Is there a way to adjust the time before the screen dims? I’d like to extend mine.
Look in display under settings.

I recently read (again) Catch-22 and your comment reminded me of Milo Minderbinder. ;-)I usually turn my phone on just before someone decides to call me. Then I turn it off, when they are done. The real trick is not to turn the phone on for spam calls. That way, the spammers just go to voicemail.
Well you're free to think it, but what I posted was my experience.False, of course.
Speak for yourself, it’s become helpful not to have to raise my phone and unlock the phone to see if I have any new notifications, less of a hassle now and at the end of the day I still have plenty of battery life. What a fail of feature, that's why everyone that I know that has the iPhone 14 pro has disabled it.
It takes some time getting used to when you’re in the raise to wake habit, but I’ve never looked back. It allows my Series 5 watch with it’s original battery at 80% battery health to get through the whole day with some battery remaining at the end!Hmm that’s actually a really good idea, I never thought of that combination. Because I really like the dim AOD screen but I don’t get to see it very often
Burn in on an organic based panel is not “anecdotal experience “.
But maybe you prefer to believe to marketing narrative
I experienced OLED burn-in on my Watch Series 5. The technology has vastly improved, but it's still not perfect. There's plenty of evidence in recent OLED display technology that it's really not an issue anymore - it's definitely not something to be fannying about over.
Your misunderstood experience.Well you're free to think it, but what I posted was my experience.
The ghosting was pretty well pronounced on a white screen (like reading an email or something), but when I disabled the AOD, about a year later the ghosting was definitely not as severe.
FFS. It has been tested scientifically 100x. It does not. Period.AOD on certainly causes a hit on battery,
Burn-in was pretty noticeable, then a year later, it was difficult to see. Not really sure what there was for me to misunderstand, but here we are. 🤷♂️Your misunderstood experience.
So, what you're saying is that a display that is always on draws the same or less amount of power as a display that is always off...? Interesting, would like to see the "scientific testing" done on that, sounds like someone is defying the laws of physics and chemistry. Or, far more likely, you're talking nonsense and dressing up your misguided opinion / belief as fact.FFS. It has been tested scientifically 100x. It does not. Period.
Display Off retains 100% battery after 24 hours? No, its still on your network, pinging locations, backing up to icloud, etc.

Completely agree with this, IMO the watch was useless until AOD came along.I can’t even fathom turning it off on the watch. AOD was a game changer on watches and my series 5 gets the same battery life as my series 2 without... which is a full day charge. I charge every night while Sleeping.
I don't even understand how this happens to people. was the screen on for 4 hours straight full brightness?I have OLED burn on my iPhone 12 Max 😔😔 I can see the IG icons burned into the bottom like a pink hue and there is also a pink hue in the top right corner from some app’s icon.
I've had a series 5 for 3 years. no burn in at all🤷♂️ Its def not the normI experienced OLED burn-in on my Watch Series 5. The technology has vastly improved, but it's still not perfect.
Seems to be 5000mAh (S22 Ultra) versus 3200mAh (14 Pro), so about 55% more efficient on the iPhone. The standard 22 is closer at 3700mAh. So the Apple implementation looks to be more efficient, but what matters to the user will be time between charges, of courseThey leave out mention how big the 14 Pro and S22 Ultra battery is. They may both last the same time and drain to 84% in the same period but if the S22 has a larger battery that is not really a "good" thing.
I got an iPhone 12 last spring because it was 50% off but the battery is nowhere near my 8 Plus before it. I thought I would only miss the large screen but turns out the large iPhones run a lot longer. In the future I plan to get "the big one".Battery on my iPhone 12 on iOS 16.2 is total garbage the las 20% on battery saver just makes it last 20 minutes at the most and when I close apps the apps still sound on the background its a total nightmare, plus I’m most certain the battery degraded faster because I sed a wireless charging station
I am not a tech blogger, just a user. Me and my wife, we turned off AOD within a day of receiving our iPhone 14 Pro's. We have AOD turned off on our watches too. We are happy for others that enjoy AOD, but we have no need at all. In my social circle, nobody has AOD turned on, also not on Android phones. Based on my social circle, I would say that a vocal minority wants AOD. Apparently your social circle is such that you think the opposite. It is seemingly once again only a vocal minority of tech bloggers (and commenters!) who claim to be "distracted" (come on, really?) by iPhone 14's AOD with wallpaper - likely the same crowd who complained for years about the notch, which no ordinary user minded. To each their own, of course, and it's nice to have the new toggles. As with the notch, those of us who enjoy, or don't think much about, AOD with wallpaper are simply less vocal about it. The feature works exactly as intended, doesn't consume much battery, and - for me - has been a value added over the 13.
I went from the 12 Pro Max to the 14 Pro. My 12 Pro Max, with a battery at 85% capacity, had better battery life than my new 14 Pro. I have AOD disabled, and battery life is acceptable. I'm worried about battery life once my 14 Pro battery reaches 85% capacity. So yes, based on my experience, you should be worried about battery life. The 14 pro on the other hand seems to have worse battery life than the 13 pro , even with AOD disabled
I have a 11 pro max but can’t stand its size anymore and am planning to go either 15 or 15 pro next year… and I gotta say the battery is concerning
Hopefully the 3nm brings better battery life
It is my experience that a phone in airplane mode still uses energy, even with the screen turned off. When I still used airplane mode overnight, it would cost about 10%. Maybe with current phones it is less, but I'm not buying 0%.During the start of the video, he makes mention that they turn on airplane mode so that all phones are 'equal' as far as extra drain.
I agree that it is great that we have an option. Reading all the posts ever since this feature was announced, I feel like people who love AOD are trying to convince people that don't that they should turn the feature on. So, completely the opposite of what you are reading. I guess it depends on ones own opinion which posts stand out most. It's great that we have an option to turn it off or on. I feel like those that want it off are trying to justify their reasons why they want it off to those that want to have it on. It's really simple, who cares if you want to have it on or off. As long as you're happy that's all that matters in the end.
