Target holding iPad 2 stock until April 14?

The same happened to me...I went to my local Target after the in-stock tracker said they had my model available. When I got there, the electronics guy said they didn't have any in stock. Then a manager (I think) showed up with a piece of paper in his hands, which was the email from apple he told me and he was reading from it while I was standing in front of him. He said Apple wants them to hold the Ipad 2's until Sunday and tell anybody who calls about it or comes into the store for it that they are not available to sell.
He didn't know how many they had but he told me on launch day they had 5.

I work for Target. There was a system wide message on WorkBench, internal messaging system, saying that EVERY Target store will get one case of 5 iPad 2's to be held for sale on Sunday the 17th, as they are in sales ad circular.
This is not an abnormal policy, back during the holidays, XBOX Kinnects were held when they were in an upcoming ad circular.
So while an online tracking system may indicate inventory, they are not supposed to be sold until Sunday.
This is no different then what Best Buy has done or is currently doing.

Target definitely holding iPad 2s for the weekend
The Target near me has had the 32GB AT&T black iPad2 'Available' for several days now. This is highly suspect as this is a very popular model.
Sure enough, I called that store today and the woman who answered said they have no iPad2s in stock but 'they should be getting more in on Saturday and Sunday'.

They already have them but they're holding them for the weekend. Wonder when they will open the floodgates - Saturday morning?

My store is showing the same, but I want white. Gonna commute 90 miles to the closest apple store tomorrow morning and wait in line. If I can't get a 32Gb there, i will give up and go to my local target Sunday morning.

No deal, other then having some in stock Sunday morning at 8am when the store opens. This is nothing new, Best Buy is doing the same thing, and Target and other retailers do it for other hot items in the past, Kinnect, Wii, PS3 etc.
Wish I had seen this, saw using the iPad tracker that there were some in Georgetown, TX and headed over (I work there, but live in Austin) and they had none. Showed them the iPad Tracker, they looked and found 5, but wouldn't sell me one, saying that they're holding them for their Sunday ad to hit and to come back at 8AM.
I wasn't really looking to buy one, I was looking really for an older one, but the only 1st Gen they had in stock was a 64GB WiFi+3G, and even at it's "lower" cost, was still too high.
But had they sold me the iPad 2, I'd have bought it. I have no self control.

Yup, just saw it early this morning. Mine had a pic of the 16GB wi-fi in Black and White. Said limit of 2 per person. Good luck to those who are still hunting
Got to my local target at 8 and was able to grab a white 64gb..I beat a gang of resellers by a couple of seconds...they were too busy discussing how many they were going to buy
Nabbed a 32GB black wifi iPad at Target in Chico, Ca.
They had 5 in stock as all the other stores seemed to, down to 4 as of 8:01am this morn.
Backlight bleed was obvious as soon as i turned it on. Will likely exchange for a white one when they're in stock. 90 day return policy ftw =)

I was at my local Target store this morning 10 mins before they're open. Unfortunately, they have none (of any different models) in stock.
