It would be nice if this article and/or Best Buy would clarify if these deals are ONLY in physical stores or if they are ALSO online on Black Friday.

I haven't gone to a physical electronics-genre store in probably 10 years...not even Staples.

Who's your carrier? Are you paying month to month? (Are you done with your 2-years?)

I currently have AT&T, and my 2 year contract just ended.

Just not sure if they are only offering the $100 deal for new customers, or also for renewals.

Return period?

Is there a rule of thumb for the return period for an iPad Mini or Air purchased on Black Friday?

No. Their price match policy excludes Black Friday.

Everything excludes Black Friday. It's its own pricing bubble, unto itself. :)

You'd probably be well served by coordinating with your local store just to make sure they have it. It would avoid being disappointed by just popping in on the busiest shopping day of the year, just hoping they'll have it. :)

Well the 32gb iPad Air w/LTE isn't one of those gifts you just pick up and go on a whim... that's a pretty pricey gift to give. $800+; after tax in LA. So I'll take my chances... if i don't get it not a huge deal. I'd like to save the $50-$70 but if I don't, it's not the end of the world. I already have my iPad.

Wait, so for the same price, I should go for the refurbished one over the freakin' brand new one?

Sounds like you've never bought an Apple refurb product. New shell, new battery, all accessories, and full warranty.

I suppose if you have nobody to spend Thanksgiving with, then maybe it's worth going out on Thanksgiving day to stand on line in the cold for a couple hours to buy "new" vs an Apple refurb.

For the same money, I'd rather just order from the comfort of my home.

Meijer offering good deals too

For those in the midwest with a Meijer nearby: On Thanksgiving Day beginning at 6am, you can get $80 gift card to use on a future shopping trip with the purchase of a Mini, or $100 card with the purchase of an Air/iPad 2.

I'm in the market for the Mini after I traded in my original iPad to Target for the $200, but I like my chances of getting the deal a lot better at Meijer Thursday morning than later on at Target/Walmart.

Oh it should be mentioned Walmart is offering a 1 hour price guarantee on the Mini for $299 with a $100 gift card in return from 6pm-7pm on Thanksgiving. So even if they run out of stock, as long as you are in line you will get a voucher for that price and be notified when it arrives at your store.

I was about to post the same question. Most do not offer them online, but that may have changed.

It does not change the fact that it is a REFURBISHED product.
Also, some of us likes the opening of the brand new product's case.
All the while some of us have family members that simply LOVES to stand in line to fight for the deals.

Meaning exactly what?

Does that affect your usage of the device in a quantifiable real-world basis in the days and weeks post-purchase?

Note I'm talking about Apple refurbs, which are on a different level from third-party refurbs on other devices.

Also, some of us likes the opening of the brand new product's case.

Yep, for some people that has qualitative value. In which case they should do what then need to do to "scratch that itch"

Not everyone shares that philosophy; personally I'm more about the use of the device over its lifetime than I am about whether it's fresh from the factory or fresh from the refurbishment facility.

Still doesn't change my original post that the BestBuy doorbuster isn't a "deal" relative to other ways to acquire the same functionality. EDIT: just talking about the ipod nano deal.

It is still a deal when considering the fact that there is a difference between NEW and USED.
To quantify this, buying a used car and replaced everything with new parts does not get you a NEW car but a used car with new parts only.

Can't wait for Apple's sales event which will look like a joke, compared to these retailers.

Respectfully, you still haven't answered the question as asked.

I get that you feel there's a subjective difference; a matter of perception if you wish to put it that way.

By quantitative differences I'm talking about stuff like looking and feeling new, likelihood of problems, warranty support, service lifetime, etc. The stuff that matters after you take it out of the box.

I'd put money on the fact that you couldn't tell the difference between a new nano (or ipad) from an Apple refurb once they were out of the box.

In my experience, except for the box they come in, Apple refurbs are indistinguishable from new.

I am thinking that 100GC will 'not' be valid on ipad air. Ipad air might still be 479 though. 100gc could just be on all other ipads including ipad 2. Target framed the ad very carefully to fool everyone.

The BestBuy ad shows free shipping on the iPad Air so it might be good online ... they also show 50-70 off but only 50 off on the low end model so the higher memory configurations might get the 70 off ... I'll look online that weekend ... if they offer the prices online I might grab a 128GB Air

My understanding, which is limited, is that as long as you're able to sign up for a new 2 year - and do so - you're good.

To answer your question, I would still feel like I have a much better deal by getting a brand new one versus a used one.

Likelihood of problem, you say? Since I never buy anything refurbished from anybody, I am unable at pointing out all the details. But help me out on this, why was it refurbished the first place? Something wrong got sent back? Buyer's remorse and returned? Or something else?

We are unfortunately some mere mortal human beings that have emotion and feelings. It is logical that we have higher satisfaction on getting something brand new versus something not brand new for the very same cost. Stuff that matters after I take it out from the box includes this.

For your point of once it is out of the box, I cannot tell the difference.
I would use the very similar example I provided to you on last one.
We walk inside a car dealer and buy a brand new car. The moment the car was sold and registered, it becomes a used car. It does not matter if you drive it off the lot or not, it is still a used car and the depreciation takes toll immediately which is an even more extreme example because you did not even have to touch the product, and everything is exactly like the way they come out from the factory with no parts replaced with new ones or not.

To me, we are simply discussing different values in our minds where I value new and like new stuffs differently than you do.:)

I have a question regarding the $200 of 13 incur retina MacBook Pro at Best Buy. Do I have to camp out all night for it? or can I just walk I'm anytime during the 3 day sale and pick one up?

That does come with the deal. :)

If you're in the 45 day return window, you can return or exchange it. I did that last year. If the deal is worth it, I'll go from a 32GB to a 64GB.

and it then goes across some technician's worktable where he or she corrects the fault, puts the unit through testing, and ensures it meets whatever standards are in place prior to continuing down the pipeline. Compare to the mass production process where perhaps not all units are thoroughly gone over / tested prior to ending up in the consumer's hands. Probabilities of issues are impossible for us to predict/assess due to lack of comprehensive data, I can merely say that I've never had any issues with any Apple refurbs I've purchased; they've looked/felt/acted same as a brand new unit at a lower cost.

To me, we are simply discussing different values in our minds where I value new and like new stuffs differently than you do.:)

This is really my point, which perhaps I haven't been clear on. Each should do what works for them. :D

I wish I could score the iPad Air with the $100 gift card from target on black friday without the hassle of camping out to try to be one of the first in line to get it.

Does anyone know if these Best Buy deals will be good online? My 32GB iPad 2 Wifi is worth $194.50 and was thinking of submitting it for a trade. I've never traded anything in to BB so I don't know if I immediately get a gift card or if it's sent in the mail.

If I go with the 32GB Air I can justify the $335 for the upgrade.

EDIT nvm, I couldn't register my account because Best Buy doesn't recognize my address.
