I have 2x series 5, me and my wife. Wife is 6.0.1 and I am in beta 6.1. We have 1 common thing turn off the noise detection. Her’s 6.0.1 battery drain more then mine 6.1 and she don’t work out daily which I am. We will wake up 6.30am morning and walk our boy to school, work and come back home around 9.30pm. Hers will only left with 10-13% battery where mine left with 45%. Both IOS is 13.1.2. And it been 2 day straight same result even before 6.0.1. I think Apple need to release the watchOS 6.1 quick.

For those, why you guys have to turn off like LTE, wrist wake, wifi...etc function to prolong battery life, should all these have to be on to enjoy your applewatch which main to be?

Dipping my toe into the ‘testing’. I am within the 14 day period for my AW4 so went and grabbed an AW5 last night. I do like the AOD more than I thought I would, even after a brief time. Liked glancing for time. Random note, I was able to check the time at my local coffee shop this morning without looking at my watch at all.. as the barista had the 5 as well.

My ‘testing’ setup:
Latest OS installed and fully charged
AOD on (using it as designed/sold)
Theater Mode while I sleep (11ish to 6ish)
Sleep tracking apps used
Off wrist but not charging during shower/prep
LTE off (I only turn on cellular as needed - didn’t even activate it on this 5 yet)
Notifications from about 5 apps.
About 5 apps installed
Brightness all the way down (still plenty bright for me)
No workouts for this test - to mimic recent use of HRM other than AW for workouts

Came off charger at about 11:30 Tuesday night - slept in watch (in Theater Mode)
Woke up with about 96% (Theater Mode really helps..)
It’s 10:00 AM Wednesday and I am at 83% - pretty good but not quite indicative yet as it’s been in Theater Mode about 7 of the 11 hours it’s been used.
Matching the 4 would be 50% at 11 tonight.. not likely for first charge but we will see.

My battery life has improved since 6.0.1. I was at 47% when I put the watch down last night after having it on from 8am to 11pm. Before it would have been in the low 30's.

S5 44mm 6.0.1 and iPhone 11 13.1.2 here. Yesterday I was a little more hopefully.. I was around 45% after 12 hours (4.5%/hour), though 45 minutes of that were off wrist.

Today, only two hours into wearing it and it's already 90% remaining (97% after first hour, so dropped 7% in that second hour). This is normal wear, close to phone, checking time occasionally, no workouts/music streaming/gps/cellular use/etc...

Return window closing in two days, not sure what I plan to do...

So last night I unpaired and re-paired my S5, setting it up as new. 3 hours off the charger, it’s at 94%. This is definitely an improvement, but my experience with this watch is that sometimes it starts off as strong, but depletes faster later in the day.
By the way AOD is on, as is noise monitoring and listening for Siri.

I use my watch for sleep tracking so usually before I go to bed I charge it to 100%. Last I took it off the charger at 2130, noise detection off, always on display on. Woke up about 0500 was at 85% and for some reason 45 min of usage, went to work for at 0600 and then to the gym where I used the apple workout app for 43 min doing strength training. LTE, GPS all on. It's now almost 0900 and I'm at 62%.

Usage at 2 hours 12 min
Standby at 11 hours 6 min.

Update - 72% remaining at 12:30 PM. If it can maintain this it’s on par/slightly behind the 4. Actually impressed as it’s the first charging cycle. I made sure to turn off any music/playlists sync.

My experience so far:

iPhone XR iOS 13.1.2 / Apple Watch Series 5 44mm (GPS) watchOS 6.0.1

On the watch the only features disabled are: Raise to wake, Handoff and Siri (“Hey Siri” & “Raise to talk”)

9 hours standby, AOD on, noise off. Done a 1 hour walk on LTE and mowed the lawn for about 40 mins listening to a podcast(already downloaded) over AirPods.
I can live with that.
AW5 SSG 44mm. watchOS 6.1 beta 1, iOS 13.1.2 iPhone 8+

Check-in..
2 hours of usage
15:40 of Standby
63% remaining

Lost some ground versus the 4 but that’s still under 3% per hour overall. The 4 would be at 50% at 11PM tonight. Will see where this one is. Again, first charge cycle so it could get better with a few cycles and hearing 6.1 can add 5-10% improvement. May be a keeper.

S4 non-LTE 44mm iOS 13.1.2 watchOS 6.0.1. I'm getting 48 hours going from 100% down to 10%. I only have to recharge every other day.

Awesome! If I do some back of the napkin math.. with just the first charge cycle I will be short about 6 percentage points every 24 hours. This would put me in the low/mid 40s at 11PM tonight. Historically, battery gets better after a few cycles.

At 20.30 it’s on 33% so think will settle for this.

It lasts me all day til bed so for me that’s probably enough

I have series 2. Just updated the other day to 5.3.2. I’m shocked at the battery drain. 100% at 8:00 am it’s now 1:30 pm and I’m at 23% and its dropping rapidly. Normally I’d be in the low 90s. it won’t make my workout tonight.

Environmental noise monitoring appears to NOT drain battery.

Wife and I with identical setups except I hade noise monitoring on. Same battery levels with same usage.

S4 40mm with all other features on like siri and bar.

Do you have music sync on? What apps installed? Did you restore from a backup?

I purchased an AW5 SS LTE 44 last night and had it fully charged and updated by 11PM. I have been off charger since 11PM (in Theatre Mode while sleeping for 7 hours.. per AutoSleep)... it’s now 3:45 and I have 59% remaining. This is charge cycle 1. I expect it to get a tad better.

I'm doing OK at a little under 3% per hour. On 6.0.1. If I go to cellular with little/no signal (and away from my watch), it drops REALLY fast, but for me cellular is more of an emergency or exercise thing, so I will just toggle cellular when I need it. Easily will last a day, probably not two, so just back to charging overnight.

I do the exact same thing, only toggle cellular on when I need it and know it will accelerate drain.
