Got a strange email... Was a invite to join tapatalk for Macrumors from a user here?

How would another user get our email?

Can you forward it to me at arn@normalkid.com

Note that we do have tapatalk installed here, so my best guess is it was sent through tapatalk itself, but hadn't seen that feature before.

Thanks sent.

Im not a tapatalk user so I assume they should not have my email, same with other users on the forum?

Tapatalk, the company, doesn't have your email but the tapatalk client could send an email to another user since it's like using the forums with a different interface.

Ya so the email says

You're receiving this email from Tapatalk and is initialed by xxxxx from MacRumors Forums, Tapatalk does not store your email address

Looks like tapatalk client has an invite function. So the email is sent from tapatalk to you, based in user action in the client. But the email isn't exposed to anyone.

Still, not great. Will see if we can turn that feature off.

I think if we are not tapatalk members , they should not have access to our email directly or indirectly via users here?

Love this forum and have long time account, but I'm not a tapatalk member and am not interested in receiving unsolicticted emails from them or via other users here.

Anyway to turn that off?

Edit - see you replied above as I was writing this post, thanks.

Tapatalk invitations through MR

Of recently I've noticed I've been getting Tapatalk invitations through MacRumors.

As I have a unique email for MR, I want to know if my information was transferred to Tapatalk without my permission or is this an option MacRumors offers, and therefore I would like to disable?

MOD NOTE: I merged this with an earlier thread about the topic. Arn thought he had disabled this last week, when did you receive the last invite?

I still got one today. So it is either re-enabled or there is a second way of doing it.

Looking into this.

So, made another change. Shouldn't happen again.

If it does, let me know.
