This first episode was so bad I could not believe I was watching an episode of Ted Lasso. This is a very bad start to this new season. For me, this was not funny at all. I am not sure I can be bothered with the rest if this is a measure of the current standard of humor.

So basically the same as some people said about the first season of the show.

great football series. however, it goes down hill since S03 sadly. unsure how this season will pull it back with the new plot

Loved the first season. The second season was barely acceptable for my wife and I. Third season was a flop for us. The jury is out on the fourth season after seeing the first episode. We will see how episode two works out before making any judgement calls, but it was an inauspicious start for us I am afraid. Sad, we wanted it to be light hearted comedic entertainment, but for us it seems to have stopped delivering. Each to his own, one person’s feast is another person’s poison is, I think, how the saying roughly goes.😂

I really don't like this show, I tried many episodes but never got why Apple produced so many seasons and why it seems so successful
this show is a really mystery to me

The saccharin was stacked on thick in this episode, really beginning to dislike the fake niceness of the characters.

We watched the first episode last night and it was pretty disappointing so far. Also of the mindset that it had a good ending and they should have just left it alone. Hoping it picks up and they don't ruin a good thing. 🤞🏻
Actually I thought it was really good, as did my wife, so guess everyone has different viewpoints. Glad it is back.

You deduced, that the series will be disappointing after one episode?

Looking forward to it.

Was Ted lasso perfect? No, but it was very good.

In this age of cynicism, it was refreshing to see something that was unashamedly optimistic.

And no one is forcing us to watch it nor to subscribe to Apple TV for that matter.

Ted Lasso was a lighting in a bottle, first season will forever have a place in my heart as an honest feel good show. After Bill Lawrence left after season 2, it stumbled and then fell hard with season 3.

I did give it a try, but barely an episode in with a rough start. I’d rather save my memory of this show to be honest.

This season's seems to be starting out rough. Hoping following episodes will bering it back on track and not feel lackluster.

That said, if I recall Jason Sudeikis said he wanted to spend more time with his family and they settled with three seasons. If there was any potential for another season he could possibly return...and by having another season Apple has pushed the time when the other production companies involved can start to air reruns instead of Apple keeping ownership and distribution rights

This is literally what the plot of the entire first episode is about, if you actually bothered to watch it.

Spoilers, I guess, if you never plan on watching it, his son goes with him.
I don’t plan on watching it in honesty, nothing to do with “if you actually bothered”. The show didn’t need renewing, it had the perfect ending.

His son going with him just takes the son away from his mom/mum, which is why his son wasn’t with him the first time, a split family dynamic doesn’t work over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s completely undoing the entire of the first three seasons for a quick cash in.

Meh, I like watching all of the Teds. Just finished the 1st of the 4th season and will definitely keep on to see how it all plays out 😎
Not everyone can like everything it seems.

Not every show has to be dark and depressing or full of blood, sex, and violence. It's refreshing to watch something that just gives you the feel-goods. It is too bad that Sudeikis openly admitted to being done with the show after season 3. I can't fathom how much money it took to change his mind. 😳

That’s why the mom is going too. Again, these are simple things you could figure out just by watching the episode.
Ted is working at a grocery store, his son is having trouble in school, the mom… Doesn’t seem to be doing too well either… so they all move.
Maybe not the most realistic thing in the world, but it’s a sitcom.

AppleTV has the worst originals out of all platforms' originals. It's just... blend. Even people who watch it (based on the comments here) hated season 2, hated season 3, but will still be watching season 4🥴

Yep. Loved s4e1. And loved all three past seasons. The MR consensus is just that. Out in the real world Ted Lasso did very well.

Based on the opinions aired here I'm clearly in the minority but I watched it and loved EP1! It's nice to have some levity and something feel good in a world of doom and gloom. Just my own opinion, you understand... 😉

And you’ve just proven why it’s awful they’ve cashed in on a needless fourth series. Further undoing the perfect ending they already had. The whole reason he left Richmond was because there was no reconciliation between him and his wife and he wanted to be in his son’s life back home. It now makes no sense they’d all move back to the UK and it undoes the heartfelt ending that they wrote.

It’s not a case of if I’d just watch it because everything you’re explaining is exactly what I fear they’d do, and exactly why I don’t want to watch it. There’s no legitimate explanation to get him back to Richmond without ruining everything they’d done already.

If you’re happy settling for crap to fill your time, that’s your prerogative. I’d rather watch something else, and that’s someone who thoroughly enjoyed all three of the original seasons.
