^ OWs post remains rather cryptic to me ;)

Who the duck is Phil Jones? Face of the year.
But Aguero making PL title race finally interesting again? Not so much.

Only advantage with Lewa going to get benched in OldTrafford? He's not going to play for Munich!

didn't know about his trademark. Mr. Potato Head? lol.
Maybe he should watch and learn by BJT then?!

Strange ref yesterday, wasn't it? First half whistle blow = WTF??! I didn't care, but if it would have been me on the pitch...:D

Time was up, but I can understand being unhappy in that position - not quite Brazil and Clive Thomas. The WTF should go to Rooney; less than a minute to half-time and he tries to dribble the ball out from the edge of the United box!

The ref let a lot go on both sides.

Enjoy the game tonight.

Cheers,
OW

At first I thought Phil Jones was being victimized by malicious photo editors, but those grimaces appear to be his natural expression.

A totally irrelevant game from Man Utd's perspective, and nothing more than a face-saving gesture on the part of Man City.

The worst thing about this for me is that the post-Ferguson era is just going to be Chelsea and Man City endlessly trading titles. Definitely better than Man Utd winning them, but lame nonetheless.

Dortmund on course for the exit door of the CL thanks to an offside goal...and failing to play like Dortmund.

EDIT: Oh? now then...

EDIT II: Haha...looks like i spoke too soon. Dortmund win and march into the semis, also thanks to an offside goal.

European refereeing has been shocking this season.

Was just about to leave the pub, but then....

hard game to watch yesterday, hard for those not really interested in both clubs since the level was low, hard for Dortmund, they played mostly awful yesterday (Lewandowsky's first goal was awesome, though) and hard for Malaga supporters as well. :D

BUT LOVED IT!

Entertaining game in Istanbul, with Galatasary casing some bottom clenching moments for Real, but the late goal to add to Ronaldo's earlier one sealed it

Great back heel flick by Drogba though!

Oh, and Wednesday won, taking them up to the dizzy heights of 14th!

Edit: So Wigan are unable to sell their allocation of FA Cup tickets I blame Maggie Thatcher! ;)

Joking aside, I never did like the idea of the semi finals being played at Wembley. A neutral middle ground makes much more sense, leave Wembley for the final and the big day out!

Lionel Messi, take a bow. Fabregas was shocking. Though to be fair, nobody measures up in a comparison with the little magician.

Barca are through. They seemed to make hard work of it, but Barca and the Spanish in general have a habit of winning tight matches.

So the best 4 teams in Europe make the semis in the end. Messi not fully fit but still world class.

I agree, and not just for tradition's sake and giving Wembley a bit more prestige – Wembley is a pain to get to from elsewhere in the country, as well as been pricey in terms of ticketing and travel.

For this particular tie, you'd think a Midlands ground would be ideal – Villa Park for example. Looking at the fixture I'm sure Wigan supporters will fancy their chances of progressing, so I reckon more than a few will be gambling on just going to the final to save themselves a fair bit of cash.

There was the ridiculous situation of both Manchesters City and United having to travel there to play each other a couple of seasons back, when the north of the country isn't exactly short of suitable venues. Madness.

Friday will be most interesting. Either way, we'll almost certainly have a German team in the finals. I already made up my mind, which one of the two I would like to go through more...the less annoying one this season ;)

I also endorse the school of thought that Barcelona, without Messi is just a great team, but with Messi, well the result shows.
Again from the neutrals point of view it was a great game to watch.:)

Agreed. We all know "it's grim 'oop North" ;) and having to travel down south and drink flat beer in a semi final Wigan will be expecting to win probably doesn't appeal to many fans

I think they're probably trying to recoup some of the cost of the new Wembley, but then I'm just cynical

As for Barca v PSG are Barca a bit of a one man team? Some great talent, but until Messi came on, I fancied PSG to go through

I really hope Barca doesn't get away with the win this year. I envy the club model and everything, but I would like someone else get away with the win. So that Europe is not dominated with one team that all the great players want to go to. I like when 4-5 different clubs are almost as good as each other so that it doesn't get too predictable. Rooting for Bayern ;)

On the other hand, by keeping matches at Wembley we're stopping southerners from heading north and spoiling things up here. So the current system has at least one plus point. ;)

It should also be noted that due to the TV scheduler pleasing teatime kick off, Latic fans won't be able to get to the station in time to make the last train back up to Wigan. So if you want to go to the semi-final and you want to travel by train you need to factor in the cost of accommodation too.
