A tracking app which resemble visually to what Dallas using to track the alien in Alien, using it to remember all of your Bluetooh or NFC devices (kind of like Find My Phone), or pin the location i.e. the car parked, to track it later.
Please watch Alien. It's cool. :D

Hey everyone!

I am a mobile developer and have made a few Watch Apps so far - tell me what to make! I can give it a shot. I will write a special thanks to you in the app description too if Apple approves it.

Cheers! :apple:

One usage I'm excited about is using the Apple watch as a sort of "palette" for controlling the options of an iPhone/iPad app. For example, I read about a painting app where the watch is literally a palette for choosing colors and brushes so the canvas is free of controls.

I could see this working with a variety of other apps, including word processing (choose font, size, bold, underline, italics, etc. on the watch), music apps (choose instrument settings on the watch), and so on. I know this isn't a very specific suggestion, but I'd like the watch in general to serve as a companion in this way to help unclutter other apps.

I have a completed Watch app that accomplishes one of the above mentioned. Another is in the works for pinning a location.

The idea with siri starting a timer or tracking expenses would be great. I'll test this a bit.

Tic Tac Toe: http://watchaware.com/watch-apps/tictactoe-for-watch

There is another dev working on a tic tac toe app as well.

You guys have some good ideas!

A simple, voice-controlled app to track my cash expenses. I'd need to be able to add recurring expenses and income (either on the watch or on a linked app on my phone), but what I'd ideally like is to be able to lift my watch, say, "Siri, I just spent $4 on junk food", "Siri, I just spent $12 on books", "Siri, I just spent $499 on tech" and have it keep track of my discretionary-spending balance (and what I spend my money on) for me.:)
Wouldn't adding voice control to Mint accomplish this?

Better yet, always pay with a credit card or debit card and Mint will automatically track and categorize your expenses without having to enter them manually.

How about a dedicated metro app for those that want an alternative to the do-it all Transit? This app would show the arrival times for the metro station nearest you.

A measurement app where you point your hand at one end and then move your hand to the other end. The apple watch would measure the straight line distance between the two points. Actually, I'd definitely have use for an iPhone app that does that.

Great idea!

Oldie but goodie?

Remember those old ball in a maze puzzle games? Perhaps a simple and quick way to pass the time?

Something cool using the tactic feedback could be hotter colder proximity sensing. if you are separated from your spouse in a store it could speed up or slow down based on distance to help find them. Maybe use it for devices if the data is available or fixed coordinates like a parked car. You could even have an arrow indicating direction on the watch face.

How about a remote control for all the apps on your phone, or on your Mac.

Not just dedicated, all of them.

Open them, on/off, etc. Basic functions.

So in other words, interested developers would need to modify their apps to work with yours; like Audiobus, or Dropbox.

After all, this device is the ultimate remote.

Tall order I know. WTF :)

That would be great! But, I'm not seeing this information in the March press release (see link below) and I thought it was generally accepted that Apple dropped walkie talkie. Is there another press release that I'm not finding?

https://www.apple.com/pr/library/2015/03/09Apple-Watch-Available-in-Nine-Countries-on-April-24.html

Sorry my mistake. I had read it in a post here on macrumors not long ago. When I went to go find that thread I realized the press release that posted linked was actually from September.
:)

I wonder if the screen would be big enough for a simple BlackJack game?

Doing a slot machine game would fit for sure. (Awesome idea IMHO-I want a percentage.)

There are many apps to track expenses, but I don't know of any that can be voice-controlled by Siri.

I like to separate my "pocket money" expenses, which come from a small budget I set aside for myself from my "common funds" expenses, which come from my main account, shared with my husband. If I buy lunch for myself, that's pocket money. If my husband and I go out for lunch together, that's common funds. So automated categorisation won't work.

This is going to sound really trivial, but the watch would be a great location for a simple flashlight app. Perhaps swipe to control brightness. It would be way more convenient than getting your phone out of our pocket.

Another I would love is a very direct "find your car" app.

I am interested in minigames in particular - the obvious choice is a Virtual Pet of sorts. Though that seems too straight forward.

Tamagotchi comes to my mind. It will be popular for teenage girls. Think about different animals/pets. the interactions, the routines (feeding/play/sleep) and notification when the pet needs your attention. Unfortunately Taptic feedback is still restriction, hopefully Apple will open it up soon.

Other simple App I would like to see which could be useful if done well:

Water consumption reminder (people drinks less water than they should nowadays due tue busy lifestyle, a dehydration is a serious problem). If you can include: normal activities consumption vs exercise activities consumption that would be excellent.

I like this too. Probably both in 2D distance and 3D (X,Y,Z) since our hands are in 3D planar when move. It will be cool if it can do summation of multiple measurement gestures (including negative) and change units in the settings.

Taptic feedback is still restricted but I like this idea. Is it like a 'ping' sensors that detect the proximity of "registered" user. Similar with "Find my friend" but a lot more "precise" when 2 people get lost in busy Theme Park for example.

I'd also like a "presenter's friend" app that will tap a specified number of times at pre-determined intervals that I can set in advance (before pressing "go" as I get up to speak).

E.g. for a typical conference presentation of 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions, I might want one quick tap after 7.5 minutes (adjust my pacing as necessary), two quick taps after 12 minutes (time to wrap it up), three taps at 15 minutes (time to stop) and an audible alert at 20 minutes (time to get off the stage).

The app should also disable other alerts during the presentation.

Water idea I have been toying with but I think I came up with a great way to make it simple. You sparked my interest in it again - will definitely credit you with helping.

Tamagotchi we have a designer on board that designed this. It is actually the perfect platform for this type of app.

The flashlight idea can work, although it would have to control the phones light, not the watch. I haven't found any good use case for this yet.

Blackjack, hmm. I will research and run some tests.

Honestly you guys have some great ideas! Anything I build with insight on this forum I will credit the originator and should there be any profits, share a bit ;)

To piggy back off the Tamagotchi idea, something that taps into the step counter or health that influences the Tamagotchi's mood or behaviors. There was some app I had that was similar to this. It didn't do much other than allow you to unlock accessories for your creature. I can't recall the name right now.

tracking by voice reminders allows you to control cash expenses too. inevitable for me.

Baseball Apps

One for Umpires: track Balls, Strikes, Outs, Innings, Lineups, score.

One for Managers: track pitch count, balls, strikes, Lineups, etc..

One for fans: keep traditional score of the game on your wrist.

I wish I knew how to create apps.. I'd be all over this!

Try EXACTimer....they have a nice customizable timer app that you can add several different timers. I coach and use this for the beep test. I saw that they will have an app for the :apple: Watch.

ANGRY BIRDS please!!!! i would die if u make it.

Unfortunately, just not possible with the current SDK. It can detect menu-button presses, but can't detect a touch being held down (or dragged), only the button being pressed.

Action games are really hard to do with the current Apple Watch SDK, because of this and because the refresh rate, at least in the Apple Simulator, is just horrible (because each screen update that's not a canned animation requires a bluetooth communication between the phone and the watch). I'm hoping it's a LOT better on the actual watch, but there's no way to test until launch (or an invite to Apple labs).

I'm not sure if it's one that you've thought of or someone else has even thought of, but a custom watch face app. Our friends with the Galaxy Phones have an app where you can create your own face using your own backgrounds. This has even been available on Pebble as well.

Unfortunately that is not possible with current SDK as well. The big watch brands will probably get first access for making faces - but once the SDK opens up I presume a ton of new watch faces will storm the market.
