Do I need this? No
Do I want this? Yes

I will buy the next Iphone on launch day...just because... I have a 6 plus and did have a 6... So that's me.

I also have $150 in Apple store gift cards that I can finally find a home for while paying retail.

I wish the SS was $450... but it isn't... So I am set not to spend $600 plus. The idea of $600 and a rubber band sounds silly too.

So that leaves me with the Sport. Of course as everyone knows... The silver is not offered with a black band and the other band choices are just bad...would it have killed them to make a red or navy blue... even yellow or orange would be better than the current choices.

The Space grey may or may not scratch... time will tell on that one.

The :apple: Watch at $349-$399 is clearly better than the $200-$250 offerings from other brands... and at least worth it in comparison.

Talk you in or out? (Am I gonna get paid for this?)

1. Do you want the watch?

2. Do you have the money?

If answers to both questions are yes, you've already answered your own question.

That will be $150 please.

I have not made the final decision either. I have some auction money on my Paypal debit/credit card, so it's not a question of money.

Like OP, I don't need it, but want it.
Also like OP, I would be going for the Sport model.

I wear a G-shock during the week and a Nike+ GPS watch when I run. If I felt confident that this watch would replace both, I'd be all in.

Why do you need us to make your decisions? Would you like us to help you tie your shoe as well?

I think eventually the sport band will be offered in black and it will be only about $50. it's on their store site if I'm not mistaken but it can't be purchased now. Get white for a neutral look to tide you over for now. I agree, I think it stinks the Sport watch isn't available right from the start with the black band. Or at least a dark navy blue. Those colors are too funky or quirky or candy cute for some tastes so at least one dark color should have been offered.

But honestly I've never really been overjoyed at the colors Apple offers for any of its accessories. I assume whoever chooses those colors has a regional influence on their taste that I won't ever get here on the east coast even though I am willing to embrace quirky and funky. It's just that their colors aren't attractive shades of quirky to me!

Don't buy it, it is a glorified remote for your phone. Unless you have to see the notification the millisecond it arrives, just use the phone. You'll pull it out to type the response anyway.

you can buy the black sport band separately day of launch, either with a space grey stainless steel pin, or a silver stainless steel pin.

Too my knowledge it's not been confirmed anywhere that they will definitely be available for preorder or even on sale on the 24th. They will be available but it could be after launch. For example on Friday or on the launch day they could go live on the site with the ability to preorder or order respectively but with ship dates of several weeks.

To use it as a remote for a AppleTV is reason enough

Do you honestly... honestly believe...

That Apple won't allow people to buy whatever extra bands they want the day it comes out? The DAY most people who walk into that that store will want to buy extra bands?

I highly doubt they will hold off anything for a "later date".

The black band will be available launch day. I guarantee it.

I'm starting a new thread.

"Talk me into or out of wearing pants today"

no pants. never pants. ever ever.

You said you want it. Done deal!

You also do not need an iPhone , but you want one ;) lots of cheaper offerings...

It's not a question of holding back anything although they certainly could and would if they needed to for whatever reason. At the same time they have to make sure there are enough bands to go with the watches themselves so they may not have any choice depending on supply in delaying the ship dates of the optional bands.

Now that's just silly. I always wear pants! Should I wear underwear today is a more valid question.

I wouldn't be second guessing anything if the SS was $450... I would see the value... The current offerings have me on the fence.

The decision would be easier if I posted this on an Android forum as everyone would call it crap and say no.:D

I'd wait at least a couple of months to see if the early adopters report any major issues such as band connectors and band release buttons get permanently stuck due to bad design choice (tight crevices that will suck in sweat, soapy water, liquid food splashes, sand, dust, and cement the connector/button in).

Yeah Apple forgot to test that the past few years.

The nice thing about new products and early adopting is the hours that you can spend in here complaining. That's just part of the fun.

Yes, it IS fun to try to predict the future by looking at the renders of unreleased product. My knowledge of physics tells me those tight gaps will be so capillary-action happy that they won't miss any chance to suck in every little droplet of sweat or other liquid and leave a solid deposit there.

There's a reason the traditional band attachment is designed as is, and it's proven by billions of man-years of life usage.
