Tethering + MMS + Visual Voicemail all working!

OK, apparently I was a bit off. 😕 I figured an APN link was necessary, but I guess that only shows if if you overwrite or supercede the standard settings.

Well all is done, Visual VM still working and still have tethering option.

I will see if camera becomes enabled in MMS.

I keep getting a self assigned ip when it shows up in network prefs that never connects to the internet and tethering, anyone know why?
 
I never get the "cellular data network" or APN under usage? Any thoughts...Ive done everything else and have tethering and voicemail but no MMS
 
No luck...

I have a newly JB phone: 3G and only sbsettings loaded from Cydia. No tethering or other mods before this. I followed your instructions and successfully replaced the Att bundle via SSH. Have rebooted and reset network settings. No evidence of either tethering or MMS.

Any thoughts??
 
I was able to send MMS and today i had to switch my sim card out and re enable it again on a old phone any1 else have this problem?

So nothing under Settings > General >Network? Should be "Cellular Data Network" option + Internet Tethering option in there.

If not, i have absolutely no idea why it wouldn't work for some of you. Perhaps you actually have to load the .ipcc through iTunes instead of replacing the ATT_US.bundle file, but that doesn't make much sense as loading any .ipcc through iTunes just essentially writes the bundle folder in your phone anyways. Doing this drag and drop is the exact same thing.

Perhaps it's a folder permissions issue? Make sure the ATT_US.bundle folder i uploaded has permissions set to 0755; if not, you can also try 0777. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you guys. My original post was exactly everything I did and everything works fine for me. Weird....
 
I didn't have anything showing until I DL'ed the replacement APN settings to enable tethering, so that must be it.

After deleting those settings and doing a reset, nothing comes back, even with your bundle replacement. Therefore, it sounds like the ipcc must be manually DL'ed to phone.

If you get a chance, perhaps you can post as to where in iTunes the ipcc file can be located.

In your original post you said you had ATT version 5.0....On my 3g is says version 4.0...Do we need version 5.0 for this to work...Otherwise it makes not sense that it does not work...And APN is nowhere under any heading in settings..

My guess is a replacement APN has to be installed on the phone to get the tethering & picture MMS to work.

There was an address out there for the AT&T APN to enable tethering, which I did DL and APN settings pages activated on my phone (see posts above with screenshots)

I could not get the MMS function with camera to activate for me.

yeah i have this same problem...it seems that when I put the sim in my old phone and make a few calls and log into att website it shows that i am using a non-iPhone. A few hours later i was not able to send MMS again. I logged into my ATT web account and it showed that i am back on an iPhone device. I am not sure if that could be the problem but im open for suggestions.
 
Poster needs to post or give URL of ipcc for version 5.0.

Until that APN is DL, this isn't gonna work.
 
Well after messing around with this this afternoon, AT&T has now blocked MMS on my line and I cannot get them to re-enable it. I am just trying to send MMS with my Nokia 6085 and can no longer do it. I have messaging unlimited for families on my account, and iPhone data plan.

OK, this is clearly for iPhone OS 2.x

When I look in to /private/var/mobile/library there is nothing at all like the file you describe and for which you want me to use yours to replace. There is NO ATT_US.bundle. I am on iPhone OS 3.X and inside the folder you describe are two folders called Carrier Bundle.bundle and Operator Bundle.bundle and inside these folders is all sorts of stuff that has the words ATT in the file name.

If your little trick works on iPhone OS 3.x can you let us all know and if not, can you revise the instructions so that it will work or if it is just not programed that way due to extensive changes in OS 3.X that make it impossible to just replace the bundle, then please tell us that and we can move on to search for other ways to get MMS and Tethering.

It didn't work at all for my 3G. In order modify the carrier settings, a different APN is needed to override the resident AT&T settings, and his method doesn't do that.
 
I have a 3gs and ...at least I don't have a ATT carrier whatever folder

so I had to rename it Carrier Bundle.bundle

I got it to show the video or photo, but still failing 🙁 and I've tried everything...well almost Im off to the at&t store and get a media net package....

I wouldn't waste your time getting the media net package, but that's just me. You could get that and still find MMS doesn't work or it'll work for awhile and the stop. See the threads about it. I'd just wait until they deliver MMS officially, but hey, if you want to try, go ahead.

ok people if you want the mms to work you will have to use apn ims.cingular you can use if for the internet too but the tethering will go away but is up to someone to make it work like this

ims.cingular
visual voicemail
ims.cingular
mms
ims.cingular ,mmsc.cingular.com, wireles.cingular.com

trust me this will work but someone will have to make a bundle setting for this to be ssh'ed in to the phone good luck out there oh yeah by the way wap.cingular has been banned long before mms came around so don't use it anymore till att changes that good luck guys

oh sorry guys i forgot to tell you that you will have to get off the iphone 30 dollar plan and move to the 15 dollar one good luck
