Why are you so mad about this? You have a perfect phone, be happy and stop looking for things to be angry about, life is too short.

because of FUD like "this issue is growing by the hour" and perceptually inept comprehension if this is already an issue or potentially an issue.

But why is that taking away from your happiness? To each their own. If you are happy, to hell with everyone else. When/if my 6+ arrives it will elate or disappoint on it's own merits. I don't care what anyone here says. Well, except for good advice. That's always appreciated.

Didn't you say you had a 15m/o? You should be rightfully on top of the world! And congrats if correct!!

Yeah this whole issue really has become "bent out of shape"; and I'm not saying that humorously either.

People just need to chill, be congnizant of the physics of their device, and be appropriately responsible for it.

People are just concerned as to the durability. The 6+ has already been shown to be less durable than the Note 3, but that doesn't mean it is unacceptably fragile either. It's fine to discuss and it's fine for people to post their experiences. The truth will come out either way and nothing any of us can do will stop it.

We will find out soon enough if the phone has issues. I do not get upset about posting topics and just skip the ones I do not want to read.

Thank you. The " it doesn't bend!" replies are laughable. It surely bends, and easier than most other smartphones. Does it mean yours will bend? Who knows.

I would take a heavier, thicker stainless steel frame like the 4/4S or a plastic back over then thin 6061 non-tempered aluminum they used for the shell.

I have a very round, bubble butt. I'm not a front pocket phone guy but absolutely keep it in the rear. Do you think that the 6+ can bend even without sitting just based on the curvature of your butt?

Before you jump to conclusions, this is a big debate on Twitter as well if you search iphone 6 plus.

Thanks!

It's on HLN right now. They polled people on the streets to see if they carry their phones in there pockets and most all said back pocket. The person reporting the story, pulls out his Note 3 from his back pocket and says how he has never had a problem with his and then says "look at that wafer" pointing at the 6+ video of the guy bending the phone.

This says nothing to prove your point; in fact it helps gives credence to mine. "Some" is used properly in reporting news when it is an uncountable or uncertain situation. You said there were two people that had this issue. I am not sure where you got that number, but are you sure that it is only two and not more? Presumably the author is unsure if it's two, or two hundred, or two thousand.

In any case, we are arguing over a word. For the sake of this particular article, either word could have been used. The word "some" may have been consciously used because the author was not able to give a definitive statement on whether this is a majority or minority issue. The word "some" allowed that to remain ambiguous and not imply quantity. The authot could have used "few", but that would have been the author putting in writing a word that implied it was, indeed, a minority. Would that have been a safe word to use? Most probably yes. In this particular case, either is likely fine.

If the goal of the video was to determine which phone could withstand being forced to bend with all the force one can muster with their bare hands, then the Note 3 would be a clear winner. Otherwise, what was being proved other than that plastic tends to maintain its shape better than metal (which we ought to have already known)?

Also, a test is only as good as the controls that are implemented to ensure its results. I mean, how do we know he was really giving that Note the same bending force as he was the iPhone? I don't know that guy; maybe he's biased (not saying he is, just making a point) and didn't actually give the Note his full strength.

I personally am not going to make a buying decision off of something like that.

Unboxing therapy is an apple guy. He uses apple computers and iPhones I think.

Well, I shouldn't have even implied that it might be bias, that's not fair. I would fully expect a plastic device to be more flexible than a metal device.

Indeed but I think the degree to which the 6+ is bending, especially since it seems to bend only from being in a pocket, is horribly unnaceptable. If this is somehow a narrow thing and a non issue, which seems doubtful at this point, great but as It stands if the phone Is bending in a front pocket there is a definite problem and apple should have either engineered around it and honeycombed the metal and reinforced it or made the phone thicker.

Still waiting for proof this phone is bending in the front pocket.

So far I've seen people claiming it does...

No proof, no videos nothing

Even youtubers have used both hands with extreme force to bend this thing...

With users like this who needs Samsung, Apple's own users will make a non issue (bending iphones) which are statistically insignificant right now into a major issue with major publishers of news outlets using only macrumors as their examples and no where else . lol: so toxic

It only bends when you put it in your pants pockets.

Stop putting it in your ****ing pants pockets!

Stop putting the phone in your pocket; really? If the phone, which is at most five days old, is bending because it is kept in people's pocket, that is a very real problem. Here are a couple of reasons why:

The first:

The public generally expects to carry a phone in their pocket. Cellphones have been marketed to us in this fashion.

A person should not be expected to change the way they behave just to fit a new product in their lives. The new product should conform to the way a person lives his/her life.

I have had a cellphone since 2003 and I have kept all my cell phones in my pocket. 90 percent of the planet will put their phone in their pocket.

The second:

The iPhone 6+ has only been out for five days. In five days we have already had complaints.

If this issue popped up say a year or two into the release of the device, I would be more sympathetic to the argument that it’s just normal wear and tear caused by carrying the device in a person’s pocket.

If someone's phone warped that much over a short period of time, what does that say about it longevity? Not very much. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see significant failures over the long term.

My HTC M8 is now 6 months old and it hasn’t warped yet. If it has warped at all, it’s not noticeable.

I do want to make this observation.

I don't own an iPhone 6, but I do own a MacBook Pro and have had several Macbooks going all the way back to 2004. I’ve owned iPhones in the past and I have also owned iPods.

I have noticed the same issue with common problems on any Apple product. Rather than finding support in the Apple community, there tends to be a vocal group which criticizes people who are having problems and makes ridiculous suggestions. If you discuss them, you get chastised by the Apple Community for bringing it up.

The reaction of the Apple Community to this problem is the main reason why many people will never buy Apple products. It’s one of the reasons I get frustrated with the Apple products that I own.

I’ve also owned PCs in the same period. I have noticed a very different response from the PC community to common problems.

Take Vista, the community collectively expressed its frustration with the operating system. Microsoft was forced to respond with Windows 7. The community was actually pleased with that update as it addressed many of the problems people found with Vista.

Look at Windows 8, the community expressed even more frustration with that operating system. Microsoft was forced to reply with Windows 8.1. The community hasn’t accepted that completely either. Microsoft's CEO was forced to resign and Windows 9 is expected to address the most common complaint (the lack of a proper start menu).

I have also noticed in the past 10 years, Apple quality has suffered. The quality of Apple products in the past was much better than it is now. Look at the iBooks and the iPods from early 2000-2004. The devices lasted longer. They generally worked very well. Despite updates or any other major changes to the device, the devices remained functional. My friend still uses his iBook from 2004 for some things, although he has upgraded to a new Macbook for his daily needs.

Bendgate is just the latest example of common defects in Apple products. If the community doesn’t hold Apple accountable for poor products, Apple is allowed to release more and more poor products.

In the long run only harms Apple. If someone had a bad experience with an Apple product, that person discovers it a common problem with that very same product, and finds very little support in the community for the issues he/she had, it’s unlikely that person will ever purchase another Apple product.

The opposite is true as well. My first Apple product was an iPod, it lasted me 4 years before the hard drive died. Sure the hard drive died and it was disappointing but that’s to be expected after 4 years. The longevity of the product was one of the reason I decided to purchase a Macbook over a competitor’s device.

Unboxing therapy, an apple guy right before the test showed his phone was bent from being in his pocket. Do you want him to somehow magically capture the phone bending in his pocket through his pants?

But who on earth goes around bending their phones????

This is a non issue

Like the grip of death during the antenna gate.

Who went around holding the phone like people on YouTube did to prove it lost signal?

Unboxing therapy is not an Apple guy. He's a tech guy....

Yes I want a non-bent phone in the front pocket and then show it how it got bent....

Surely if people make videos of iPhones being shot at, blended etc they can recreate this front pocket bending....

Well if you're that damn specific and picky you better wait a bit longer, the phone hasn't been out that long and most people bend it accidentally, how in the hell do you want someone to capture that?

For a video test for pocket bending you'll just have to be patient or request one, I don't know if anyone will do that but we'll see.

You're asking for an unreasonable level of proof though when we have pictures of numerous people saying its bent in their pocket a video of a guy who had it bend in his pocket etc. Too widespread at this point for everyone to be a liar.

Also he is an apple guy. He tried to spew damage control on the video when he bent the iphone 6+ even. He also exclusively uses apple computers if I'm not mistaken. Big apple fan.

The most I've seen is this video albeit with a case on...

No bending mind...

Too widespread?????

Two guys who mysteriously joined Macrumours this week have their first post with photos of a bent iPhone....

Same week when Apple beats every record with 10million phones sold when it's only been released in a handful of countries...rest of Europe, China etc still to come...

With Samsung already trying to release the note 3 earlier than planned

Oh yeah I'm sure they're samsung shills. That makes so much more sense than someone who joined a forum because they actually have a problem, I joined this forum when I was about to buy something, others join when they have problems. There's nothing sketchy about that at all other than your grasping need to deafend apple with your they can do no wrong mentality.

We will see shortly how bad this problem is, plenty of people were posting pics on twitter the other day of bent phones to, I only see this getting worse.
