I love how it's being argued that the immune system has developed as we have "caused" illness, but they're also using what I'll call the "super immune system hypothesis" to explain the lack of illness before "modern day". Make up your minds, did cavemen have immune systems or not?

It's funny that everyone on these forums are as stubborn as me. Anyway, at least we're not throwing food yet.

How many pharmaceutical company/government conspiracy theories have we covered yet? Or rather, how many have we not covered?

Cold medicines will neither shorten nor prolong your cold since they just alleviate the symptoms. However, they are not harmful in any way so there's nothing wrong with using them to alleviate your symptoms, as long as you try to live healthily in other regards, too, to actually shorten your cold. It certainly makes sense to spend enough time at a store with a good selection to find a medicine that only fights symptoms you actually have since you will get additional drowsiness from additional ingredients you don't need.

Also, obviously keep drinking lots of fluids, eat healthily, and take zinc, 500mg of Vitamin C 2-3 times a day, and Echinacea, and sleep as much as you can. Stay away from coffee and alcohol and rest a lot.

^^^Take this advice. There is strong clinical evidence that antihistamines will help with runny noses and decongestants such as norephedrine and pseudoephedrine will provide short term relief of symptoms. But they won't modify the course of your cold and there is always side effects which can be very individual. Alternatively you could always try putting 5 stones under your pillow and taking one out per night. On probability there's a very high chance by the time you remove the last stone that your cold will have abated :).

However ignore this. There is absolutely zero clinical evidence that taking zinc, vitamin C, or echinacea will help with your cold or symptoms at all. They're just placebo as your dietary intake of zinc and vitamin C will likely be fine (unless you have scurvy). In taking these the only thing you can be sure of is losing money. However taking each of these is safe so if you want to - go for it.

If you have a headache and there's alot of pain , take a dafalgam, if you have many headaches you can better go to a hospital... Don't take medicin alot, only if you really need to... If you once can't sleep and you really want to sleep take a sleeping pill(i still won't do that) but if you can't sleep alot, try to find an other cure (non-medicin) .
