When I talked to a rep today while I was shopping in Target,he said it was more like a reservation,and when a phone comes in matching the description you want they will go down the list and the first person that matches the phone will get a call. He said they will have that business day to pick it up before they call the next person.

I've talked to people at my local Target (Chicago SW suburbs) and Apple Store and I believe they get a lot of shipments. The Apple Stores likely get more shipments than other retailers like Target, but either way I don't think they ever know the mixture of models that are present in the shipments until they open and catalog them. So Target could get another shipment tonight or tomorrow but of all 7s again, or they may get a shipment of all gold and rose gold 7 pluses, but they won't know until they come in.
