@MacFoxG4 @09872738 @TheShortTimer @RogerWilco6502 I have reason to believe it wasn't an accident.

The OP of this thread made her displeasure with my presence very clear by including multiple veiled jabs targeted directly at me, as evidenced by the "before other folks were trying" comment in regards to browser performance tweaks (completely dismissing foxPEP, which the average Joe can actually make use of, unlike other tweaks). In addition to the other comment of "sharing that knowledge without a shred of pretence", which when taking her previous disparaging label for Sorbet Leopard into account, paints a clear and defined narrative being played here.

Add insult to injury, the "revealing just how much more can be done with PowerPC and Intel architecture beyond the bounds of OS X" comment just prior to the previous point, totally ignores what the library of information organized in The PowerPC Debian Wiki has enabled others to achieve on their own over the two years-plus it's been up, including assisting @wicknix in the creation of Debian Sid Remix, alongside the almost 20 pages' worth of help and support I continued to offer for other users.

And in the last statement, considering there are even additional acknowledgements for pretty much everyone who has maintained a somewhat consistent and non-destructive presence here over the last two years, makes me very plausibly believe that there is a passive-aggressive underlying motive here.

-

That being said, perhaps I owe you an explanation.

I would be able to overlook that if it weren't for the fact that despite these glaring omissions, 40 people immediately poured out their overwhelming support and approval for this in one big and carefree Summer of Love, seemingly forgetting all the things I've decided to pour 2.5 years of time into, despite two of my longest projects being in constant view at the top of the forum. And for an entire week (which would have been much longer had I remained quiet - maybe I should have), as other threads and discussions came and went, no one saw the slightest thing amiss with this gesture. Certainly, no one questioned it. And that struck me.

Life is hard enough behind the screen. Really. Especially after 2020; so many of us are now struggling with mountains of horrible issues no one saw coming (I could mention a prominent one that my signature has passively addressed for the last several months, but I will hold my tongue). The last thing I need now is to maintain petty rivalries with certain people online and only receive silent glares from others, just as I have for years. In truth, I don't appreciate their presence, and they probably don't appreciate mine.

I'm heartened by your support, but I don't know if the mostly silent support justifies the warring undercurrent here. And the fact that I was left out so easily from the "Let's Love Everybody" thread, which everyone ran with despite its clearly barbed conception and execution, was enough to remove any reservations I had.

Someone once told me that for better or for worse, some view this forum as an arena ... and I can absolutely see what he meant. And the truth is, I can't work in an arena when the world outside is already a gladiator pit.

This place will be fine without me, just as it was before I signed up.
I'm just going to point out one thing you may not be aware of because I never brought it up.

The FoxPEP thread is stickied because I asked the mods to do that. I asked them to do it after the discussion we had in my tweaks thread. You were working on an actual project that was better than what I was trying to do. I thought it should be visible.

I hold no animosity to you or anyone else here.

That said…this thread and one that I made a long time ago on Facebook is proof of why you should never tag people. There is always someone who will be forgotten or deliberately not mentioned. The end result is not good.

@z970mp As a sidebar, we talked about this kind of thing in another thread a while back. The thing about being developer is you need tough skin. Do you know how many times Cameron got dogged for tenfourfoxs slowness or lack of this or that? Did it stop him? No. You also wouldn't believe the messages i get (not from regulars here, but in general) complaining about AF/SW/IW/tenfivetube etc. Does it stop me? No. It happens to devs every day. Remember my palemoon forum threads I linked to? Does it stop anyone else here creating stuff to help our beloved machines live longer? What I'm saying is if it were blatant or not, just look past it and keep plugging along. My take is if even only 1 person finds anything I did useful, and appreciates the work put in to them, then it was worth it. Chin up my friend.

Cheers

I have no idea what the beef between forum members might be.
And it doesn‘t matter really. Coz you may have issues with someone, but you don‘t have issues with members in general.

The forum may be fine, but its even finer if not losing you. And frankly, what would you win? You belong here after all. We are all nerds summoned here in this place for a reason

Dude, you have my support 300 percent ! You are the only one, aside from Wicknix who treated and still treats me with respect and dignity. I will miss you too. I don't blame you for leaving due to the horrible comments the OP left about you. I do want to say FoxPEP really does speed up tenfourfox much better than script.

Again, thank you for giving us the ability to speed up our older PowerPC machines with that app. I know i am grateful FOR IT.

One complaint I have about tenfivetube - ITS SUPER GREAT !!!! nO COMPLAINTS here. I like it. WickNix you are godsend to help the community. Sadly, i DON'T know assembly language or c++ myself, other wise I would make apps for the community myself. But, no complaints here. I am grateful and appreciate your hard work. Yes, being developer is tough skin - you have to take the BS and not allow it to get to you. For that, I support you 300 percent. Now, lets start with tenfivetube with altivec :)

Try tolerating the accolade of being called the person "who's ruined this forum for everybody."

Fact - amount of work put in does not equate to amount of respect or acknowledgement.

This is the best online "safe space" I've joined but nevertheless, it's like the real world in that it has it's fair share of troublemakers, bullies, cowards, lost sheep and self promoting egotists.

Unlike the real world, they know they can get away with anything and avoid prosecution or a punch in the face....

I cannot find the thread and the one I remember it being is not it. But…there was a time you called me out for being less than nice with a (then) new member over a minor point. I guess that puts me in with the troublemakers group! ;)

Thank you, all.

I think the real issue is that I'm just going through a lot right now, and as you know that when a host of problems build up, the smallest things have the capability to tip the scale. So maybe it was a minor overreaction on my part.

Without a doubt however, I am blessed to be regarded this way. I did not expect that at all.

Therefore, perhaps I will reconsider ...

There will always be people everywhere in any environment that cause problems much like DroneCatcher described.
I think here all of us share an important thing in common; an unhealthy attachment to old computers. PPC Macs mainly, but some of us even share other interest beyond that. I've had brief discussions on here about LaserDisc's, retro x86 PCs, and even cars. We usually don't have anything negative to say, at least not to each other.

Whenever there is a large congregation of people, there will always be differing opinions. And sometimes differing opinions lead to hostility. But as I said (also in my thread where a similar topic came up) this sub forum does pretty well compared to most others.

When it comes to the internet I try to avoid conflict, as it has no purpose other than pointless arguing. If I see it I usually don't reply and just move on. For example, I have the politics forum ignored so I don't even have to see it. I've never posted there, but I know it is not a place of healthy discussion at all (unless you consider an echo-chamber healthy discussion I suppose) therefor I don't feel the need to participate in it. This also keeps me unbiased towards any members of this forum who may choose to participate in it (which is fine).
When it comes to these sort of things, any conflict is 100% avoidable. Even if someone else pushes you. That is why there is the ignore function and why mods exist.

I was unaware of anything going on between OP and z970mp, but as an observer I would say I don't think there was any ill intent by omitting z970. Even if there was.. My advice would be the same as the others. Move on 🤷‍♂️ Most of us know you have made some very good contributions (FoxPEP is kept in the same folder as TFF on my file server so I can make sure to install it on everything I use TFF on!). I hope you start to have some better times behind the screen. Don't let anything that is avoidable on the internet get to you. You know your own worth.

Just for the record, as some may not know, the PRSI forum was closed recently. I'm not sure why, I didn't care enough to find out.

This is not entirely true, at least not today. Many get caught and PROSECUTED.. years back, it was different. Here in Ukraine, everyone gets caught because of how we are governed. Any person can get punch in face, but in the virtual world, you can get away with MURDER if you want. So, your statement is not fully true regarding real life prosecution and getting away with stuff.

They may not agree, but I agree with you and you indeed have my support and encouragement. They judge me too.

So...you say I've got it wrong but in the same paragraph you confirm my point by saying "in the virtual world, you can get away with MURDER if you want." Huh?

They judge me too.

Are you surprised?

In the past you've regularly ignored help and advice, written murderous, emotional outbursts about Google, repeated the same questions again and again over different threads, created a commotion over OS9 failings in the modern era but then fallen silent when solutions have been found.

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink."

I remember you haranguing me over YTBrowser9 not being available so I spent half a day trawling the net for all the components, tested and uploaded it but your only feedback was "You didn’t have to, but thank you."

People have thresholds - I have no issue with you and I suspect no one else has either but think about how you contribute and communicate on here.

I just want to say thank you to @B S Magnet for initiating this thread and to ALL of the folks mentioned throughout the thread including @z970mp - all contributions are beneficial, regardless of how much recognition is received.

It is possible to read into the OP’s subtle hints at not including some names due to forum politics. But let it be. Your work is greatly appreciated.

Filter front-man, Richard Patrick, who was a founding member of Nine Inch Nails was also pretty pissed for not making it into the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with his former NIN band mates last year. He handled that with far less humility
