I don't understand why most people in this thread just bash this computer.

Don't they know that this isn't a machine for your everyday youtube/facebook/iTunes?
And how can some say that they take a MBP 17" any day over this one???
A MBP is almost like a netbook compared to that. ;)

I would love to have this machine, it would work nicely with 3Ds and Maya. :D

18 LBS????
The Mac Portable is 15 lbs, and that one was too heavy to carry around !

FYI
21.5-inch iMac
20.5 pounds

I bet I can plug in iMac, turn it on and get everything working faster than someone using that piece of joke.

I imagine the battery life is phenomenal, if it's 18 pounds right?

Probably 30 minutes on power saving mode.

the next generation 17" MBP will probably match these specs and have Blu-ray by then, and might be a bit cheaper too... but yes will be behind the game.

Yeah but when Apple does it you can bet it'll be .02 inches thicker than the previous version and have atleast 7 hours of usage if not more.

Besides this and the 17" MBP aren't really in the same departments. That thing OP posted is a collapsable desk with a built in screen and keyboard. The battery is actually supposed to act as a built in battery backup. It was never intended to leave the office :D

There goes my raise LOL

I love the PA joke up above, lol.. yeah, I hate it when they stick people with laptops for editing, editing is still a dual screen desktop thing, 'portability' is destroyed with a laptop of that size, lol, even if it is just a dubbing station.

And just like CS4 runs better on windows, windows is still more powerful than macs in the editing world, with both Avid and Premiere, unless you use the cool xsan mac stuff to theater 100's of mac pros together for when you're compressing.
