Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Based on Queen6’s recommendation, despite knowing he likes darker games more than I do, I took a chance and… so far this has paid off for a new original feeling elderscrolls-esq RPG! 🥳 It’s got a good atmosphere, good game play, nice visuals. I did a lot of reading about builds and am still getting used to combat. I picked magic, although you can multi-task, but at this point I feel like a weakling, which is maybe on purpose, at the beginning, weak and stuck in a dungeon for who knows how long… but some dude let me out! I did discover/confirm that if you attack an adversary head on, it’s tougher than getting behind them via a dash or surprise, but as a rule I knew that. ☺️

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is an open world action role-playingvideo game developed by Questline and published by Awaken Realms. Set in a dark fantasy reimagining of Arthurian legend, the game was released in early access for Windows in March 30, 2023 with a full release on May 23, 2025 for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

If you lure enemies to the guy who freed you, might find he'll take care of them, and you can get the benefit of what they drop 🙂 I opted for a fighter build, that might be a regret for a first play of Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon... That said have made to the Horns of the South (hub), so will keep cracking on...

The Dungeon level is fairly short and linear, however the path is not always obvious and as ever exploration pays. This game you're not the chosen one, nor a champion, just someone who falls into a circumstance. Definitely a game with huge replay value especially given how your choices actually matter unlike many others...

Playing Elder Scrolls, I’ve gotten lazy with destinations showing on my map, I head towards the point and enjoy the scenery along the way, and sometimes still need to do some navigating. I for one don’t appreciate the “Elden Ring” approach of searching the map for the place I need to go, but so far, at least this game has a journal, and even in the dungeon, I did not mind wandering around the branching areas within it. The atmosphere held me. 🙂

Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon is mod friendly another plus for those that want extras. Personally, I prefer at least to finish once first, but as of now see no need. As the gameplay is what I've wanted for a good spell..

I’ll look to see what mods are available.
Seems like Poland has become a fertile place for game development…

Combat: if you hold a weapon in one hand, you can attack LMB, and block with RMB. However if you equip a weapon in one hand and a spell in the other, blocking no longer works because you are using LMB for the weapon, and RMB for the spell. 😐

Right now mostly using a two-handed broadsword, can strike, block & parry but need to work on the stats as come across a couple of areas out of my depth in the Southern Horns.
