While on one hand, I appreciate T-Mo trying to not count the biggest offender of mobile data usage... on the other, this sure is starting to sound like the Satellite/Cable TV packages. "And for only 5 bucks more a month, such-and-such different streaming service also doesn't count against your data usage."

Yuck.

It's no increase in price. They're simply doubling the amount of data you get for your money vs the old plans, and video no longer counts towards it... given that video is currently responsible for ~50% of my data usage, I would say that realistically, this is closer to offering 4x as much data for the old prices.

I just moved and Comcast went from bad in my old apartment to worse in my new house. I'm estimating that within a year, I cut Comcast entirely and swap to online only for videos, and a cellular provider only for internet.

The problem I have with this is that it's going to encourage more people to stream on a cellular network that has a very limited amount of bandwidth, creating a very congested network and thus, slower cell traffic for everyone in the same area.

Tmobile should be focusing on improving its coverage first and build more cell towers with bigger capacity backend instead of pushing their current network to the limits.

Bye At&t.... nice knowing you

In every thread, whenever T-Mobile does something like this, there are people that post stuff like this. Good luck!

TMobile is doing big things and shaking up the industry!!!

What people fail to realize is, THEY HAVE to do stuff like this to get customers. T-Mobile service is terrible anywhere that matters, for the most part. I doubt T-Mobil will ever have a network that could go head to head with the big 2.

I hope AT&T and Verizon are watching...

They're watching T-Mobile and laughing because of what they have to do in order to get more customers. Verizon and AT&T have nothing to worry about and won't change anything because of this. It sucks but that's how it works when your one of the two largest, best networks in the US.

This might've been true a few years ago but I have T-Mobile in western MA and the service is fantastic.

So basically you have to web search hard core to use data.. Music and video streaming are free.....insane!

Keep throwing your money at Verizon and AT&T. Maybe they will be your friend!

Please please please expand your network to compete with the big 2 outside of major metros.

They'll scale down to 480p with their binge on watching service. Well, I guess if you're not paying for unlimited video streaming, you can't really complain about the quality of the video, right? Or you can just turn the binge on video off and then I guess you'll have access to higher quality video but it will count against your LTE data bucket?

Where was additional money brought up?

There's no increase in price, yet. But I've been burnt by wireless providers plenty of times to not trust them. (I sure hope T-Mo will be different.) My problem is with them prioritizing *any* data over others. Now they have control over the services you use. They support Netflix. What if I wanted Amazon Prime Video, but amazon was unwilling to 'partner' with them? Too bad for us, because it's not part of their plan. I'm not a fan of giving some data a free ride and other none.

They just stated it will be no congestion everything will be optimized

I could never get a LTE signal or even a 3G signal at my house here in Denver with AT&T and Verizon. I had to move to T-Mobile to FINALLY get service where I live. It is outstanding. I tested out at 60Mbps at noon today whereas AT&T would get me 0.5 Mbps.

T-Mobile may be bad in some areas but your post is wrong. It is not bad everywhere that matters. Everywhere I go from Denver to Boulder to Aurora, I have outstanding service.

This is nice. for the people that use TMo and now have more "free" data to use.

ATT and Verizon don't care. they aren't losing enough people to TMo or Sprint to notice and decided to make any changes to their subscribers' plans.

I have thought about switching to T-Mobile but then heard coverage was spotty...it can already be spotty where I normally am with the Big 2. But, good to see them put some pressure on the other wireless providers ...even if nothing is being done right now.

That's a depressing way to look at it. I think I'm going to keep my hopes up. lol

man I'm with AT&T but damn T-mobile seems awesome. Im sure their coverage is good in the nj / nyc area but still not sure about switching.
