It's funny TM is expanding in really rural areas like Montana where ROI cannot be too great. Good for the residents there though. 🙂 However, many areas in PA, MD, NJ and DE (less than an hour away from major cities like Philly, DC and NYC), are still super spotty. I'm not talking EDGE only, I am talking Emergency Only roaming on at&t type spotty. I've even confirmed with T-Mobile that some of these problem areas are not getting new cell sites anytime soon; they are pretty transparent about upcoming plans. There is just no way that 700mhz is some panacea for them that they think and that is a real shame.
I think it would be smarter to improve suburban/rural areas near major cities (their target demographic) and rely on at&t roaming in really rural areas. But, they're all about making that map look good versus a consistent user experience in old Omnipoint areas.
