Who cares if the reception is garbage especially indoors. I'm sure some will argue that their reception is fine but we don't all live in your world :)

My mom lives in Fort Lauderdale, and maybe a week ago, she had no service. My mom had previously been with Sprint, and recently they migrated her over to T-Mobile's network. I called the T-Mobile rep for her and rep said my mom lives in a "degraded service area." I ask the rep what does she mean by "degraded service area" and she says that means during certain times there will be no service.

Basically, sometimes she'll get service and sometimes she won't.

I live in the technological armpit of America where technology arrives about five years late, I’m happy if I can get one megabyte per second download through LTE with T-Mobile.

T-Mobile has been great. In some random areas on road trips service gets spotty but in my normal areas I have no complaints at all

Did they come to Phoenix? Because T-Mobile is slow AF in Phoenix.
where in Phoenix do you live, I work in Buckeye I get over 400 down and almost 100 up. Must be your phone Also , in Chandler and Gilbert I get over 800 down and 200 up.

Because most Verizon customers that are on 5G are on their low-band coverage and they charge you extra for Ultra Wideband. It's a shame.
If you are a Spectrum cable customer, you are eligible for the Spectrum Mobile service which uses Verizon’s towers. $39.95 monthly service (tax/fees included in that price), unlimited data, and UWB data and tethering is included in that price. Zero frills included in that price, but I ported from VZW and saw no change in service.

Ditched Verizon for T-Mobile years ago, never had a problem and the signal has only improved in my area of PA. They’re not perfect, but they fix all my issues and hand out bill credits when Netflix is lying in wait to charge you when you make changes to your plan. Yes, Netflix auto-charges you when you make any changes to your cell plan.

They‘ve turned on their high end 5G out here too. It almost kills my Spectrum 400 down package.

Verizon is also trash here in Texas. You lose reception even driving across the city, and of course between towns. I understand that large portions of the state are sparsely populated, in those cases I accept it, but it is bad even within large metro areas.

I consider Verizon’s low band 5G fake even though it is technically considered real 5G. VZW/VZW MVNO’s need to look for the UW symbol on the 5G icon, which is how you know when you are connected to real 5G service that can provide speed, low latency, and capacity.

It sounds like your mom needs to be looking for another wireless carrier since it appears T Mobile is going to be unable to reliably service her home.

Speed versus Coverage

I'd rather have good coverage and average speeds... instead of ultra-fast speeds but I have to stand in one spot.

Basically... speed doesn't matter if you're in a dead zone. They should fix the coverage first and then worry about speed.

:p

I have Verizon Fios internet and TV, and honestly it's been so reliable a great for us I'd never consider switching. I know Spectrum offers fiber, but you know that saying if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Been using it at least 12 years now, switched from Optimum (formally cablevision). We must've called them at least once every couple months for an issue.

T-Mobile here in Portland has gotten significantly better over the last year. The reception is better and the speeds are easily double what they were previously. Dead spots on i5 throughout the middle of nowhere Oregon seem to have dropped as well.

Xfinity/Spectrum Mobile are a better deal than Verizon Wireless if you are unable to get FWA at your address. Once FWA is availble at your address VZW is going to be a better deal when you factor in the multi line discounts.
