Most target workers, like myself, are college students working part-time. A little difficult to find a well paying full time job in that situation.

Try to be a little more open minded next time you post.

I worked at Target when I was in High School/College too. I knew that it was part of life and that missing one Thanksgiving evening to be able to get a paycheck the rest of the year was well worth it in the long run. It meant that I'd be able to afford college and in turn get a job that would allow me to be off on the days that I wanted to be off on. Please be more open minded when posting and more forward thinking when responding.

What makes it worse is those that have to travel home to see their family. You can't travel hours away if you have to work on Thanksgiving.

I'm fine with black Friday sales, but I don't understand why they need to be done on a holiday. Personally I haven't worked or shopped at them before and have no plans to in the near future, but it makes me sad to see corporations putting sales ahead of employee benefits by taking away these employees holiday time.

Do you really think that corporations would put anything before profits? How do you think their shareholders would feel? How would they stay in business if they don't sell stuff? The market is saying they should be open. If people didn't show up, I promise you they would quit opening up on Holidays.

1) $140 is not worth standing in line and dealing with people acting like animals at these stores. I will do my shopping online.

2) You might not care about spending Thanksgiving with your family, but there's a lot of employees that do and get stuck working. These stores should be closed. It's called black FRIDAY for a reason.

1) Agreed

2) Some employees like working these days because they need the extra pay. Not everyone is fortunate to have a good job or put food on the table. For those that don't want to work, I'm sure the ones that do will gladly take their place. And for those who are stuck, well, you the consumer are shopping that day. So if you want everyone to be off, simply do not shop.

Yet people will camp overnight prior to a new iPhone release when it can be done just the same.

1 It's called black FRIDAY for a reason.

It's called BLACK Friday because many retail merchants transition from a net loss for the fiscal year, to a net profit on that day. The volume of sales (and resulting profit) is sufficient to put them over the top.

That may no longer be as prevalent, as merchants offer steeper discounts just to get people in the door. But, a lot of those discounts are what is known as a "loss leader": meaning you sell something below cost, with the expectation that a customer will buy other stuff at the same time to make up for it.

I'm fine with black Friday sales, but I don't understand why they need to be done on a holiday.

If you don't work in retail, you probably have the Friday after Thanksgiving off from work. It has traditionally been the start of the start of the holiday shopping season, so merchants offer big sales to bring traffic to their stores.

Mediocre deals. I just bought an iPad mini 2 for $255 -- straight, not by including a GC that chains me to a particular store later on. Even the iPad mini 3 deal w/ $100 card gets you to $299, but surely people will find the mini 2 again for $255. When I bought mine it wasn't the first time I'd seen it go on sale at that price since the iPad mini 3 was released.

If you live in a Meijer city they are offering a $100 store credit. That's a little better.

You completely missed the point. I was responding to someone regarding them saying "if you don't want to work on those days you should get a better job." The point I was making was that if they're working part time because of school, there aren't many options in terms of "better jobs". I understand that you should suck it up on Thanksgiving if you have that job.

better deal?

whats the better deal?

target iPad mini 2 32gb $349 plus $100 gift card (buy during black friday)

or

apple refurb iPad mini 2 32gb $299 (can be bought now)

If people don't want to work these days then they should go look for a better job.

It's some of that and this sense of entitlement that people have these days that irks me. Oh no, it's a holiday. No one should have to work. Really?!?

Family time is important but let's face it, most of the complaints seem to come from ingrates looking for an excuse not to work. There are plenty of people, especially immigrants, who are grateful for the opportunity to make some extra dollars... and they somehow manage to find time for their families... most likely cos they're not hanging out with friends on the weekends.

Staples. The deal was on all the deal sites and they sold out in about 24 hrs. The previous week Bestbuy.com had a one day sale at $249. I suspect we'll be seeing that price again at other stores between now and Tgiving.

Wow!! This is a great deal I am gonna look into this for the wife!!

Is Ipad Mini 3 worth it thru this deal? Anyone with experience with the mini 2 and 3 please let me know

Remember 2013 Holiday Season Data Breach!!!!

Do not forget Target last year 2013 from Nov 27-Dec 15 had one of the biggest data breach in history, involved malicious software installed in the system where cards are swiped at cash registers.

I would never give my credit or debit card to Target, if I shop it's cash only, I don't trust them anymore...

Does anyone remember or have we all forgot???

So no 32g iPad mini on the deal.. How sad, wanted to upgrade my storage of my first gen ipad min 16g

----------

Nevermind just reread the first point... Seen that other capacities are included... We'll see who had a better deal

Yea one time I saw a car accident so now I don't use my car on that street anymore.

Apologies if this has been answered, but is it in-store only? :\

Some have said the deal will be online as well. But the ad does say quantities limited and no rain checks. Probably have to act quick online or in-store to be sure to get one.

Damn, and I just bought my Air 2 a few weeks ago lol

You guys don't listen. The tablet market is over saturated with these things. The everyday consumer is not willing to buy a iPad at full retail and people trying to sale iPads on the used market are still asking $400 for a year old 16GB iPad Air; to stubborn to face the facts so they keep them. So now Apple has to offer deals to resellers in the form of gift cards to entice people.
And it doesn't help that Apple released a 5.5" iPhone. The majority of people don't want to carry a tablet on a daily basis so it stays at home collecting dust.
My household has 4 tablets right now. No need to add another.

The nuts are standing in line for a TV. There have been TV deals throughout the year if you just look at slickdeals. And the TV market is just as saturated as the tablet market but worst. I have a 10 year old 720p flatscreen working just fine.
There is really nothing worth standing in line for anymore. This will be the 3rd year in a row that I will stay home monitoring slickdeals from the comfort of my home.

You mean like Apple who have given all of Thanksgiving week off to its employees.

How about Chick Fil A which is closed every Sunday?

Just because the majority do something doesn't mean its the correct and fair thing to do.
