I've got another question, if I have t mobile with 5Gb data, will this allow the lte toggle to be in my setting so I can tap into it or will I need to buy a different plan?

Obviously speed does not concern you. Maybe Verizon hits more markets (for now), but AT&T is much faster. And if you aren't on LTE, look out. Data speeds drop off considerably on Verizon. In fact, Verizon is the slowest of the four major US carriers in non-LTE markets.

AT&T is marginally faster. Sometimes. And Verizon will continue to be in more markets. Many more markets. Sure, saturation will eventually allow AT&T to catch up. But by then I am confident that Verizon's LTE speeds, which are plenty fast now will be every bit as good as AT&Ts. And when that happens Verizon will still be a good carrier, and AT&T will still be *****.

Probably not. This is a carrier update and not a firmware update. I believe the 4G AT&T indicator arrived with an iOS firmware update.

That was probably to put the actual 4G icon in the OS. Now that it's there, it can probably be displayed with a simple carrier settings update.

This could be bad news for jailbreakers. I just remembered one time on AT&T there was a carrier update and it required those running on the previous iOS version to update. I believe it was when AT&T enabled MMS.
