Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso on the TV series, has also been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He's up against Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method), William H. Macy (Shameless), and Kenan Thompson (Kenan).

"Ted Lasso" received a total of 20 nominations [PDF], with additional nominations in categories like Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Design for a Narrative Program, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and more.

A few other Apple TV+ shows received Emmy nominations as well. "Servant" received a nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series, "Boys State" was nominated for Outstanding Documentary and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary, the Billie Eilish documentary was nominated for Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program, and Mariah Carey's Christmas Special got a nomination for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup.

"Central Park" stars Tituss Burgess and Stanley Tucci were both nominated for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance, and "Mythic Quest" and "The Year Earth Changed" have both been nominated for Outstanding Narrator. "Mythic Quest" also received a nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series. And finally, Apple's "Carpool Karaoke" series received a nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy. A full list of Apple's nominations can be found in Apple's Newsroom announcement.

The winners of the 73rd annual Emmy awards will be announced on Sunday, September 19.

Ted Lasso cleaned up as I predicted. Let the naysayers talk now! Lol. Ted Lasso will sweep the categories its nominated in. I predict Brett wins his category for supporting actor.

I’m just very disappointed that Emily in Paris and Cobra Kai got nominated over the outstanding Mythic Quest.

I don't know how Cobra Kai got nominated for anything. That show took a deep dive in quality after season one (which was just alright). I can't even watch it anymore.

Ted Lasso is excellent but some of those nominations sound very specific.

For some context, there are 119 Emmy categories.
10 of the Ted Lasso nominations are the big categories. Lead actor, supporting actor and actress, and best show. Plus they got multiple writing and directing noms which are pretty good too. Bottom line, Ted Lasso cleaned up shop. The other non-Ted Lasso Apple shows mostly got bottom tier nominations unfortunately.

Reading an article about Ted Lasso and knowing that season 2 is coming soon but not sure exactly when, I don’t know why it couldn’t have been mentioned somewhere something like “Ted Lasso season 2 premieres on July 23 on Apple TV+”. It’s like posting a piece of news because it’s news but showing a lack of actual awareness to it.

Agreed, I searched for it in the article, then went to the google bot.

The show just looks corny and ****. Some doofus holding a teacup? Who gives a cr*p.
It's actually a surprising show. I mentioned multiple times that the first time I watched the first episode, I didn't like it. I tried it again a few days ago, and I LOVED it, which simply means that the first time I wasn't in the mood for this type of show. My wife also loved this show. I found very interesting how it slowly changes from pure comedy (almost slapstick with a seemingly clueless main character) to something way more powerful.
I'd love to be more like Ted Lasso, and I'd love to have more Ted Lassos in the world.

Ted Lasso is the best comedy I’ve seen in a very long time. It was a funny, feel good show that came out at the perfect time.
I must agree. See my comment above. However I'd change the "it's a feel good show", to "it's a show about creating your own positive feelings".

I thought the creepy opening camera shot for Season 1, cut off just as you're about to see what's going on up there, was better than the version for Season 2, which seems to go nowhere.
I am finishing S1 today. I enjoyed this series so far.
