Experience > Specs

I highly doubt this guy has ever used one. The way I see Fandroids attacking people on tech websites just keeps driving me further and further away from Android. It's really not appealing at all. I actually LOVE the ecosystem Apple has created. It's all connected and simple.

Easy throwing the "F" word around here. You will get a bunch of Android people here!

I think it is actually funny. To each his own. Doesn't effect me nor does it effect my current iPad.

specs mean nothing if the user experience is crap. you can have the highest specs available, but if the UI is unusable it all means nothing.

I completely agree with that statement, and it is what I stated earlier in the thread, it's all about the UI

Pretty much everything he said is true.

Now... does it matter? That's the question.

(Also, there are things the iPad 2 is better at as well, but they are conveniently skipped)

Have you used the device? Curious because I found the device to be quite enjoyable but a bit laggy in some cases.

I find the iPad to be a better experience, the specs of the Xoom are nice but as many are saying, if the experience is crappy then the specs aren't going to make me feel better.

Enjoyable but laggy seems like an oxymoron to me. Part of the iPad experience is also (and honestly... mostly) iTunes and the App store. If every iOS app worked on the xoom - it'd be a COMPLETELY different story.

Anyone else feel that rendering one orientation useless is a big deal with regards to the XOOM?

I keep seeing the screen referred to as "better", when in fact I feel it may be a serious design flaw in some regards.

I mean are we 12 years old and get offended by someone saying how much superior their toy is.

Based on 90% of what I read lately on these forums, I'd say yes. I'm not sure why we can't have intelligent discussion on differing devices. It's OK to like both Android and iOS and discuss the differences, strengths and weakness of each platform, even if only for the sake of having that knowledge. In a perfect world we would all have every single smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc etc to enjoy, but unfortunately we have to pick one or 2 and some of us enjoy exploring the reasons to buy one and not the other.

Considering this is an Apple website, in the iPad subforum, I'm obviously going to be biased. But there's no way in he'll I'm going to bite my tongue as to not irritate the Android fans. That's ludicrous.

The portrait mode is not exactly useless, but it is limited. If a website has its content mainly in the center of the page (such as the huffington post), portrait mode on the Xoom is great. For other pages, it just takes a couple of adjustments to get it to fit. I don't have a lot of experience using the iPad, but I imagine that the same thing holds true for reading certain pages in portrait mode. In sum, I would probably prefer the 4:3 orientation, but it's not a huge deal to me.

One more for the "sure, he's a fanboy, but you are an even bigger (and possibly more ridiculous) fanboy for needing to clip that and post in on an Apple forum to vent about it" camp.

He's clearly a fan of the "More is Better" but more ram, more memory, more processing speed is nothing without a great OS, and in my opinion even though the hardware is great i'm more a software fan and iOS is incredible in my opinion.

iOS has a lot of features and more important, they are done right, like multitasking, I prefer it over anything.

Do you? The iPad 2 isn't out yet, and Apple hasn't specified the megapixel count.

Back camera: Video recording, HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio; still camera with 5x digital zoom.

This is in line with the iPod Touch camera. 720p = 1280x720 = 0.92MP widescreen, or 0.7MP in standard ratio. If it had been otherwise they would have specified the megapixel count, as they have with every iPhone sensor thus far.

I posted it for fun, so we could all get a good laugh.

He doesn't make any valid points.

says the trolling fanboy. Why even start this thread when all you're doing is starting a fanboy vs fanboy? Does it make you feel any better to downplay someone elses enthusiasm about their product? Do you feel better? Do you?
