The official Tmo iPhone wont go on sale until the 12th with pre-orders on the 5th. That model will work on all Tmo bands from 3G to LTE. This coming update on the 5th will add support to current iPhones, giving proper MMS and LTE connections. If you have an iPhone 5 currently on Tmo, you still cannot get on their 3G if your area has not been refarmed, you still would have to buy the new one.

Thank you!

It is a hardware revision. Therefore, people who purchased an unlocked 5 are out of luck...

Correct-ish

Viz voicemail etc are just software but if you buy the phone before the 12th when you aren't in a stable LTE area you'll fall back to edge. The hardware revision is to access the variant 3G that t-mobile uses.

Old iPhone 5 = LTE, 3G 1900mhz & Edge.
New iPhone 5 = LTE, 3G 1700mhz, 3G 1900mhz & Edge.

The recent resubmission of the AT&T version of iPhone5 indicates that it is exactly the same hardware wise. Whatever they are doing, it's through software trigger of enabling features based on serial number they have a database of.

Correct. :)

Actually, the FCC filing for the revised iPhone 5 model shows no hardware changes, just changes to the software.

Didn't know that... But the fact remains that Apple won't activate AWS 3G on the current AT&T iPhone, although they can.

Tmobile is great if you generally stay within the city limit. The last time I had Tmobile was couple years ago, I remember as I was driving on the backroad (about 30 miles of no gas station, very few houses around and no street lights) I had no signal for for the entire duration of the drive. Not to say that Tmobile was bad, it was actually better then ATT in my area. But in general Tmobile is lacking in less populated area.

Yeah they're not that good in rural areas you'll usually have Esgw out in the sticks. They're excellent in cities though. Sometimes better than Verizon.

Works great in the NOVA/DC area. Just went on a road trip from VA to MN...didn't have any issues the whole trip.

To each their own.

I highly doubt they will unlock it. Only way will be to buy the phone upfront.

Actually, despite what guy said in store, TM phone customer service says they will, after two months service, unlock for Euro nano-sim card

Crap. I have to decide by 8:00 tonight whether or not to cancel my new Verizon plan and go with T-Mobile or not. Currently paying $74 for 2G and 1k minutes. Would likely move to T-Mobile prepaid $30 plan with full price phone. Difference between plans and phone cost is $450 over 2 years.

Just don't want to have to port to Google Vpice today and then to T-Mobile on the 12th.

Pre-orders on the 5th?

Are we able to pre-order direct from Apple, or only T-Mobile? I'm very interested in driving to the US from Canada to pick one up for use here but obviously I want to pay full retail price and not pay for service there.

Apple requires carriers to include it at no additional cost. Others, like Android devices, don't, so companies like Verizon charge for Visual Voicemail.

This isn't correct. In Australia, out of the three 'major' carriers, one (Optus) doesn't support VVM at all, another (Vodafone) includes it on all plans for free, and finally, Telstra charges $5 a month for VVM (under the 'MessageBank Plus' name, though it's just iPhone VVM.
The service is charged at $5 per month and includes the delivery of voice messages to your iPhone within Australia which you can then playback at your leisure
http://exchange.telstra.com.au/?p=11872

Recently, some higher $/monthly plans have VVM included, but all lower plans still charge $5/month.

So no, Apple doesn't require carriers to include it at no cost.

So, it means we expect to get iOS 6.1.4 by 04/05/2013?
Not necessarily, you can update the carrier bundles independently of iOS firmware - every week your iPhone pings Apple to check for updates for carriers and FW.
If you have a T-Mobile SIM inserted, your phone will ping Apple checking for T-Mobile settings. If they're available and newer than the ones installed, your iPhone will prompt you to update.
Here's Apple's KB article on updating carrier bundles - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1970

Hi guys sorry if This has been asked and answered a million times, but will TMO's refarmed 1900 MHz light up the 3G in the factory-unlocked iPhone 4?, or is the refarm only for hspa+ in the 4S?

Yes the refram is for all iphones

Just to clarify, for those million plus unlocked iphOne users on t mobile now, you can get MMS working you just have to manually tweak some settings right??? I can't believe they were going without pic messaging all this time.

And I would assume one could do the same thing on simple mobile or straight talk right? But visual voicemail needs an actual software update from Apple to work?

We have not been going without MMS on the iPhones. One must just manually type in the settings. The same goes for simple mobile and straight talk.

I have the verizon unlocked IP5 will the new software update allow me to get 4G *either HSPA or LTE*
