I agree this is quite creepy. My subconscious mind goes to great lengths to avoid direct eye contact in real life. Now, with the computer altering my appearance in ways I don't even realize, it's going to make people think either I like them more than I do, or that I am no where near as afraid of them as I am. What if it starts creeping them out as to how often I'm looking straight at them? I just don't know if I can deal with this kind of intimacy getting forced on me.
I just had this conversation about maintaining long distant relationships via facetime and a drawback being that you're not able to look into each others eyes. While I agree that this feature seems a little creepy because the software forces you to 'look' directly at the other person, I can also see the benefit it might have. It remains to be seen how this feels in praxis.

You shouldn't generally avoid eye contact IRL bub. Most men are afraid to maintain eye contact with strangers–especially of the female variety–because most men are acutely aware they are not alphas. People of all backgrounds subconsciously evaluate each other on behavioral cues like these. Practicing prolonged eye contact with strangers is one of the single greatest true life hacks a man can use.
