I know it wasn't mentioned in the post about no walk-ins/reservation system but I'm wondering when will the reservations be able to be made on the 10th or the morning of the 24th?

Well it remains to be seen how effective this reservation system is.

It won't deter scalpers altogether though. It just means no more queue.

I think it COULD get rid of those scalpers in the big cities who line up all night every night with cash for 2. The reservation system will obviously require names to be registered WITH ID for security. Yes, the scalpers will probably be able to get 2 but at least they will not be getting 2 every day. I remember stories of people who could not stand there all night coming back each morning in some places to see the SAME old people waiting with cash for stores to open.

THANKS APPLE!

I could see a minor refresh or some new band options (a red modern buckle, leather bands for the space black stainless steel, and perhaps some colored steel or aluminum watch body options) this fall....
That sounds very plausible. It would allow a level of new-ness for holiday shoppers, while not rendering all of the Watches sold this spring obsolete.

Indeed, presuming the Watch does reasonably good sales numbers this spring, a nice Apple-produced band (especially if it's in a new style not available in early or mid-2015) would make a good holiday gift for a large number of early Watch adopters.

I was kind of disappointed with them ruling out camping out, because I was planning on camping out, but I really don't think I will be able to take the day off on the 23/24th of April so I kind of gave up on camping out anyway. I still think they should've allowed it, but at the same time carrying all those SKUs would've been a nightmare.

Overall I'm not too disappointed with them doing away with camping out for the :apple:Watch, bu I still think they should've allowed it. As long as they don't get rid of iPhone campouts, I'll be okay :D

This is off topic. But can u tell me how u got the black Apple in your response? I have an iPhone 6. Running 8.2. I can't seem to find that symbol on my keyboard. I have seen people using it.

Any help?

On the side there are the Smilies section, or you can just type : apple : (minus the spaces in front of the 'a' and after the 'e'. :)

Reading the articles on the MacRumors main page it seems like you won't be able to try on different band and watch combinations, only the the standard ones on display. In other words they won't swap out bands so you can try different ones with the watch.

Also when you make a reservation for one of these try out appointments you won't be able to reserve a specific Apple watch model and band combination. To do that you have to make the reservation online to reserve the particular model and band combination you want to pickup in store from the 24th.

Cash is so yesterday. The modern scalper will load up on as many gift cards as possible, each with enough to purchase 10 units, then distribute them amongst his or her minions.

The reservation+ID system worked in theory for the iPhone 6, but Apple stores don't communicate reservations to each other. So a group of scalpers could simply each buy the maximum number of units from one store, then go to another and do the same with the same Apple IDs.

This will be interesting to watch. One big difference from the phone releases is that we had to decide whether to hit apple or our phone store. These will be all apple.

The only time I did the phone store campout there were 4 people ahead of me when I got there an hour before it opened. I actually knew two of them. The first in line had been there alone most of the night. When the store opened there were about 30 in line.

I wait in line for an iPhone every year because I can't preorder online (unlimited data plan on Verizon; only contract renewals allowed for preorders).

I'm happy I can preorder an Apple Watch and don't have to wait in line. I wonder if part of the reason they're killing the camp out is that there isn't any cellular activation process. I would imagine the buying process of the Watch is very quick, allowing them to move through more inventory, and it would look bad if they sold out early in the day.
