Did you get the UPS Custom Clearance scan from out of China?
The last update on UPS is that it was released by a govt agency.

As for the timestamp vs specs, I think it is probably a combo of both. I hope yours changes to shipping soon. What specs do you ahve?

Agreed on a combination of timestamp & specs. I ordered on pre-order day 11AM- 11:45AM EST Pro Max Siera Blue 128GB (Shortly after I wanted to upgrade to the 256GB but didn't like the shipping dates).

Promising news as one person reported a delivery over the 10/6 - 10/11 Group.

A new market intelligence report says that 2021 smartphone production is being hit hard by the global chip shortage, and that means growth will be significantly slower than expected.

iPhone production is faring better than other brands, but is still being slowed – with iPhone 13 cameras a particular issue …

2021 smartphone production being hit hard

Counterpoint says that things were looking good earlier in the year, but not so much now.

The smartphone industry was set for a strong rebound this year after COVID-19 had hit the market hard in 2020. Smartphone vendors placed large component orders from the end of last year, and consumer demand coming from delayed replacement purchases buoyed the market in the first quarter.
However, some smartphone OEMs and vendors are reporting they had only received 80% of their requested volumes on key components during Q2 2021, and the situation seems to be getting worse as we move through Q3 2021. Some smartphone makers are now saying they are only receiving 70% of their requests, creating multiple problems.
Counterpoint Research believes 90% of the industry is affected and this will impact the second half forecast for 2021.
The company says the market is still growing, but has downgraded its 2021 smartphone shipment forecast.

According to Counterpoint Research’s latest Global Smartphone Quarterly Shipment Forecasts, total units shipped for 2021 are expected to grow by only 6% annually to 1.41bn units; Counterpoint had previously called for 9% annual growth to 1.45bn units.
The hit to Apple is likely to be less severe than most of its competitors, however.

I ordered about 1:45PM EST on the 17th. 13Pro Graphite 512GB

Not sure exactly what "Preparing to Ship" means, but I wasn't expecting to see even that status this early.
You were 2-3Hrs after I ordered the 13PM Sierra Blue 128GB (I think my theory may just have a tad bit of weight to it, regarding the specs being a factor for availability).

I'm in the Oct 11-18 group and got shipment notifications last night. Says estimated delivery is next week, likely Friday October 8th.

Ship details show that it's in transit from China.

Too add to my other post. I pre-ordered on launch day, mid morning some time. I was playing golf early for a charity thing and completely forgot about the pre-approved process I'd gone through. Until today I had determined to stop checking and resigned myself to getting it in mid October. Lucky me today! I got an email notification that it had shipped!

Preparing to ship means it's begun its journey from China and has been assigned a UPS tracking number. It won't update to Shipped on apple's site until it's cleared customs in Louisville and begins it's final leg to your home from there, but you can track it earlier than that.

Check UPS MyChoice (free account is fine) and see if you have tracking yet. If not, go to the Tracking page, click track by reference, and try either your phone number or your Apple order number minus the last digit as the reference. You can usually pull it up that way, and track it fro China, to Korea, then to Anchorage, then to Louisville, and then to you.

@skeedawg That's great & thanks for sharing as it brings hope to the rest of us that have minimal movement. What are the specs on your phone ?

My status as of today...confusing that it says it's been released by customs, but still shows 'Clearance in Progress'. Guessing some back end update still needs to happen. Also odd that is shows est delivery for oct 4, but the Apple site still says oct 8.

I've read several similar comments to yours; seems as if the tracking system/s needs recalibrating.

Once I see it hit the Mesquite, TX distribution center I will have more confidence in the delivery dates. Thats' the central DC where all of my stuff usually hits before it lands on a truck for actual delivery.

Two app process.

Flightaware to research the flights departing the airport where your package is located.

Match to scan updates received by UPS. The window is normally 30 minutes from departure/arrival of the flight. Mostly following departures because that will tell you what to follow and then you can stalk the next leg of the journey.

INVENTORY CHECKER

At this rate might as well wait for the 14 :p its outdated tech now

Check apple.com early like 6am and try to buy the phone and see what stores have it in stocked. I bought my girlfriend one and it was easy peasy. I couldn't imagine waiting weeks because some stores actually have stock.
I will most certainly try that & many thanks.

Well no change since Friday for me. Apple says delivery on Friday 10/8, and UPS still says estimated delivery today. Any one else have movement?

FYI - this took on a greater sense of urgency this weekend. I got caught in the rain and my XS Max has just about died on me. I guess I put the water resistance test a little too much to the test. My screen is dead but it does have power, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get a good backup before my new phone arrives.

I am in the same boat. However UPS did just update the time for today's delivery. It was between 1-5pm but now showing By 7:00pm. However, there are no updates on shipment since 9/30 and based on that it seems like it is still in China. Hoping it is an updating issue with UPS but not holding out hope that it will be here today.

@skeedawg @mattauchtj Based on my recon some significant movement is happening for the 10/6 - 10/11 group so things maybe looking favorably for you guys.
