Your post reminded me of this thread from awhile back:
Well, I could sympathize with those who want to move far from the city to a place that's not so crowded with people, where the cost of living is not as high, to a house that's surrounded by some arable land (for example). As one gets older and one retires from the workforce, most people prefer to live a somewhat peaceful area away from the hectic life in the city. That was the case for me and my wife, and we would never like to move to any of the crowded cities we left behind years ago.

When living in NYC I could not understand why anybody would want to move out of there, and only realized the difference when looking at the big Apple and its neighborhoods from outside in. That's when I realized that my teenage years I had lived in a bubble, a place where I had become accustomed to, not knowing that there is lif outside of it.

If one is young and in relatively good health, there is always a chance for one to experience life outside of the only city one has lived it. Life is short, so its best to enjoy each day the best way you can 🙂

Did you move from NYC to Alaska ???

Hopefully as per this morning, we may see the tariffs lowering - without venturing into PRSI territory, that's all I'll say about the news that is breaking.

I enlisted in the military and moved with my family to another US State. A few years later I was moved to Alaska on another military tour, then we (family and I) were moved to CA. The next move was to Northern NY, and then a final tour to Alaska where I retired. I have been in a few places overseas for short durations. Only I was in the military; my wife worked in the private sector.

When I lived in Toronto between 1972 and 1984, I had my own sound and lighting contracting business and had to import a lot of my equipment from the US. Thye deal was, if a product was not manufactured in Canada, the there wouldn't be much "duty and taxes", if a product like light bulbs were imported there would be very high "duties". As the importer, I always paid the duties and taxes, not my vendors. The thousands of dollars I paid were just added to the cost of goods sold, and the clients paid the prices I charged. So don't let any politician tell you other wise.

I wouldn’t worry about tariffs, this Ai slop is going to do a LOT more damage globally for pricing on practically anything with a computer chip in it! They don’t think it will stabilise for a couple of years either.

Excellent points. That's how business is conducted.
