Target Information

shipments of what? target gets shipments every day (expect sunday). whether or not ipads are on the truck is an unknown. and 4 am sounds about right for shipments.

shipments of iPads.. I know they ge deliveries every day but someone on here said the electronics shipments are MWF. I guess that doesn't make much sense though.
 
Well, I decided to try my luck and drove out to the Mount Kisco, NY target - about 40 min out of my way, but the online tracker was showing 64GB AT&T Black as "Available". As soon as I got there I tried the DPCI in the endcap scanner - no go. Showed aisle location as N/A and in stock as NO.

Went over to electronics to see if they had any in the case - no luck, only iPad first gens...while I was looking, the counter girl took 4 back to back calls about iPad 2s, telling each person they had none but would be getting more in the coming days.

Oh well, it was worth a shot! Just an fyi that the online inventory tracker does not always reflect the store inventory. On the way home I checked the page again and it still showed as available. Strange.
 
Is there any way to print the barcode since some in store scanners don't have numeric buttons anymore? The only way to check is by scanning the barcode.
 
I visited the Apple store this afternoon looking for an iPad 2 case/cover thing for this morning's Target purchase and spoke to the guy working there. The Target stock thing here is legendary now, and I'm pretty sure that within a day or two (probably tomorrow) there will be people lined up to get what meager stock appears.

Many thanks to the people who got this info out. The only reason we got so lucky is that so many people just wrote Target off as a possibility.

i found no additional inventory this morning in any of the 6 wifi only models that i have been tracking in my area :(.
 
I called this morning to a Target and the woman said even though it says available that just means they carry it, not that they have it in stock :mad: and i'm not yet ready to drive half an hour on a hunch because it means having to brave the beltway... hopefully this will all calm down by next thursday... in the meantime, happy st. paddy's day! :D

For what it's worth, I was told by two separate electronics employees at my local Target (Texarkana, TX) that they unloaded trucks early AM on M/W/F/S and would have product on the shelves by 9AM for opening.

The Boss took an early lunch and got one there for me yesterday (Wednesday) around 10:30AM.

God, I love that woman. :)
 
Really does work. Just picked up a second one this morning for my mother at a store here in Orlando. There were two black ones (32GB) and three whites ones (64GB), wifi only. Good luck to everyone else.
 
The website is not accurate for DC area stores. I went to one and called other. While the website shows availability, there are none in stores. Only saw old iPads.
 
This worked for me. Checked the stock online last night, and again at 6am. Showed "Available" for a White, 32GB WiFi only.

Walked in right at 8am, the first employee I asked said what they had is what's on display. I asked about the online inventory saying "Available" and he asked a manager who said they didn't get any iPad 2s last night.

Asked a different Electronics guy if he could look it up via DPCI and found 2 in the back. I bought one for my wife, another guy who decided to just try his luck this morning bought the 2nd one.

Seems like pressing them to check the stock room using the DPCI is necessary.
 
Just got mine..........thanks big time to the stock checker tool. I was able to grab a 32gb wifi black about 10 min ago. This was at the target in willowbrook, il. A big hi to the guy in front of me who also got the same model....kudos!!
 
Got the only stock at Stafford (Gateway Drive) store ... black 32GB WiFi. Several other NoVa stores still have, or at least did, stock.

Not true, this worked for me last night in Columbia, MD. I got the DCPI from this site, it showed "limited availability" at the Target in Columbia and PG Plaza for the 64GB White WiFi. Went to the store, checked the scanner, said limited availability there as well. Asked the associate, they said they didn't have any in stock. Actually left the store, was going to post on here that I wasn't successful, and read some additional threads that said you have to be persistent and ask them to check the stockroom.

Was only 2 blocks away so went back, and as soon as I got there and said I wanted them to check the back the guy goes back there and comes back and says "You're not going to believe this, but 1 just came in. 35 people called about this today but you're the one getting it!"

Now I don't believe for a minute that it just happened to arrive at 8 PM when I was just at the store 5 mins earlier, I think it was there all along, but the moral of the story is, be persistent. Make them look.

Very happy with my new iPad2, I can't believe it worked. Looks amazing with the beige leather smart cover. Now to cancel the $100 Best Buy reservation today. :D

If you are in the DC area, especially MD, the PG Plaza Target in Hyattsville probably has 1 White 64GB WiFi left.

Edited: Looks like the Target in Greenbelt has plenty of 32GB Black WiFi (at least more than 1) and PG Plaza now has 32GB White WiFi also. Get your iPads MD folks :D

I'm convinced you have to press them to check the stock in the back and provide them the DPCI, based on my experience this morning, as well as many other's experience in this thread, including yours.
 
^^ Happy to hear that you had a better experience. Mgr told me that there were none and did not want to press him past that. I'm in NOVA. Well, have an online order. Will wait I guess.

Went to the one target in the area showing available, and the electronics dept said they had 3 this AM but sold out at 8:30 :( I went to guest services and asked her to look up the #, since the online link still showed available. None left. Sigh.

I have an online order as well, but it won't ship until April 11th. Based on my success today, I might try tomorrow and then cancel my online order.
 
The Target links are awesome. Just picked up a whilte 32gb wifi model in NJ. yayyyyy:):):):):)

i wanted black but oh well...
 
I am a sad man

Does anyone else feel a little ridiculous they are driving all over town to try to find this unicorn of a machine? I do a little bit but the thought of holding it in my hands keeps me motivated.

Moving on, I went to a local Target in MI after checking the inventory site you gentleman so graciously shared with us. This Target said they did not have any in stock and then proceeded to check their scanner to see what other Target stores had them. Luckily, another one close by showed they had 2 32gb wifi blacks in stock. I talked to an unassuming employee and she took the time to look at multiple places and even asked the warehouse manager why there was a discrepancy in their inventory system. She said they have never received any and that the shipment that is supposed to come next week is cancelled as well... I truly believe she gave me the correct information but I can't help but wonder if they warehouse guy is running an operation back there. Shoutout to the other MacRumors forum member I met there. We are United! Keep fighting the good fight.

Dunno, I called Silver Spring at 8:30 and gave the girl the DCPI (she even asked for it), she put me on hold for a bit and then said they didn't have any. I asked her if that meant that they didn't even have any in the back, and she said "available just means that we carry it, not that we have it in stock..." Yeah right... And no more availability is showing for Greenbelt or PG... haha
 
Hey guys, just joined the forum since I decided I had to have one of these yesterday. I actually work overnight at a Target in New York but I'm just as in the dark about shipping as everyone else. We get Electronics shipped to us every night basically in with the regular truck but I have never seen an apple product in one of our regular trucks so I'm not sure when we actually get those shipments in. I do have a question for some of you guys since I've never tried to acquire an apple product while quantities are scarce. I'm pretty much going to stalk my job for the next week or two so that I can hopefully grab one before I leave work in the morning but do you recommend me ordering online in the meantime? I'm not crazy about waiting 5 weeks or camping out with the scalpers in Manhattan but I really want this thing.
