TM's cost of the products is no doubt much less than the $30 number. That is the street value of what they are giving away; not what they pay. I would not be surprised if many of thefreebie's cost were absorbed by the supplier as an advertising cost since they now have the potential of reaching millions of T-MOBILE subscribers and getting a bunch of data on buying habits and response rates for future marketing efforts.

I could not d/l the app so I have a question: must the freebies be used on Tuesday's? If so, they are building traffic on a slow day so it doesn't cut into revenue on high sales days; for example how many people go to a movie on Tuesday vs the weekend? Depending on the contract with the movie distributed the free ticket may have no cost since it adds no revenue and theatres often split the revenue from ticket sales with the distributor and not pay on a per person basis.

In addition, the additional traffic will bring in some increase in sales of high margin products such as drinks and popcorn; or soda and breadsticks along with a pizza. Most people who use the freebies aren't likely to change their basic buying habits, so if they usually get a soda they probably still will. Some may even buy more since they have not spent money on a pizza or ticket.

In the end, I'd be surprised if the promotion costs TM much money relative to revenue.

Now we are entering speculation territory moreso than before since non of us have numbers ( assuming they make those public at TMO or these partners )

That aside normally Tuesday ONLY But supposedly ( according to some confirmed by the app to a degree ) the date was extended thru 5am this Thursday ( local time at whatever location you're redeeming it )

Anyways I'm mostly done and over this topic and thread ( mostly this thread ).

We shall see what happens in the coming weeks, months , years etcetera

Exactly....I bet T-mobile pays nothing for this. They might even get paid. T-mobile Tuesdays is nothing but advertising for the partners. I'll bet a lot of people picking up their free Frosty order a burger first. Or those renting a free movie on Vudu go on to rent more paid movies (after creating an account in the process of redeeming the free movie). The app gets you in the door, gets you to sign up for an account, etc. Cheap customer acquisition for the partners and T-mobile looks like a good guy for giving it to us! Pretty brilliant marketing.

How's coverage at Disneyland? I am from southern NH, but we go to Disneyland at least once a year, and that is where I use data the most (and one of the reasons I am looking to switch from Verizon - between Disneyland and my YouTube addicted daughter, I've recently had to start playing the "shutting your cellular data off on every app until the end of the month" game with her.)

The coverage typically shows that its good and I have never had a problem with making phone calls. The one problem is that the Data seems to be overloaded because sometimes if congested its almost unusable. On lighter days you have better luck with data. At California Adventure the coverage is great.

I'm an Annual Pass holder so we tend to go at least 10 times a year. I wish the data issue was better

All you naysayers call it whatever you like, first and foremost I call it jealousy on your part.
After 18+ years with AT&T, I never got anything but more fees and higher rates. T-Mobile has provided me with better service at lower cost.

As for wi-fi, a lot depends on where you are. Most major hotel chains offer wifi, often for free if you are a member of their loyalty clubs (which are free to join) as well as many malls, Starbucks, etc.

As for 30 gig plans there are high data plans but are usually $60 or more for 30 days.

Maybe things improved int he past couple of years but I recall Starbucks/Hotel Wi-fi being painfully slow, also I remember you had to pay for Wifi access at hotels.

the 30GB plan at $60 sounds a lot better.

Just downloaded the app. I hope they offer a free ticket to the Independence Day sequel coming out later this month so if it sucks, I can say well, at least I didn't have to pay for it. Looking forward to some better freebies than the ones offered this week. I hope in a future Uncarrier event, T-Mobile adds 3G/LTE data speeds as part of their international data feature. Last time I visited Europe (2014), the slower data speeds were fine for email, texting and social media, but browsing the web was a little irritating in some places.

Oddly enough, I've never had to pay for Wi-Fi access when staying at a hotel. But I very rarely do so as I don't travel often. The speed of the connection at a hotel is definitely affected by their size and number of guests. I've had a dismal 1.5 Mbps all the way up to 25, so your mileage can definitely vary. I usually don't use free hotspots due to my data plan, so can't comment about Starbucks/McDonalds/etc.

whats your data plan, with which company, and how much do you pay?

Many hotels offer free wifi to rewards members, so be sure to sign up for that for each hotel chain you visit. Speeds can vary widely, and Marriott offers 2 tiers of service at different prices if you are not a Rewards member, who get the highest speed for free depending on their status.

I'm in a large family plan. So our bill is ~$280 a month, but that's for 7 phones and two tablets. I have unlimited data through T-Mobile. I have the older plan that only cost $30 for the unlimited data, and my base plan (unlimited call/text) would have been $50 before adding in the rest of my family. I believe that it's $45 for new subscribers to get unlimited data on their line.

I would doubt that my plan is typical at this point due to the size of the plan and the wide range of data limits involved. My brother and I are both unlimited at $30 each. My other two siblings and our parents have 2GB each (included in the monthly cost). My Aunt has 4GB I believe. And the two tablets each have 3GB. The tablets and my aunt I think are $20 each.

When my fiancée and I get our own plan, I intend to keep us with T-Mobile, even though it'll likely cost more than sticking with the giant family plan. I expect it will still be cheaper than all but maybe Sprint.
