VMM still isn't working for me... anybody have any tips? I've talked to three different T-Mobile reps and they don't seem to know what I'm saying. A couple of them are telling me I can't get VMM on an iPhone 4 which I'm 99% sure is ********.

Same issue here. I'm in Southern California, and getting EDGE now in areas where I was able to pick up 3G/4G before. Something odd going on.

Maybe T-Mo is updating (refarming) cell sites in your area... MAYBE!!!

BTW: where in So Cal??? I'm always between San Diego and Los Angeles. I get my Micro SIMs tonight... Yay!!!

That's more like it!

No CMAS options in the Notifications in iPhone 3GS...

My cousin has iPhone 5 and she can see the CMAS options in the notification page in Settings... Too bad if I cannot get CMAS in my 3GS

Just talked to ANOTHER T-Mobile rep about VMM not working on my iPhone 4. He told me that no iPhones on T-Mobile support VMM, including the iPhone 5. What?!

I might just go back to YouMail since this is turning into such a headache...

The ignorance is astounding. You'll probably have luck at a T-Mobile store on the 12th or after. Surely (I hope) they would know about Visual Voicemail on the iPhone.

Well, that's just BS! I have been using the VVM on my iPhone 5 since the update....And it ROCKS!

I will admit that I have talked to some real arsholes about problems with the Personal Hotspot at T-Mobile CS over the past couple days though. Thankfully it has rectified itself.

Factory Unlocked iPhone 4S @ appledatabase.com for $5.99 (i takes to 24 hrs, but very cheap)

I added Carrier Update... everything (features) works great!!!

LOCATION:
San Diego, CA. google zip code: 92123 (south for me) to 92011 (home) to 92069 (east... university for me)

BAD THING:

I get very spotty 4G... mainly on EDGE!!! Sometimes, I get the "No Service" too

GOOD THING:

I haven't canceled my AT&T Service (didn't port number, got temp new numbers for testing)

I'll test this weekend... Monday will be my decision: T-Mo vs AT&T for me

T-Mo is much cheaper: $280 per month for six iPhones
AT&T: $450-$550 per month for six iPhones (2 have grandfathered Unlimited Data, 4 have the 3GB Data and go over sometimes)

***Saving $$$ is great, but I make $$$ by Mobile availability... I'm always on my iPhone: I use over 3500 minutes Talk, over 15GB Data, and over 1800 text....... 4G is VIP for me (so I can Talk and Web/iMessage at same time)... if not, it's worthless

Plugged my iPhone 4S in to my Mac and iTunes did the carrier update. I'm now getting 4G. Nice!! :)

You are getting the same speeds are before. It just shows 4G instead of 3G now since you are using HSPA+. The carrier update changed the display only.

Not really!!! After update, you go from 2G (EDGE) to T-Mo's 3G/4G (if in refarmed area) cell sites... So there is an improvement!!!

Unfortunately for me, it seems San Diego, CA. has not been completely refarmed; so I get very spotty 4G!!! Good thing is I have a T-Mo Sonic 2.0 with 4G LTE HotSpot in my car (for my iPads & laptops)... So I'm usually on WiFi

I can't get mms to work on my iphone 4. Vvmail works fine but no mms. When I try to send an image it says my phone number is needed. When I go to my setting my number is "unlnown". I try to enter it and when I hit save it says my number can't be saved.

Help?

No, you don't need the update to get 3G in those areas.

Maybe, but unfortunately, I only get either 2G (EDGE) or 4G... My AT&T iPhone 4S has not worked on 3G at all!!! Why? Who knows, but it doesn't.

Gave up on Tmobile for now

Well my excitement didn't last very long, earlier this week I ported back to AT&T. The funny thing is how quick AT&T ported the line back, it took literally minutes, took tmobile hours.

Anyway in the area where I'm using the iphone5 tmobile just doesn't cut it, getting an Edge data connection which is just too slow in various parts of NJ. AT&T on the other hand offers me either LTE or 4G in the same areas. I hope tmobile continues the upgrades and perhaps towards the end of the year or in a few months i'll try it again. The other thing that tmobile really needs to do is come up with an app like AT&T has for reporting service issues (called Mark The Spot). It is a waste for both the consumer and the carrier when you call in and tell them that you have no service, poor service, slow data, etc in a certain area. Nothing really happens, it seems they have no way of properly tracking or doing anything with the info you give them. For those not familiar with it, the Mark The Spot app allows you to easily send a report to the carrier about service issues like slow data, dropped calls, no service, etc. It sends the carrier GPS data about your location, diagnostic data, etc. It works even if you have no service by capturing all the details and then allowing you to send the report later. I use the app all the time with AT&T to send them reports and they do look at this stuff and address issues, they also give you updates through the app about the areas where you reported issues, service news, etc. All carriers should have something like this, I would really like to see tmobile onboard with an app like this, they really need it and both the customer and tmobile would benefit greatly from it as they would get more accurate data from customers to be able to concentrate their efforts in certain areas.

The other area they really need to work on is their support, I found no way of contacting them via email which I find more convenient that any other method. I found no way of sending any sort of feedback which I wanted to. Their chat service was a disaster, I had a hard time getting through and had to fill out the form each time I wasn't able to get through because no agents were available. When I did get through I did have them file a ticket about service in my area (the fact that there was 4G service but phone was locking onto Edge because the signal was stronger and rarely locking onto 4G) and no 4G at another location although they are supposed to have 4G service there as well. I never heard back although I was told someone would get back to me, this is a perfect reason why they need an app like AT&T's mark the spot. With AT&T I can easily send them an email or chat with them, I was even able to chat with the porting department when I was looking to port to tmobile. Making improvements in this area will greatly benefit tmobile and the customers. Believe it or not I do not like AT&T at all, their service costs me too much and their customer service is not the greatest but they do have allot of advantages over tmobile at least for me right now based on all the things they have in place. I look forward to a better tmobile in the near future, i'll be ready to hop over when that happens.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.. I know there is a lot of confusion out there as to what TMo services will work on what phones.. but the way I understand it, their 3G service is on the 1700mhz AWS band (also the band they rolled out their LTE on), the refarmed 4G HSPA+ 21 is on the 1900mhz band and then there is the other AWS 1700/2100 HSPA+ 42.. then, a bunch of Edge bands..

So unlocked ATT iPhones only get the Edge and 1900mhz refarmed 4G HSPA+ 21 (4S's will only use that up to like 14Mb/s).. In order to use Tmo's real 3G and faster 1700/2100 HSPA+ 42, you need one of the iPhone 5's that just rolled out with the modem firmware updated..

Prior to the carrier update, I'm pretty sure that all the 1900MHZ 4G showed up as 3G on the iPhone, but you still were getting the same speed. (the 4G badge was something that rolled out with the carrier update, which did nothing to the modem firmware..)

No confusion... You're right on all points!!!

Guys can we use Field test mode to check what band the iPhone 5 is connected to? there is tons of confusion among new and old A1428 users....because a good portion of users are getting their iPhones replaced and saying that they they have received a "Tweaked" model as replacement...

Those that got the new T-Mobile iPhone 5 please report your model numbers to help us & future owners by sharing your model number:
