MMS not working

I can't get my MMS to work at all. Obviously MMS works for iMessage (using data) but the MMS to send to a non iPhone doesn't work. I've tried fast.t-mobile.com and also internet2.voicestream.com as the MMS APN and restarted multiple times.

Data APN: fast.t-mobile.com and also tried epc.t-mobile.com (data works fine)
LTE: blank
APN: (tried both as mentioned above)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Size: 1048576
everything else in MMS blank.

Factory unlocked iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.0 Jailbroken

anyone else have the same issue?

Update: I found out it was because I didn't have data connection from the t-mobile towers and I was on Edge. It doesn't use WiFi to send MMS to a non-iPhone obviously, but i never realized even though i had 3 bars, I could call, I could send SMS, and was on edge, but no tower data so it couldn't send a MMS even though WiFi was working perfectly.

For those who got the carrier update and want to get the hotspot option back, you can simply restore the phone. After the restore, you can restore a backup BUT only if the backup was before the carrier update. You will then get the prompt to update the carrier settings if you go to settings/about. The carrier update is only software so it changes nothing hardware wise.

Also, if you are on 6.1.2 or below, you will have no choice but to install 6.1.3 losing your JB.

Confused

I kid you not, I just called AT&T and was about to pull out the tmobile sim card and insert back the AT&T sim and port back as the service (mainly data speed) was just not cutting it for me right now (was just getting slow/unreliable Edge). The interesting thing is that the location where i'm at right now I just get an Edge connection but if I launch the speedtest.net app all of a sudden it switches to 4G and stays there, and I get a decent test speed (58 ms ping, 4.95Mbps down/1.54Mbps up). I even received a call while on 4G (hung up on AT&T and they called me back :) Now so far it's hanging on 4G in the same area where before it would always stay on Edge. This change literally happened in minutes. Now if the same thing happens down the shore tomorrow I will be very pleased. Could this just be that Tmobile is doing some tower fine tuning now that they can actually accommodate iphones accordingly and they have lots more coming their way? I just found this really odd. So tmobile is safe for now, I want to see what happens tomorrow or maybe i'll keep testing for a little longer before I decide to go back to AT&T. I'm very excited about being able to save a couple bucks.

Now if tmobile could only come up with an app like AT&T has called mark the spot that would be really awesome and ultimately would benefit tmobile. The app allows an end user to report coverage/data issues and gathers gps location as well as other data.

UPDATE: It's odd, it's back to Edge and staying there. Now mind you i'm indoors and in the same spot as before, not even moving around. Can't seem to make it lock to 4G although the signal looks pretty good.

Wow! What phone are you using?

iPhone5, the last one 33 down 16 up is at my ex-wifes house. Unfortunately where I live and work is at worst Edge indoors (although wifi) and here's one from home, which seems to strangely swap between 4G and LTE, although this is LTE:

I was fortunate enough to get 3G at my house and surrounding areas, but since this carrier update, I'm now stuck on Edge everywhere. Blah.

I've been checking and staring at this thread for 4 days, and have read all (now) 18 pages of comments.

Can anyone with an AT&T iPhone 4 tell me what your experience has been? Are you able to connect to a version of t-mobile's network that offers similar speeds to AT&T's 3G network?

I'm this close to switching and have been waiting 4 days for one of you to post an iPhone 4 on t-mobile update with a success story.

Any info would be helpful!

Sincerely,
An iPhone 4 user who's ready to make the jump!!!

VISUAL... VOICEMAIL ;)

it didnt work at first for me, and let it sit for like 30 mins and bam all 19 voicemails i got a never listened popped up,i hopelessly checked and glory pure magenta glory spread all over me!

This is bull.

I signed up for unlimited 4G two weeks ago with T mobile.

I specifically asked and was told that 500 MB hot spot was included. This was confirmed in the shop and on the phone. It worked. I tested it several times.

After update today, it no longer works.

T mobile are now saying there are in fact two plans. Yes, their advertising about no contracts and making everything simple is bull.

They are now saying that there are two plans pre paid and post paid. Apparently I am on pre paid and don't get the hot spot more anymore for the unlimited 4G option.

You can check their web site. Add a new plan with a new phone and you get access to 500MB on hot spot it says it.

----------

Where does it say mobile hotspot is an option specifically for the prepaid (month-to-month) $70 plan (Unlimited 4G)? According to this it isn't:

Just been arguing about this with t mobile on phone. Their staff suck btw. I cant understand them half the time.

Apprantly T mobiles contracts about simplifying everything is bull.

There are two unlimited 4G plans for 70 bucks. When is post paid and one pre-paid. The difference between them is one gets 500MB hot spot the other doesn't. I had this feature for two weeks until today.

----------

Ok, so not even 500 mb for free?

No it is an option. Apperantly there are two plans. One is post and one pre. Don't ask me why this is. I thought T mobile was simplifying contracts.

I wouldn't update if you have an iphone 4, rather have free tethering than visual voicemail. Data speed is gonna be the same, with or without the update.

Happy with mine here in santa monica. I have had speeds much faster than ATandT. Hit 8 MBps recently. Never got near that on AtandT. So far so good.

I took a screen shot just now - go to new plans on the t mobile web site. Also, I know 100% for a fact I had it two weeks ago, and they said I had it. Im going back to the shop tomorrow and talk to the guy at the shop - he saw it as well, and we tested it. Thre are two types of plan apprantly, post and pre., pre doesn't get it post does.

I am using an iPhone 4 on T-Mobile. 3G is comparable to AT&T where I am at in Ann Arbor Michigan. However, T-Mobile's 3G isn't always compatible with the iPhone, but it has been refarming its network to increase compatability.

If your iPhone is unlocked buy a T-Mobile Sim and buy a month.

Thanks everyone! This definitely helps. Finally!!

I'm using iPhone4 from AT&T. I switched from Straight Talk to T-Mo about 3 weeks ago, and so far, I HATE it. I knew I live in its Edge area, so I did not expect 3G speed. However, even in the 3G area, I don't get a good speed. And this is even after the carrier update!

I am seriously switching back to ST... Let me know if anyone has an idea to improve the connectivity.

I have a 4s and 3Gs from ATT on TMo. Got the carrier update on both. 4g icon, Visual Voicemail and a noticeably stronger signal.... same download speeds on both devices. Now I am in Houston where TMo has been refarming spectrum for 6 months, so I've been pretty lucky with service, but was not getting 3g indoors until yesterday (now 4g). Probably a 30% boost in speed. My hotspot option came back in about 30 minutes after carrier update. So far, I'm really happy with the update.

I'm guessing if you are not in 3g area, then when you do go into one you are on the outskirts of it. If that's the case the signal will be weak until you get closer in. The fact that you are getting 3g means you are in an area that TMo is refarming so you are likely to get better speeds in the very near future. I have found that going into airplane mode and then back out will sometimes get me a better connection when I lose 3g. Since the carrier update, no problems keeping a 4g connection. Including places I used to get no services (gym, locker room, indoor pool area and known dead areas).

I just got the alert for a carrier update. I hit update and nothing happened. I am on a jailbroken iPhone 5

T-Mobile must be tweaking things in the Dallas, TX area.

I normally get around 5.7 Mbps consistently at home. I was driving around the area earlier and noticed I was on Edge the entire time (never happened before). Figured they were updating things. Got home and did a speed test. Now I get a little less than 9 Mbps. More than with my AT&T U-Verse (up to 6 Mbps)

Are you sure nothing happened lol? because this isnt the normal firmware updates you are used to, this update literally takes 3 seconds to complete, and then you have to manually reboot to access visual voicemail

Things are not as they seem...

Did the carrier update yesterday, and at work (downtown San Francisco, south of Market ) my coverage is "worse".

- I'm EDGE at mt desk with 0.15mbps speed tests where before I was 3G and 3-4mbps up and down

- iMessage now barely works at my desk, most of my messages default to SMS

- I had 3G coverage in the subway stations downtown (at least on the BART level) and I only have EDGE now. At Embarcadero station this morning I had NO service.

It's interesting to note, however, that this only appears to be a problem in downtown San Francisco and out in the East Bay everything is behaving as expected with the exception of now my upload speed (according to speed test) is slower.

Anyone know if FaceTime works on 3G/4G/LTE???

Move to a T-Mo Coverage Area... LOL #
(Sorry for joke, just had to say it)

The truth, no idea #
