Steve Jobs said many foolish things in his time.

Oh god yes, but this isn’t about Steve Jobs. I assure you also that where, (I believe), Apple slips up I am sure to mention it. Look at my post history, I have been called a troll/Apple hater many times, (I have significantly more APPL products than your average person).

fair enough

Those are some pretty impressive gains for T-Mobile. Hopefully they'll join the ranks of Verizon and AT&T given enough time.

I hope they remain an underdog. They'll just turn into verizon if they get as big as them.

I think John Legere is one hell of a CEO and I T-Mobile has done an incredible job shaking up the wireless industry.

That being said, T-Mobile's service (coverage-wise) is atrocious, I switched from Sprint (a really bad service provider in its own right) and I was impressed with the data speeds in the few areas that I had solid coverage but I had such little coverage that I ultimately switched to Verizon when I got my iPhone 6 and haven't looked back.

Verizon and AT&T are the only good carriers in the US and while they're pricier than T-Mobile and Sprint, you definitely get what you pay for.

Yeah, in general. But for some they can get good coverage from a smaller carrier for a fraction of the price, so it's better for them.

He's like Amazon's Jeff Bezos, a market disruptor. We need more risk taking CEOs to make competition favor the consumer.

In my opinion, the only other CEO out there today that's as much a market disruptor as Jeff Bezos and John Legere is Elon Musk.

Guys like these come into established markets and really shake things up and its great for consumers, competition is a good thing.

I'm actually looking forward to switching from AT&T to T-Mobile in the next couple of weeks, thanks John Legere!

(Full disclosure, I am currently holding a long position in TSLA)

Was with him right up until he said stores without the iPhone were s!£*
I have an iPhone and I like it.
Others for reasons I cannot quite get prefer Android and that's fine. I don't think they are **** though.
Can't take him seriously.

His point seemed to be if you don't offer the iPhone you're ****, not that everything else is ****. The iPhone separated the tier 1 carriers from everyone else for a long time. It didn't matter if you actually ended up buying an iPhone or not; like car buying there's a halo effect to just having it available. I don't read his statement as disparaging other devices, though.

This guy is the main reason I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile. I sold my unlimited Verizon plan for $600 once the iPhone 6 was announced, and now my bill is half of what it used to be. Customer service has been great, especially their Twitter support.

I'll mention that their iPhone launch was absolutely terrible, but so was everyone else's. T-Mobile wouldn't even let new customers buy the phone online, only existing members.

If T-Mobile service is good in your area, this guy is a great reason to switch. CEOs like this are very rare and need to be supported.

Yup. The year we get any amount of T-Mobile service here, I'll be switching from AT&T.

Wow, they actually gave preference to their existing customers over new customers. Frankly, that is darn refreshing in a networking company.

I like the stuff that T-Mobile is doing. I like their ads. I like this CEO. If I wasn't so all in on Verizon and the service wasn't so solid, I'd switch. I'm keeping myself off contract on Verizon to keep that option open. But I have a lot of devices and don't know how well all of them would switch over to T-Mobile. I think the iPhone 6 would switch over fine. But I'm not sure about older iPads.

I love Legere, his appearances are almost always must-see.

I'd love to switch to TMobile, but the coverage is still just meh. I unlocked my 5S after upgrading and popped in a TMo SIM and its a LOT better than what it was a year ago, but still not as good as AT&T in my area. I think by the end of next year it will be great though.

The other issue being that my cost on AT&T is basically the same as my coat would be on TMobile. I think TMo ended up being like $9 cheaper after my corp discount and that's not enough to get me to switch and accept crappier service.

Maybe you can improve your coverage now. I'm very unhappy that I'm probably going to have to switch from T-Mobile to AT&T because the T-Mobile coverage is so bad where I need to use it, I'm also unhappy about T-Mobile turning off some roaming to save some money at the expense of coverage. If you don't have the coverage, you need the roaming.

iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 devices that Apple sent to T-Mobile and AT&T for sale include Apple SIMs that are pre-coded to each carrier, which means the SIM cards can't be used interchangeably. Because the iPads purchased directly from Apple are usable with any participating carrier (Verizon has opted out), Legere recommends that users purchase the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 directly from an Apple Store.

What about third party stores like Target or Walmart? Are they "unlocked" like Apple stores would be?

John Legere also commented on the importance of the iPhone, stating that "[a] store without the iPhone is *****,"...

But we've already known that since 2007!::apple:

:p

Props to him letting customers know about the Apple SIM, and obviously the demand for iPhone 6/6+.

I just missed getting a T-Mobile iP6 yesterday; but that's okay, when I am ready to jump ship their coverage etc. will be perfect in my area. It is still not quite there yet.

T-Mobile plans all have unlimited data coverage, no overage charges and free data roaming on 120+ countries, including unlimited texting & phone calls.

In Q1 2115, they are launching their 700mhz, starting in Orlando and spreading it nationwide over the course of the year. Coverage and quality will substantially increase. It was part of the agreement with Apple. Apple wouldn't give them the phones until they put massive money into their infrastructure. They have done so,and have much more planned.

Also, I'm still waiting for my 128GB 6+ since 19/19 and they company has bent over backwards. I get call every 72hrs from their Executive Team with any updates. I've gotten over $300 in credits and they even sent me a loaner 16GB 6+ to tie me over until my order comes through. No other company has that customer service.

That's assuming some gigantic Japanese or European conglomerate doesn't succeed buying out T-Mobile first.

Remember that there are several companies that were already planning to do exactly that. Japanese billionaire Masayoshi Son and SoftBank recently acquired Sprint not long ago. And he has his eyes on T-Mobile as an even juicier prize.

I do hope that Legere prevents T-Mobile from being sold any time soon.

----------

Then he'd be foaming at the mouth and calling Samsung and Eric Schmidt sh!£* on a daily basis. :D

To be fair, SoftBank aren't a giant Japanese conglomerate, quite the opposite. They're a new(ish) and nimble company, who shook up the Japanese mobile market - a risk taker in a country of ultra conservative, slow moving, flat managed companies. Son-san himself is one of the most outspoken Japanese CEOs. Not so different after all.

They just need better rural coverage. They are a good 2-5 years away from that though given how terrible their network is.

Coverage is already good in the areas they are rolling this out. I want better than GPRS coverage when I am out in the mountains. They are 5 years out from being able to do that, if EVER. Verizon is the only way to go if you want coverage off the beating path. AT&T to a certain extent, but they fabricate their coverage maps. Heck most of the time I dont have any at all.

T-Mobile's John Legere Talks Apple SIM, iPhone 6 Demand, and Landing the iPhone

This guy is the reason why even though T-Mobile doesn't have the greatest coverage, I'm here to stay. Good things are always coming and unlimited is awesome!

I wish that were possible for me :(. Driving up through NY towards Canada, I had no bars most of the way. Thats pretty dangerous in my opinion, and prompted me to switch carriers.

Yeah, that's true. I'm very lucky that this service is good where I live and work. Only other truly unlimited is Sprint right? Which I used to work for their subsidiary... So nope. LOL

What carrier do you have now?

This is exciting, since I have T-Mobile and I live in Orlando! :)

I like that this guy it trying to shake up an industry sorely in need of some competition. My T-Mobile test drive phone arrives today. Hopefully the coverage looks good where I typically use it so I can abandon AT&T.

The problem is that very few phones support Band 12, including iPhone 6. So when they do launch these new bands, you'll also need a new phone.

I really like John Legere and I love T-Mobile. We had been customers since the Voicestream days and I remember when Jamie Lee Curtis was their spokesperson. I was so happy that the AT&T buyout didn't happen. (I hate AT&T with the passion of 100 suns, even the iPhone intro could not get me to go to AT&T.) T-Mobile is the reason AT&T and Verizon are even attempting to offer relatively reasonable plan offers. I always want them around.

It was a very hard decision for me to make to leave T-Mobile this year. I was fine initially because I was usually in my own city's coverage or another large/major city with coverage. That changed over the past year or so and I needed more remote/rural coverage also. I also started working from home more and wouldn't you know it, right where my home office is, there's a dead spot! Unacceptable... and yes, I'm aware of the booster and wi-fi calling, but again, I was paying for cellular service not wi-fi (that goes to bloodsucking Comcast) and the booster doesn't work on highway driving.

I'm on Verizon now and coverage is everywhere, especially in my home. I love that. So, I'm here for now. However, when T-Mobile gets their highway and rural area coverage together, I'll probably switch back. Definitely more value for the money with them. Plus, I just really like the company.
