It's funny TM is expanding in really rural areas like Montana where ROI cannot be too great. Good for the residents there though.
However, many areas in PA, MD, NJ and DE (less than an hour away from major cities like Philly, DC and NYC), are still super spotty. I'm not talking EDGE only, I am talking Emergency Only roaming on at&t type spotty. I've even confirmed with T-Mobile that some of these problem areas are not getting new cell sites anytime soon; they are pretty transparent about upcoming plans. There is just no way that 700mhz is some panacea for them that they think and that is a real shame.
I think it would be smarter to improve suburban/rural areas near major cities (their target demographic) and rely on at&t roaming in really rural areas. But, they're all about making that map look good versus a consistent user experience in old Omnipoint areas.
