My friend was just bragging about his score 4 over his GF a professional color correcting proofer who got a score of 8. I've been calibrating monitors by eye since color TVs 1st became available. Yeah, I'm damn old! :D I also worked in the video industry extensively and with CGI. Anyway I got a score of 0. YAY! \(-.-)/

Anyway, the highest score is 0 and the lowest is 99. Where do you score?

Not too shabby, considering I did it quickly. My error bars were all in a row, and almost the way to the "right" (purple-pink transition area) of the color graph.

Does it make a difference how well your monitor is calibrated or is it dependent on just how well you can associate blocks of colour regardless of how they appear on your monitor?

This is the world's worst calibrated monitor (with purple colour casts) but it's a throw away from an eMachine.

I'm pretty happy with that, and could perhaps have done even better without the sun shining in my eyes.

I hand-calibrate my monitors (can't afford a Spyder), and find the process immensely frustrating -- not because I can't get it close (my images always print true to color), but because I can see the most subtle differences in color in those little apple squares and can never get them to entirely go away.

Meh, ok I guess. I had to use a TN monitor, so I blame that. :)

Even on my crappy Dell monitor at work where the blocks all look the same, I was able to score a 9. I'm curious to see if I can score better on my Apple display at home later.

I just pressed okay, didn't change a thing, just to see what would come out.
I will try later with my better monitor.

What I find odd, is that I can score 997 points if the lowest (highest) is 99 points. Also why can 1520 be the highest score?

I may not be to bright today, so please excuse those questions.

I calibrated cameras for a while, but that was with the help of a waveform monitor, as I quite don't trust my colour perception ( I wear glasses and have two different eyes).

Perhaps the position of the colour blocks are randomized upon loading the web page which would account for different results.

It's alright to me. I have -7.75 correction lenses, and that's doesn't even correct my vision the whole way.

I'm on a TN monitor too. :) ($200 24 inch dual LG "L246WH" to be precise.)

It may matter if the calibration diminishes the ability of the monitor to display certain color contrast ranges. I think the test creators selected colors in the middle of most color and monitor profiles in order to eliminate that kind of error as much as possible.

I understand that they are randomized, but why is there a lower score (997) than on the scale (0 - 99)?
Yeah that's weird. I understand that you just clicked GO without arranging anything but like you, I think it should have given you a 99 or a 97 or whatever and not a 997. Odd. Oh well, let us know what you get when you take it for real.

I got 4, this is on my 2006 MacBook Pro, calibrated with a Monaco Optix XR. All four errors are in the cyan range (blue-green crossover), so I suspect the panel can't differentiate them well due to a constricted gamut. I'll have to try it on the Mac Pro; I'm sure that will be easier due to the much larger gamut and a panel with a brand new backlight.
