Persons 3 - 50 probably could care less... Person 51 might buy it, and then persons 52-857813758138 will beat up you, your friend, person 51, and take your spots.

/twocents

I was waiting at the at&t store for the 3G launch down in tribeca and the 3rd person on line sold their spot for $800. Nobody else on line cared b/c their spots remained the same.

Holy crap are you serious?!? I guess, if the guy that bought it was some sort of tech journalist, and needed to get one early on to beat all the competition it makes sense....but seriously?! That's mad.

Ha yea I'm serious. But don't think he was a tech journalist. The guy pulled up about 10 minutes prior to the store opening and just yelled out "who in the top 10 wants to sell their spot in line?"

How early will you start waiting in line?

I'm a new AT&T customer with no reservation, and plan on hopefully being one of the first people in line at my local AT&T store. I'm thinking I will cruise by around 6 PM on the 23rd...if there's no one there, I'll come back around 10 PM and start waiting probably. what about you guys?

There has been a million threads on this. Did you really feel the need to start another? It all depends on your location. You could be right on time or be extremely early, it all depends on where you are.

Don't waste your time camping out at an ATT store. They will likely not have any "unreserved" phones to sell given what we have learned. If you have an Apple Store or Walmart nearby that would be your best shot.

I mis-read the thread title....thought it said "How long will you wait to whine?"

LOL, freudian slip given all the other posts.

Carry on.

I'm not going to be waiting in line. I ordered one online for my wife and we're both content to waiting for apple to ship the unit out.

Order online and avoiding lines, and crazed lunatics camping out for a phone = priceless :)

For the 3G launch I was at AT&T at 4AM and was about 13th in line. This time I'll probably be there around 12 midnight if not earlier. AT&T will always have unreserved phones at least in my hometown because they set up tents and stuff for people to stand under who are waiting in line. I dont think they would do that if they didnt have any phones to sell.

How big the city/town/area that you live in? I'm trying to judge the time myself based off of other people's similarly-sized locations.

I'll be in Las Vegas. well, was planning 4am, until i read the sales news today. Gonna try for either 3am or as early as possible.

I live in Orange, CA. Not the biggest city, but not the smallest either. Pretty close to Santa Ana. Anyway, I doubt that there will be that crazy of a situation, I can probably get away with showing up around midnight if anything.

will be going around 5-6AM at my local at&t store. I live in a town of 50,000 and for the iPhone 3G launch, only 50 people were lined up when the doors opened.

what I'm worried about is i saw videso of the SOho NYC store at 6:30 PM *PM*, 3 blocks long - and I dont want to go there after work and wait till 9PM, STILL not get my phone and they close! Then I have no phone, with no more reservation for the next day.

I personally think the iPhone 4 will be worse than the 2G release, and crazier than the 3G and 3GS release combined....too many ppl are in these days, esp with the new $15 data plans
