Hello there !

Is this issue still ongoing ? I got no problem on Ventura until upgrading today to 13.1
Then my external HP HDMI + Lemorele Dongle starts to have following issue:
1. Screen is not detected
2. Screen is detected and remains black
3. Screen is detected on for couple of seconds then sleep mode

Is it something already experienced ? I tried multiple solutions (removal of profiles, safe mode etc..)
MBP M1 2020 - Ventura 13.1

This is still an issue for me at least. I have a ticket created with Apple and has been escalated up, they are suppose to call me on the 21st with an answer.
However, the issue you are experiencing is completely different than the one described on this thread. have you tried clearing the NVRAM?

I created a ticket with Apple. It has gone up to the "senior engineers" and they know that there is an issue with 5K UltraWide monitors. Normal 5K monitors do not have the issue. There is no ETA on a fix.

This is an issue for me as well. Also using a 5K ultrawide Dell u4919dw.

My tedious workaround is to use the firmware updater on a secondary machine - which appears to "restart" the display. Once it's been "restarted", the monitor works at 5K resolution.

Good news

I have spoken several times with Apple Support and they have confirmed that the macOS developers are working on solving this problem. The answer is "It is expected that it will be fixed in the next update" that means that in 13.2 it should be fixed. He has also told me that this is what is expected although he cannot confirm that it is fixed in 13.2 and he has to wait for 13.3.

But what is confirmed by Apple Support is that they are working on fixing this problem.

Also a User in the Apple forum, assures that the support of Apple Germany has also told him two days ago that they are already working to solve it.

Hello,

I'm wondering if I have the same issue as described in this thread. I have an M1 Max MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.2, and connect 2 external displays via the TS3+ dock. Most days I can't get the Mac to detect ANY display after waking it up from sleep. I don't think the issue has anything to do with the dock or the monitors. The dock works, the displays work with my other computers, the Mac doesn't detect any display even connected directly via the HDMI port. I have other monitors I've tested with. It seems like something with the GPU stops working after some time. The only way I can get them to work again is to reboot the Mac. After that everything works again but then the same thing happens the next day. Worst part is that I've had this issue ever since Monterey (I've owned this Mac for a year and always had this issue.). I have had multiple support cases and no one can figure it out. Having to reboot every day is not sustainable for me and it's driving me mad, but it seems that I'm going to have to deal with it until Apple can figure it out.

The internal display works great though 😒

I haven't upgraded to Ventura yet because I typically run clamshell+ 2 or 3 external monitors. If this has been fixed, I might consider upgrading now.

Out of curiosity, has this been fixed for anyone? My ultra wide 5K is still not working.

I've changed my set-up to go back to using a single cable from an M2 Macbook Pro -> Thunderbolt 3 cable -> Belkin Thunderbolt Dock -> DisplayPort cable -> LG Ultrawide.
It's all working right now but my issues were all related to it not working after sleeping overnight.

I have the same problem I have a 49'' samsung and a m2 pro macbook.

For HDMI it works perfectly for me, it even catches me 5120x1440p but at 60hz, I'm trying to connect it via a USB-C cable to displayPort and there's no way, it doesn't detect the monitor.

I have tried a thousand things, can someone help me?

It is still not working on my 2019 MacBook Pro with Ventura 13.2.1 and the DELL U4021QW.

That said, the workaround outlined above (--> sudo sleep 10 ; sudo kill -9 $(pgrep WindowServer)) works as long as I do not reboot the MabBook.

Just chiming in with a ME TO for this.

Running MacOS 13.3.1

I have an LG 38WN95 and my MBP 2019 will only detect the display if I plug the monitor in via USB-C after a few minutes of being logged in.

If the MBP goes to sleep with the monitor plugged in and then I wake it, it will send through a small blip of power to start charging and then cut off. The monitor displays a completely blank screen during this period.

If i cold boot the MBP with the monitor plugged in it will never display or charge until I unplug the screen, wait a few minutes and then plug it back in.

Super annoying...

Hi, for those of you that updated to Ventura 13.4 Final (released a few days ago), do you still have problems with external monitor via USB-C ?

I just updated my 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch (intel) 13.4 and the problem still persists. I have a Dell U4919dw (firmware M2B108)

I am connecting directly from the MBP to the Monitor using a thunderbolt cable.

I've tried killing the WindowsServer through the terminal (as suggested by many) as well as through Activity Monitor. Both ways result in my computer hanging at the login screen.

I am baffled how Apple allowed such an egregious issue to persist for so long. Everything was working great on Monterey, but the moment I updated to Ventura it rendered my monitor as a paperweight.

I have the same monitor with same firmware, had endless problems with trying to connect it directly to the USB-C port via thunderbolt cable to my MacMini 2018/2020 Intel thunderbolt port.

I have survived by connecting directly to the Dell U4919dw DisplayPort port and doing the "sudo kill -9 $(pgrep WindowServer)" after login - when the display goes into kaleidoscope mess; and I have not updated the MacMini to 13.4 (it is still on 13.2.1).

As a hail mary, I turned on beta updates and there was a new one available (v13.5) after the computer restarted THE MONITOR WAS WORKING AGAIN!!!!!! it seems like they finally found a fix for it.

i was able to use it in clamshell mode as I did previously!

I hope this is true. Been having issues with Venura and external displays since its release. My MBP freezes completely for a few seconds when connecting external displays via USB C, especially in clamshell mode - currently running 13.4. Let's hope 13.5 fixes it for good.

Same problem here with MacOS Ventura 15.5 (Beta) and LG49W monitor. Suddenly stopped working after automatic updates (blank screen, no signal).

Killing WindowServer didnt work for me either. displayissues, which monitor do you have?

What monitor do you have? I just installed 15.5 beta 3 and still nothing works. I have the LG49W
I have an LG49WL95C-WY... mine hasn't work since I upgraded to Ventura... So almost a year without it working
