It's fast food - who will know the difference? (I was kidding from when I first made my suggestion, of course. But every joke has a kernel of truth - why wouldn't it be possible to turn garbage into food?)

To be fair, there are some decent fast food restaurants out there. I try to limit how often I eat out at any of the big chains, but when I do, I tend to hit up Hardee's, because...well...their burgers actually look and taste like a proper burger.

As for turning garbage into food. Yeah, it's very possible. I remember seeing a little documentary back when where a group of people took landfill waste, and somehow found a way to make beer out of it. With the right amount of know-how, you can brake any substance down to its base components, sift out the toxic byproducts, and recombine it all into something that could be classified as edible.

...and when someone finally decides to do it, and market it, I'm sure Taco Bell is where they'll have the first test runs.

I just downloaded this app and gave it a try. I do not think it is usable.

1) First of all, I tried logging in facebook and FB said they are supplying my public profile, my friends and list of email addresses. You have got to be kidding me! I turned all of them off keeping only the mandatory public profile. TB does not like that.

2) While launching, there was a question "This app wants to know your location even when the app is not being used". I don't want the latter, so I picked No.

3) Went in as a guest and picked an item. It would not let me continue beyond this point unless location services are turned on. My problem is, is it going to track me even when I am not using the app.

I gave up at that point.

i would shoot myself if i had to proceed those orders lol

never been to Tacco Bell, we dont have it here but as far as i know you seem to s your pants from it :D

I want to try this because it looks really cool, but I don't like Taco Bell, and I could only go to one while visiting home

I plan to try this out at lunch. I'd love to see this expand across all or most fast food chains. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned Subway has this, I will certainly check into that.

The data mining aspect is huge for them. With this data, they know who you are, what you order, and how often you eat at Taco Bell. They can use this for all types of marketing fun.

This is how they'll determine new menu items. The app allows people to make their own crazy creations. When they start to see one creation being ordered again, they can look into it and see if it's something they should add to their regular menu. Heck, they don't even have to add it to the regular menu. They can just add it as a suggested item on their mobile app.

Yeah....

The sad thing is that it took them this long, IMO. I mean, there's a little corner bar and pizza place in the last town I lived in (population 4,500 or so) who had an iOS ordering app for at least a year now -- but the KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut conglomerate couldn't get it done yet?

KFC and Pizza Hut apps soon im guessing.

It appears you can't actually submit your order until it determines you are in the parking lot. Then you can check-in and your order will be seen by that store so they can prepare it. Of course, it doesn't make sense that it would require location access outside of the app.

 Pizza Hut's app was a little slow, it didn't come out until 2009. I have 4 pizza place apps on my phone, Hut is the only one I never use, though.

I'll just leave this here...

I assume that's for marketing and development purposes. If they see that half of their Springfield customers are driving in from Shelbyville, maybe it's time to open a store in Shelbyville. That kind of thing.
