Well I ended up returning the AWS5 on Friday and ended up getting another one. I returned it because I was within 2 week return period, and just wasn't happy with the battery life. So I picked up a new on on Saturday, same model as the one I just returned. I do have to say though that the battery life is great on my new one. Previous one, around this time, would be around low 80's but with the new one around this time shows 90%. Great improvement.

Anybody tried turning off raise to wake to improve battery life? Think with AOD it makes sense to just tap to wake it I would say

I would just confirm what others have mentioned--battery life improves quickly after the first few charges. I am running about 2.5 to 2.75% per hour, down from 4.4% when new. The only tweak was to immediately turn off cellular (unless needed). [My house is in a weak signal area, and if I am on cellular, away from my phone, the drain was REALLY fast.]

It seems my battery life gets better after every overnight full charge so far. Today I averaged about 2.2% an hour. That's compared to 5% an hour after I first got it and my usage has remained the same. I use the timer, stopwatch, and Now Playing very frequently.

How long have u had the watch? I’m at 50 percent with 11 hr standby/ 3.42 of usage (Includes a 1 hr n 15 min workout) so over 4% a hour. SG 40mm gps

I've had it since September 27. The first week was crazy, with the battery going down much faster some days and not others even though my usage was the same. That seems to have stabilized.

Ok, thanks I just got mine this Friday so will give it time. At the over 4% rate it should still last me until the next day but would love it to be at a 2% rate u r getting.

Yes with Raise to Wake off and everything else enabled I’m currently at 50 percent battery - 26 hours of use is my current pace - included some cellular and listening to music time.

Odd as most think it is software related that is causing the battery drain. Glad you have a better functioning unit Now.

Strangely I had similar results (though I returned mine within 4 days, not 2 weeks). After losing 50% battery on a 40 minute run (and having fully unpaired/repaired, reset as new), I exchanged in store. New model is not perfect - with a GPS run and a full 18 hour day for me, it's close - but at least I'm in the ballpark, whereas on the other model I was done by 4pm.

Got a cellular S5 late last week (upgraded from cellular S3). After a few days of usage, AOD on, Raise to Wake On, noise level off and just using it like I always used my S3. Work, daily errands, some outdoor walk activity tracking and at the end of each day ~ 7am - 11pm never less than 50% remaining. I'm happy!

I wonder how much noise level even affects battery, they say it barely does.

with 6.0.1 and series 4 2 hours of screen usage (no gps) 12 hours of standby 7% of battery ....

i wonder if different watch faces provide different battery life, maybe something with a bright white background or a lot going on with complications will run your battery down a bit faster than one with a few complications?

Got my S5 Nike on Friday. Played around with it a lot on Friday and Saturday, so battery life wasn't great. Yesterday was my first full day of using it like my S3 Nike.

Took it off the charger at 6am, did a 30 minute outdoor walk, with iPhone, no music streaming and used it normally throughout the rest of the day. Finished with 3 hours 1 minute of usage, 14 hours and 2 minutes of Standby; 54% left on my battery. With my S3, this would be closer to 65%. So while it is worse, it's not too bad in my opinion.

I have a 44m watch. AOD on, Noise On (but no noise complication) and Raise to Wake on.

This is in line with what I am seeing. I did a 45 min workout outdoors. I turned off my iPhone BT but it came back on so not sure how much AW/iPhone GPS was used.

At about 19 hours off charger I was at 50%. I have had AOD on, noise off, and raise to wake off.

My AW4 could go 48 hours. It looks like I could get the 5 to about 40 hours as it stands today with similar use. I wish it could match the 4. WTS, it charges so fast that if I put it on the charger while taking a shower, doing something where I don’t want it on my wrist (dishes/cooking near fire and granite) it charges VERY fast.

I am out of my return period but I have had two workouts where my battery life dropped 1% per minute, so 40% in 40 mins. This was just so bad I thought it must be software so I was awaiting 6.1 before doing anything more. Now from your post it seems it could be hardware related. If this is true then there will be a lot of people affected. Not happy.

I just figured out that if you're syncing your iPhone to your Mac (I upgraded to Catalina and it proceeded to re-sync all my music dammit.), the Watch it's paired with can/will experience battery drain. I was losing 1% every ten minutes. Then suddenly when the iPhone finished syncing with the Mac, the drain ended.

I got my watch on friday, and the jury is still out. I took it off my charger at 1AM. Woke up at 7am, got on a plane and head to work and it's been over 14 hrs and i still have 38%.

Keep mind in that i don't use cellular since my phone is setup for cellular AW. based on S4, i notice some lag, but it doesn't seem too bad. Time will tell.
