Ted Lasso will be returning for a fourth season, according to Sigmund Judge, a writer at MacStories and co-host of the Magic Rays of Light podcast.

In a social media post today, Judge said he has confirmed that pre-production of the smash-hit Apple TV+ comedy series will begin in January in London, England. Apple has yet to confirm the fourth season, and there is no set release date yet.

The third season of Ted Lasso ran from March through May of 2023.

Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is a small-time football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. The series has won several major awards since it debuted in 2020, with its overall positive tone proving especially comforting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given how immensely popular Ted Lasso is, its long-rumored fourth season apparently being confirmed is a huge win for Apple TV+.

This is Apple‘s one real “hit” so it’s no surprise they’re bringing it back. It’s never a good sign to have only 1 hit (and small smattering of minor successes) and have to bring it back after it was reportedly done because you have nothing else to offer.

(I gave up on Ted Lasso after season 2)

Not a big Ted Lasshole fan, but I know it is popular. Besides that though, I don't get their AppleTV+ strategy.

‘Allegedly’ and ‘confirmed’ do not belong in the same sentence.

It’s been noted that several major characters haven’t renewed their contracts, so is this a spin-off, perhaps?
That’s my guess.
•the cast members have frequently talked about a spin-off.
•Season 3 gave its majority of screen time to everyone except for Ted himself.
•Jason seems to be the one actor not on board.

So… Ted Lasso Season 4?
My thought is that it’s Season 1 of a show just called “AFC Richmond”.

The last season wrapped everything up, if a bit rushed towards the end.

I hope the season merely inter spreads several scenes of Ted Lasso staying in his home town, happily coaching his son at his high school and rebuild his marriage.

Much of the focus should be on the team itself. I have been watching Welcome to Wrexham and I find the fan and community culture aspect to be also quite fascinating.

I liked the show, but don’t get the hype. They wrapped up the story but bringing it back because it’s one of a handful of shows that caught widespread attention for tv+.

Here’s an idea; why don’t Apple promote all the other shows on its platform? Only in the tv app and in keynotes are not good enough. There is still a lot of confusion over the tv app as well as people thinking tv+ is only for Apple users.

This either has to be the best season yet or I think it's going to backfire. Season three was already fairly weak compared to the other two, so unless they have a really good story to tell I think they should have left this show alone.
