You are right. Looking back I think the iPhone 5 is what had issues for some. I didn't think it was that wrong ago, but I guess it has been!
As far as I know, all 5S's have all the bands used by T-Mobile. The iPhone 5 lacked band 4 WCDMA/UMTS which was eventually added in an updated model.
Slightly in correct. T-Mobile needed aws bands in the iPhone 5 (both upload and download) hspa plus 1700/2100.

Apple "tweaked" the A1428 version of the iPhone 5 in April 2013 to fully support T-Mobile.

So SOME iPhone 5 are compatible with T-Mobile network.

T Mobile does not count a number of music streaming sites against your data limit (if you have one). Apple Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Google Play for instances........I also took advantage of the try before you buy deal. I liked T Mobile but there are too many dead areas for me. And where I work did not present a good signal compared to AT&T so I changed to AT&T. I don't like AT&T data plans as much. $50 more if you go from 5gb to 15gb and there is no in between.
