Cheap or poor screen protectors are the pits but a good one applied well is virtually indistinguishable from a naked screen. For the protection and peace of mind given, I'll lose the 1% or so of tactile feedback.

From a technical side, this makes sense. And a good screen protector is just as good as the one applying it correctly as well.

I'm not sure what Apple did with their glass after the 5, but I've not been impressed with the scratch resistance of the 6 or 7. I don't recall having any scratches at all after a year + of ownership with my 5. Yet my 6 had a lot of light scratches after only a month of ownership, despite it being absolutely babied. It seemed to be hit or miss on the forums though. Some suspected a faulty oleophobic coating that was applied too thick on some phones. Likewise my 7 has some light scratching as well. While only noticeable under light, it's still significant enough to be annoying considering I never had these issues in the past. My phone is never set face down, never put in anything but an empty pocket, etc...

I've got a 3 year old 5s that's never had a screen protector on it and there's no scratches on the screen that I can see holding it up under a light. I'm hoping my 7 does as well.

Never used one (on any smartphone) and no screen scratches – but I'm pretty careful.

My wife always uses a glass screen protector, and they serve her well (as her phones take more knocks than mine).

Never used any screen protector or case ever since the iPhone 3GS, I don't see a problem with it.
