Exactly this. If Apple would put the same effort into the digital faces that they do into the analogue faces, the watch would be many times better than it is.
I like digital time too since it has seconds, but unfortunately you can't have it on the digital face.
Too bad the Apple Watch still requires an iPhone. I’d buy the watch in a heartbeat, but at $800, + a watch data plan, + tacking on another $1000 for a pointless phone just to turn it on, + $2000 for a plan as required for that useless phone, makes that watch a needlessly belabored purchase.
With every Apple product there’s some huge catch, some extremely obvious fundamental functionality that’s overlooked or denied. The decision to require watch owners to also own an iPhone, when the combination of watch+iPad makes a phone uneccesary, is ridiculous and unnecessarily self-limiting.
Does anybody know where I can get this watch band from the video?
It's not related to the article, I know...
That word is used by traditional mechanical watch makers. If it's not the time, it's a complication.
Do you know of any app that displays the altitude as a complication? And can you display the current heart rate as a complication?Carrot has infograph complications and uses Dark Sky for data. Fantastical definitely needs an update, 3 of the 4 calendar replacement apps on AW have been updated since AW4 came out and NONE of them added infograph complications... It's mind blowing.
I think it's just Apple making an acknowledgement to traditional watchmaking. I don't mind Apple using the term as long as they don't get stupid and try to apply a tradmark to it.Yup, second this. Complications are not used to describe additional features on top of hours/minutes indicators on a quartz watch and by extension an electronic watch...
Nothing mechnically complicated about moving a bunch of pixels on a OLED screen.
Plus the need to replace it every year or two in order to keep up with the latest features or not drop out of support.Too bad the Apple Watch still requires an iPhone. I’d buy the watch in a heartbeat, but at $800, + a watch data plan, + tacking on another $1000 for a pointless phone just to turn it on, + $2000 for a plan as required for that useless phone, makes that watch a needlessly belabored purchase.
I think it looks a lot more classy if restraint is applied with this face. You don't have to use eight complications at the same time just because you can.Once people get used to this face, I think it's incredibly useful to have a lot of information on screen.
It would be infinitely better if they'd just open up the damned face to developers. The results would be a lot more useful; better looking faces, faces not being limited dull watch imitations, etc.Once people get used to this face, I think it's incredibly useful to have a lot of information on screen.
"Supports 8 Complications"
Doesn't it support 9 on the "Infograph" one?
e.g. I set it to these as a test: 1 heart, 2 calendar, 3 weather, 4 date, 5 earth, 6 solar, 7 wind, 8 market, 9 activities.
Actually, I think it’s more convoluted than anything. I think it’s not necessarily about getting used to it, I just don’t need all complication information displayed all the time. I prefer a cleaner look on the watch face personally, but I do like the customization aspect of it.
Until they get a messages complication on here ...
Right on!Infograph is dead to me until they add all the basic complications like Phone, Messages, etc. completely ridiculous that this was not available day one. Love my series 4 otherwise, but using my old face from series 3 until they fix this glaring gap.
The new face is fantastic to show off to people who dont have access to it. But in actual use.... its information overload and the novelty wore off within a few days.
I know we’re supposed to make excuses of how future app updates will make more complications more useful. But considering the track record of Apple Watch Apps then I just dont know if we’re actually going to get anything more than UV Index or an icon telling me that the sun is out and its still daytime.
