I think I'd be tempted by a 6 Plus, if I didn't own an iPad mini retina. I thought about getting rid of the iPad mini retina and my current iPhone 5 and replacing both devices with the 6 Plus, but there are still days where I don't want to carry a purse and love how the iPhone 5 easily slips into my jacket pocket.

Since my carrier doesn't support 4G on the iPhone 5 I will upgrade this year to either a 5s or the 6 Plus. Interestingly, I'm not really keen on the smaller 6 at all, it's kind of too big for those purse-free days, but too small to function as an eReader/browsing device like the iPad mini. :D

Of course vertically. Horizontal is asking for it.

Even the smallest iphone always went in my pocket vertically. The one shown in the pic a few posts back was a tight fitting pair of jeans with very shallow pockets, very unlike the sort of jeans I wear. Perhaps those were women's jeans, which traditionally have a tighter fit and smaller pockets than standard men's loose fitting pants. Also if you're of a slim build like me the pants aren't likely to be that tight against the thigh.

Every person I have seen or met that has a 6 plus has made no mention of needing a purse for it......I mean cmon man...

I have a 6 plus and have not once thought to my self " hmmmmmm i need a bag or purse of somesort to carry it in"....

A special iPhone 6+ backpack.☺️

Waiting for the 6S

After having the 6 plus for awhile I thank the gods above that I did not settle for the 6. Originally I thought the 6 Plus was too big but now after getting used to it, it is an amazing experience. The experience is much greater than that of my girlfriend's 6. My camera is noticeably better than hers, both with photo and video. Also, I didn't think that the screen resolution would be noticeable to my eyes but my display is clearly more sharp and beautiful than her's. At this point, the size actually feels comfortable and picking up my 5s felt laughable, it felt like a miniature toy.

Oh and the battery is heavenly, just heavenly.

Point of this post: Everyone get a 6 Plus. It is well worth it and is clearly the better phone.

edit - this is making 6 users mad evidently lol

waiting for the 6S w/ 2 gigs of RAM faster processor and OIS in the camera... maybe they will cram a 1080p screen in there as well.

That's where the Lord Almighty steps in. Use a pocket if you're a believer. Or go with a bag that is the Devil's handiwork.

Thank God I got the 6 Plus

The 6+ already has 1080p and OIS. Now maybe they could include OIS on the smaller model, but 1080p on the smaller screen would probably not make a visible difference.

Everybody I know with the 6 Plus (mostly where I work) says it is rather cumbersome to carry and that is its biggest downfall, excuse the pun. It sticks out the top of trouser pockets and has to be removed before sitting down. It's fine when you slip it into a coat pocket but the problems will surface again in summer. Maybe in some countries baggy cargo trousers don't make this an issue, but from people who wear tighter jeans and suit trousers (for men) it perhaps is. One of the mods here with a Plus has said he's bought a belt clip because it's too big to comfortably carry in his pocket I seem to remember. I find my iPhone 6 can wedge itself in my pocket and it's a lot smaller as a device. :)

I totally disagree. Perhaps those people have a size to small of their clothes and don't want to admit it. I'm carrying my 6+ constantly in my trousers of suit, chinos, jeans. Suit and chinos tend to be slim fit, and have no such issues whatsoever. I also don't get it that the top sticks out, never encountered that one. It sinks all the way in my Levi's without issue and I sit down and drive a car and ride a horse and run and walk my dog etc.

Heck the other day it was like a magic pocket with my 6+ a works BB and my wallet without ruining the lines of my trousers.

A 6 plus cannot comport with the significant variable that is humans of all sizes and shapes, the kinds of clothes they wear, where they frequent, levels of dexterity, personal needs, on and on and on.

It works pretty well for me. I replaced my wallet with a wallet case for my iPhone 6 Plus and that is how I carry it.

Slim fit clothes which have been in fashion for a few years now don't tend to come with deep pockets over here. I have just measured the depth of my pocket on the Levi's I am wearing today out of curiosity and it is 147mm deep. How long is a 6 Plus? Isn't it roughly 158mm long? Our Finance Director here wears grey slim fit suit trousers and you can see the top of his Gold iPhone 6 Plus, so how do we explain that? A few of the other lads here carry it in their back pockets because they are deeper and designed for carrying wallets.

I'm 5' 8" and of slim build and can assure you my clothes fit perfectly fine. My standard size iPhone 6 fits in my pocket but is only about 10mm from the top when vertical. I often have to reposition it when I sit down because it wedges from the bottom of the pocket and into my waist. In some of my trousers like slimfit chino's where the pockets are slightly shallower, even the top corner of my phone can be seen. I don't really know what else to say? You say you have no problems at all. Perhaps you are a lot bigger than me and most of my friends and colleagues? Products are designed using anthropometric data after all and human beings come in many sizes. It could be that being a taller/bigger person this is relative to the size and depth of pockets on clothing. I can't think of any other way to explain it because in my experience I haven't met anybody who hasn't said its rather cumbersome when carried in a front pocket.

To which we can add, birds of a feather flock together. Meaning that groups could dress in predominant ways and as a matter of group taste as dictated by the fashionistas of the world.

Or hope for another World War where we are back on rations and can go back to making all our own clothes again. We wouldn't have to rely on companies deciding trends and how we look, but most importantly, how deep our pockets are. ;)

I also wear Dockers and other dress pants and the 6+ fits in those as well.

But all bets are off if someone wears skinny jeans. I could see this as a problem for skinny jeans.

I have checked out both for the last few months, I tried a Galaxy S5 and the 5.1 is just a tad big, so the one I am getting now is the 64GB Black 6, I have had the white iPhones for sometime, and going to the darker bezel helps my eyes, there is too much wash out on the white one. That being said I think the 6 should do better with battery than my 5S hopefully fingers crossed.

I used to have to charge my 5S every few hours and I haven't plugged in my 6 yet and it's been over a day of standby time and usage.

I'm really surprised about the depth of the pockets. Is that an American thing. Like letter vs a4. I haven't got a single pair of trousers where it rises over the top of the pocket.

I agree on the skinny jeans. Then again no man should wear those. Really not a good look for your sack and two potato.

Gotta agree with you on that one. There are several different options for jeans here in the US (not sure abroad). But just for me when i buy jeans i get the loose fit jeans. Just for the reasons above! :) Gotta have room for the important stuff!

Haha...Agree, agree :D

I don't think it is an American thing as such. My Levi's have shallow pockets sure, but so do all the other jeans and skinny chino's I also own that have no American influence. In my experience European clothing trends don't tend to follow those from across the pond as its most often the other way around for mainstream high street fashion lines. You are from the UK you must see the types of lines currently on the high street?

The thing with men's skinny jeans is they generally come with enough space where it matters, much like women's sweatshirts tend to have a bit more space in the chest area. It is how clothes are designed, again with anthropometrics considered. I am young and wear skinny jeans because they look cool and its the fashion at the moment while at the same time being comfortable. Just because I contribute to a tech site it does not mean I shop in Gap and wear baggy 90's jeans to reinforce my geek status. :p

Hipsters will be hipsters! some will wear tight clothing to sooth their egos....then complain their phone doesn't fit in their pocket! It is amazing how some with do anything to justify and feel good about their choices. Like saying negative things about the 6+ because they chose the 6.
Here are a couple of pictures from the web...
The 6+ fits in most jeans just fine. But skinny jeans well....not so much.

As a female who also wears tight jeans/pants. My 6+ does not fit in my front pockets. I can maybe fit about 1/4 of the phone in my front pocket. In my back pockets I can get about half of it in there. Which is doable but I don't like half of my phone hanging out.

I just put my 6+ in a wallet case or clutch case and just carry it like that. Not a big deal.

That is an advantage us men don't have. :) Women can carry a purse or bag and slip their phone in it. We don't want women to stop wearing tight jeans!:)
