Just drive from Jacksonville to Atlanta and you will see there are several areas that still show no service for t-mo.

That is not acceptable to me.

...What route did you take? T-Mobile is 100% LTE along I-95/10/75 from Jacksonville to Atlanta which, AFAIK, is the standard, fastest route that most people take. Band 2 is 10x10 with minimum download speeds of around 20Mbps.

I am (now) a TMO customer (was a long tiem ATT), but I will say that, especially paying the same monthly rate for the same amount of data, you would have to twist my arm to go to TMO. We are saving $80 a month over ATT and getting more data, so switching was a no brainer, but I do see areas of 4G rather than LTE more regulalry than I would like. I have seen no service too, but ATT got that in areas as well here.

You can always try TMO and see if it works for you. They wont charge you anything if you decide to keep the service. At worst you are out the time (and a credit check if you pick a new device).

Or sign up for their test drive they will provide a phone for free.
This plan was canceled. THey now have you set up a line like normal, but if you decide not to keep it you are out nothing.

Why you didn't use John Legere's imagination map? :) I have couple spots next to my place with no service, it show in building connection on the map. Should I knock somebodies door to allow me in to make a call ? :)
I am the first to admit that inside my house there are some spotty areas. Wifi calling has completely alleviated this issue. Some may not be happy with that, but it absolutely works for me. At first I was skeptical and wasn't happy with it but now I don't even notice.

There's a Target that is a complete dead spot on ATT (but the coverage shows no issue) and yet TMO gets two bars. Vice versa in Costco. The reality is that a map is a guidelione on any carrier. I always recommend people forget the maps and test the network in real world use.

You are out the credit check regardless if you opt for the post paid service even if you do bring your own phone.

In my metro area in terms of speed, VZ is tops followed by TMO then att. But for crucial areas in terms of full service required, TMO doesn't cut it. There are just a few low to no service points that I can't live with.

I didn't realize they ran a credit check just to start no contract service. Good to know.

I

I feel like in Florida, there is not really any out of town. Idk this is tough.

Dunedin Florida, and I tried T-Mobil for a day. Edge most of the time, bad penetration into my home, so I returned it and staying with Verizon. Unknown about AT&T

That are looks to be covered fairly well by T-Mobile, especially with the addition of band 12 LTE. I wonder if you were using a proper device?

Its a completely new network from a year ago
Agreed. Even since getting my 6S+/6S, I have noticed these phones greatly improve the service even more. There was about a two mile region out of the entire Broomfield/Arvada/Westminster/Denver area where I could not get LTE. Since getting my new iPhones, I can now get LTE in that small area.

T=Mobile is outstanding and I could never go to AT&T where I could not get even 3G at my house in all these years. I have the 4 lines/10GB data for $120.

I'll vouch for AT&T not being as good as it used to be in NYC, but T-Mobile was also pretty bad for me too - no signal at all in and around work (midtown Manhattan) as of a week ago. It depends on the area.

Verizon is proving the best service for me and that's not saying much.

Mileage may vary for every user.

To answer the OP's question. I wouldn't switch.

Here's my anecdote for NYC... Just spent the week for Christmas staying near Times Square and never had an issue with T-Mobile. In fact it was way faster than the "high speed" wifi in our hotel.

We switched from ATT to T-Mobile when the new iPhones were released and couldn't be happier. We are paying the same amount per month but went from 1GB of shared data to 10GB per line.

Glad they worked for you. They didn't for me 2x. Different strokes, you know?

I have been testing T-Mobile for over a week. The plan would be $45 for unlimited everything not $60. My data speeds in Orlando overall are faster with T-Mobile. However, I did travel on US 17 heading to Punta Gorda and did lose LTE a few time and had no service. ATT is better in rural, but T-Mobile seems better in the city... Hmmm

Which device were you using? Looks like their cell site density isn't that great along HWY-17, but you should've at least had EDGE service.

I was using an iPhone 6s. I did drop to edge as well.. Att at least had 4G

I happen to have a side job at T-Mobile. After many years with AT&T, I must admit, they're really the same. There were areas, where AT&T sucked and areas, where T-Mobile isn't getting any respectable speeds. It honestly comes down to test driving each network. I still prefer ATT just because the times it slows down happens less than T-Mobile. TMo's value is great as long as you're able to actually use it.

How long ago did you try? Its a completely new network from a year ago

It was about a year ago that I tried T-Mobil and Sprint. I had the iPhone 5s at that time. Didn't want to take the chance again for awhile until there was feed back for my area.

I'd place 80% of the blame on the 5s, even without band 12 support.

The phone i used was a 5S as well on my first test (about two years ago). it is important to note that there are multiple versions of the 5S, most of which are not the TMO "version". There are actually bands (not band 12, all are missing band 12) that are missing on some of the earlier releases of the 5S. I think the "TMO version" was released about halfway into its lifecycle.

I could look this all up but I am unsure it is relevant at this point lol.

As far as I know, all 5S's have all the bands used by T-Mobile. The iPhone 5 lacked band 4 WCDMA/UMTS which was eventually added in an updated model.

I switched over to T-Mobile a few days. Location is Orange County & Los Angeles, CA. Right now I am using an iPhone 6 (as my 6S isn't unlocked yet). Service is roughly the same but slightly worse. Indoor penetration being the biggest issue. In my friends house and in the gym I get no service where AT&T was 1 bar. Although to be fair my friend has Verizon and while he gets service in his house, he doesn't get any in the gym either. They say the 6S with the 700Mhz Band 12 is supposed to improve indoor penetration. As-is I am still happy enough with my service to keep it over AT&T because of price difference. Can't wait to get my 6S unlocked and then see the real performance of the network.

You are right. Looking back I think the iPhone 5 is what had issues for some. I didn't think it was that wrong ago, but I guess it has been!

When I visted family in Ventura county and LA county last october I was floored by the speeds and the coverage. My in-laws had switched, but they don't generally care too much about data and all that so I didn't know if their review was worthwhile (this was when we decided to test TMO to see if areas where we frequent were tolerable). I wish I lived back in SoCal right now. I had zero complaints.
