I agree, and not just for tradition's sake and giving Wembley a bit more prestige Wembley is a pain to get to from elsewhere in the country, as well as been pricey in terms of ticketing and travel.Joking aside, I never did like the idea of the semi finals being played at Wembley. A neutral middle ground makes much more sense, leave Wembley for the final and the big day out!
Agreed. We all know "it's grim 'oop North" 😉 and having to travel down south and drink flat beer in a semi final Wigan will be expecting to win probably doesn't appeal to many fansI agree, and not just for tradition's sake and giving Wembley a bit more prestige Wembley is a pain to get to from elsewhere in the country, as well as been pricey in terms of ticketing and travel.
For this particular tie, you'd think a Midlands ground would be ideal Villa Park for example. Looking at the fixture I'm sure Wigan supporters will fancy their chances of progressing, so I reckon more than a few will be gambling on just going to the final to save themselves a fair bit of cash.
There was the ridiculous situation of both Manchesters City and United having to travel there to play each other a couple of seasons back, when the north of the country isn't exactly short of suitable venues. Madness.
On the other hand, by keeping matches at Wembley we're stopping southerners from heading north and spoiling things up here. So the current system has at least one plus point. 😉Agreed. Goal-line tech will be coming to the EPL next season. Took them bloody long enough.
