This set of requirements looks a little bit strange. The desire to have display port and FW indicates that the laptop will be used as mobile workstation. In this case, having slim design (and even backlit keyboard) seems like an unnecessary thing.

Yes slim design is completely unnecessary for a mobile workstation, better to lug that mac pro around. And when you connect some audio hardware via firewire and use it in a dark studio or a dark nightclub playing music a backlit keyboard is completely unnecessary too.

I just got this new 15" Macbook Pro, because I am forced to buy Mac at work. I love it, but only because I play my games at home...on my PC. It really is a shame this doesn't have a decent GPU with 1024 MB. 256 MB? Killer graphics? I would have spent my bosses money on the 512 MB, but what's the point?

nearly identical to a 335M 1gb ? cmon buddy !!

let see how the crap 330M runs Starcraft 2 and specially Diablo 3.. not to mention the games that are coming this year..

Oh dear, shows how much you all know doesn't it?

The 2.66 in the new Macbook Pro is the Core i7 right.
The Alienware M11X has a 1.3 GHZ single core CPU with 3mb cache. You can upgrade to a dual core if you want but it's the same speed and cache. This most likely goes a long way to explaining why a new MB Pro will play a game the same as an M11X if not better, unless of course you think the CPU has absolutely nothing to do with how fast a game runs?
Oh and the memory is also different, 800 mhz in the M11X and 1066 in the MB Pro.
