTE does not automatically = 4G

What you're saying is the complete opposite of my experiences. Do you actually live *in* Atlanta? ...or do you live in one of the po'dunk outlying metro areas like Powder Springs or Gainesville?

I've live in the city (VaHi/Morningside), and i've lived in Roswell and Smyrna. I work in Doraville.

I live in the city as well, West side. I work in a mall. Always service issues

I go to Atlanta about twice a year. On my most recent trip in April I didn't have any issues with T-Mobile. I've always had AT&T before so I don't know if it use to be worse, but my recent experience was very positive.

Don't believe the coverage maps. They are far from accurate. If you are thinking about switching, sign up for a T-Mobile account without canceling/porting your current number to them and try.

Here are my results at my office in DC for T-Mobile vs AT&T.

But the people here swear up and down that AT&T/VZW are TERRIBLE and nothing beats TMobile. How dare you post your own speed tests!

Yep everything is anecdotal. AT&T LTE vs T-Mobile "4G", same exact location inside my house, same time of day, same iPhone 5.

For some of us T-Mobile just works better. Is it that hard to believe? You can also actually use your data while on a phone call. Everything varies by location when it comes to cell phone service.

But it's Apple's fault you can't use data on a call

Why not test it on the same server? It looks like they are all different

...on CDMA carriers, yes. On GSM, iPhone supports it just fine.

Alright here's all 4 again on the same Mooresville, NC server. For some reason with the AT&T sim card inserted the closer Charlotte, NC server isn't even an option. This Mooresville one is about 20 miles away and it's the second closest server but the results are still pretty similar.

No. Results vary widely which is why my point was (probably poorly explained) was not to beleive the coverage maps and to sign up and test for ones self before committing and switching.

You're in DC. How come your not getting T-Mobile LTE? Do you have their carrier file enabled?

Because TMobile's LTE deployment is still spotty and doesn't cover the entire city.

Wouldn't it be fair to test AT&T LTE to T-Mobile LTE? If you want to compare speeds? Also, are you using an AT&T unlocked iPhone or the unlocked version that supports AWS?

I had an unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 on T-Mobile and saw poor speeds. So I had my iPhone warranty swapped for a new unlocked version that sports AWS and I saw a significant increase in speed. My non LTE G4 speeds are comparable to AT&T's LTE speeds.

T-Mobile LTE is still rolling out. I say give it a month or 2 before claiming T-Mobile is bad.

You didn't answer if you are using T-Mobile's carrier profile? It's important to have that.

I use a T-Mobile iPhone 5, and so far, been the best thing ever. I hate Sprint, Verizon was too slow (CDMA 3G), and AT&T just cuts out when I pass that same firestation over and over.

I have been with TMo and went right back to them as soon as they got the iPhone. I can't believe I have ever left.
