Those are my predictions after doing some research and knowing apple history. Biggest change will be in 2017 as Ming said for 10th year anniversary for iphone.

I'll be amazed if we see
Resolution bumps this year just based in the fact that no rumors (i.e. Parts leaks or at least orders) have come through yet. As happy as I'd be to see a huge resolution bump I'm not expecting it at all.

This is a biased poll.

Failing to include "I'm not buying iPhone 7" speaks volumes.

I do celebrate the positive tone and optimism, but miss having balance.

Well there won't be any Plus anymore . Only S7 and S7 Pro

I will go with the iPhone Pro (if there is one) the dual camera alone would be worth it. Plus since I didn't upgrade to the 6S and regretted it, I want the 3D Touch and Live Photos feature.

You have not missed much with 3D touch or Live photos. 3d touch would be very handy if they implement properly ex. 3D touch settings button shows toggle for wifi, bluetooth and such, you should be just able to flick it on or off from there. Live photos are ok but you should be able to just set them as background and you should not have to hold the screen down.

I'm not eligible for a new phone until 2017, but even if I were...I would stand pat.

I'm pretty sure my next phone will have an amoled screen.

I'll give Apple 2 years to roll that out...if they don't, then I'll consider Samsung.

Right now I have iphone 6s plus and samsung galaxy s7 edge. Screen and camera on s7 edge are hands down better. I still keep coming back to iphone for a complete software and hardware experience. My biggest issue with apple is with camera and screen. I dont mind too much about microSD card. I am sure iphone 7 will have a better camera but i really hope they advance to 2k screen this year. I know AMOLED will def be next year.

Aside from resolution bumps that I just don't foresee happening, my biggest argument would be the pricing. I cannot see Apple decreasing the pricing on the established models just because a Pro addition is added. I would still argue:
7 - $649, $749, $849
7 Plus - $749, $849, $949
7 Pro - $849, $949, $1,049

I also don't believe the 7 will get a 256GB option. Guess time will tell.

2k screen on a iPhone is complete overkill.

I really love the S7...totally gorgeous in every way.

Only thing holding me back from getting one is that battery life (esp. SOT), though better than the S6...isn't quite where I want it to be.

In another 2 years......more time for Android to get the kinks out as well.

Android is def improving but it is so not reliable on a daily basis. For ex. on a daily base my S7 edge would be at 85% with light activities but there will be days when i almost do the same it will be at 60% by noon. There is no consistency with android because most of the apps are not optimized. Another issue, Tango video call app has been randomly freezing and turning off my wife and my s7 edge after 10 min of video call. This phone has been out for a few months but developer still has not updated it to correct it, if this was an issue on iphone, it would have been sorted out within days. S7 edge battery life is def better than s6 edge but once again not so reliable.

IF this is legit, I'm going iPhone 7 Pro. Because I'm like that. I have to have the latest and greatest. It's a character flaw. BUT, I can "deal" with 128gb of storage.

Side note: GO CUBS!!!

Apple doesn't care for tech enthusiasts anymore, they cater to mainstream and the mainstream crowd is generally uneducated, they released a 2 year old phone with new internals and people went crazy.

Not sure about going crazy, but those who like/prefer a smaller phone were happy that there was an updated version of it (so not a 2-year phone, but an update smaller sized phone).

Apple NEVER tried to appeal to tech people.

Highly unlikely it will get a price drop and resolution bumps across the board, that's wishful thinking. The whole point of the Pro models is to increase the price points. Also doubt the Pro will get 3GB seeing as how the small iPad Pro has 2gb still.

So unless Apple decides to be nice, realistically, this is what I see happening:

iPhone 7
- same resolution
- regular camera
- trutone display?
- 16/64/128 gb
- same prices ($649, $749, $849)

iPhone 7 Pro (replaces Plus model)
- possibly true 1242×2208 instead of scaled 1080p?
- truetone display
- smart connector
- dual camera
- 32/128/256 gb ($849/$999/$1149)

And the rest are the same spec upgrades it typically gets.

Since we're in the iPhone forum, the talk is about phones specifically...the answer to No.
Seems like the original comment about that was made in a somewhat more wider sense than just that (given the "anymore" part, for example), and the reply didn't qualify anything in relation to it. But, yeah, OK.

iPhones will never use the AX processors from the iPads. The AX processors are designed specifically to run on the larger footprints of the iPads which can better dissipate heat.

The new iPhones will have an A10 chip, which will likely be as powerful as the A9X (at least in terms of CPU, not GPU).

I would get the pro version but it depends how much extra it will cost in the UK. On contract I will have to pay around £200 up front cost (Based on last years iPhone 6s plus 64GB) Don't fancy spending more than that.
