Sorry if I didn't specify my point of view. Also I didn't feel it was necessary to go into the specifics of how the two works in this situation since as I pointed out we are talking about the observable output.

Well, you know how this crew is, leave off a fact, or appear to have a fact wrong, and it's pounced upon like a pack of dogs on a three legged cat. :)

So what kind of dog are you? That's cool I need someone to keep me in line also it helps to have a intelligent counter point to help explain points I may have forgotten to expound on.

The issue with the display is over. I phoned several resellers and only one admit the problem - even then there was only one computer to be repaired. Good.

:D

This means that I might be able to place my order quite safely (if there is a such thing) and wait up to 3 weeks.

YES !

That's what it takes to get it to Scandinavia (northern Europe)

Just came to my mind:

As we all know Apple charges a ridiculous amount of money if you buy extra memory. I like to put in 2gb eventually but I can get started with 512Mb

So, should I order the "basic pack" with 2 x 256Mb combs and buy 2 x 1Gb when the prices come down as there will be multiple sources for 1gb combs or should I order BTO with one 1gb comb and add the other one later...

What do you think ?

And the viruses are without par! Go Dell!

Have you ever considered why you aren't hearing about guys cutting major motion pictures will a Dell laptop running Premier or Pyro Pro or whatever?

That's because those are baby toys.

Dell made a great PC? Great! You're still stuck with Windows to use it - so enjoy the crashes! Enjoy those viruses!

Cross your fingers you don't lose an entire project because of some security hole - because those crossed fingers are all that's protecting you.

You're gonna run Norton? Great! That'll be a huge help AFTER they figure out how to protect you from whatever new virus is out that week.

I love these people :D

1) I do NOT run Premier or Pyro what ever. I do run AVID
2) I do NOT use Norton (it sucks) I do use F-Secure which is requested by U.S. Federal Government to ramp down their protection level with some products (I do not know why)
3)I do recommend swordfishx do read the whole thread or at least the last page. It might give some extra light...

I assume that all Apple Powerbooks are built in the same place.

This means that laptops with special keyboards (includes couple of scandinavian letters which no do not exist in english) are built on the side of the main production lines.

What I am thinking is to order a laptop with scandinavian keyboard straight away to the UK. I think it should be OK?!?

i am confused, did this thread go from troll-dom, to just spam-dom? Or was there a point besides when I posted prior to this, where it wasnt junk? I think its funny that the focus has shifted from your first post type of mindset, to a happy go lucky lets all play in the park mindset. It's a bit suspect imo.

If you read it clear through there is a lot of good input and information.

It is a long way to the light....

But I think I am starting to figure out something good. There was a final crossroads as I figured out that there is 64bit AMD in some PC laptops which made me to stop for a second.

Then I visited AVID webpage's dicussion forum for Express Pro and there were people who confirmed that Mojo (AVID's real-time video accelerator which will be connected to firewire 400 port actually WORKS in Apple laptop with external HD despite the statement by AVID that they cannot guarantee that it will work in any laptop with external HD.)

So I though that I must be fool if I go for any other computer than THIS one which is tested and capable to do what I want.

So, I am about to place my order. Apple PB 15" (1.25Ghz) with 2x256Mb, 80Gb 5400 RPM HD + the memory will be increased to 2gb after New Year.

There is just couple of technical questions. Its basically all about my request with the keyboard. Re-sellers cannot order one with the Scandinavian Keyboard to me to UK. This means that I have to order it from my home country / have to phone Apple and try to figure it out.

Anyway, I will be an owner of my very first Mac - rather sooner than later.

I agree. This thread is also a very good material for Apple Marketing people :D

One more thing...

How to get OSX 10.2.6 ?!?

Current PB's have 10.2.8 - doens't they ?

thats great to here, welcome to the light side of the force... LOL

actually if you order a PB now, it will be loaded with 10.3

i'm sure if you talk to apple they should have something lying around

I was surfing on the Apple website when I found this:

Check out the picture at the bottom. Powerbook & stand & external display...

I thought that what about if I buy my laptop from UK and when I return to my home country in coming spring I buy an external display & keyboard.

OK - What is the problem?

In that case I do want to attach that special Scandinavian keyboard to my laptop. However, the OS is the English one so do it recognize the different place of certain letters in the external keyboard ?

You can change the keyboard layout of the OS in System Preferences to any language or keyboard layout you like.
