He ruled out moving for Moutinho and M'Villa yesterday though. In other news Dempsey is refusing to play for Fulham because he wants to move to Anfield. But Anfield have yet to renew their interest.

Also, Rio Ferdy has been fined £45k for black-on-black racism.

I'm not happy about the Dempsey situation. I don't like the way it's turned out so far; Fulham has been good for Dempsey and I want to see him playing. It's disrespectful to the Fulham fans for him to go on strike and to see Liverpool stringing him along in order to get him on the cheap doesn't sit well with me.

I don't think Wenger is cheap because he wants to be, I think it's because he has to be, and is very professional about it. He won't criticise his board, in the same way he won't criticise his players.

I agree. He operates under constraints dictated from above, and he refuses to blame either the players or the board.

Also RVP is now officially a United player. Yay...

Not the most dignified exit. ;)

Agreed about Dempsey but he's never come across as the type of player who cares about 'appropriateness' to me. Rogers may be stalling because he wants Tello and Sahin instead. Problem is rumours are saying Tello has decided to stay at Barca, and Wenger is stepping up efforts to land Sahin because of Song's exit.

Speaking of Song, The Metro and Talksport are saying Song told Wenger he wants to leave, and has agreed personal terms with Barca and waved goodbye to the Emirates. Deal is reportedly worth £17m.

3 untested players in, and 2 of our best players last season out. But hey, £5m profit in the process. Cha-ching!

I can't wait till Darren Dein's client list completely evaporates from the Emirates. This guy has been responsible for single-handedly orchestrating our Exodus.

The transfers are all linked, of course. Dempsey may be a plan 'B' if we don't get Tello and/or Sahin. But the longer it drags on the worse it is for most parties.

The problem is, Dempsey is quoted as saying he wants Champions League football. Jurgen Klinsmann and Martin Jol both seem to have confirmed this in their own statements on the matter over that last few months. But Liverpool is not going to be playing in the Champions League for at least a year, and probably not for three or more in my opinion. Dempsey is 29. As I see it, unless he goes to a team playing in the CL this season he's not going to get CL football.

There is also something else we're forgetting which is he wants more money

True, though that is not a motivation unique the Dempsey deal.

We have World Cup qualifiers coming up against Jamaica in a month or so. I hope Dempsey's head clears by the time we need him for international duty - but I'm not holding my breath.

I am very ready for the Premier League to start. Columbus is about to play 6 games in 18 days that will likely decide the season for us (playoffs or no?), and Liverpool are actually going to play a meaningful match tomorrow at 6:30am local time.

I was excited but now i'm in a state of apathy.

Utd will win the title (Vidic and Scholes are back), City 2nd, Chelski 3rd (with Di Matteo fired in May or in Jan), Arsenal/Spurs/Newcastle/Liverpool will scramble for 4th.

Madrid will win the Champions League.

The rest i don't really care about.

I broadly agree with you, but I think Man City will win the league again. They have a better, deeper squad except for their defense (which is still good enough and deeper, however). Mancini is no Ferguson but he's good enough. United will finish 2nd or 3rd. Both Manchester sides will have a much stronger showing in the CL this time around, barring injury crises.

I don't think Liverpool have a chance of finishing any better than 5th-6th, even though the squad is improved over last season (providing we keep Agger). The top half of the table may be very competitive this season. But we might go deep in the Europa League. Which means very little.

Another reason to add to my list of disliking Clint Dempsey. He pulled this same temper tantrum while he was in New England and pissed and moaned to the media about wanting to go to England until MLS sold him. Also another reason to dislike is this throws a monkey wrench into my Prem Fantasy league team.

He is a confidence player and can certainly get himself into a sulk. If that happens, he's not going to play well for awhile. Which could hurt my fantasy squad as well.

Dempsey and Song not in their respective squads for today's matches.

EDIT: Crystal clear now Wenger must move for another striker. Cazorla head and shoulders above his team-mates. Deserves better. Surprisingly Gervinho played arguably his best today.

EDIT: Liverpool still have a lot of work to do.

QPR looked terrible today but Dyer scored 2 and so far is my leading points earner in fantasy.

A catastrophic start to the season. Fortunately only Joe Cole sustained a significant injury - he needs to be gone anyway. Borini quiet, Downing ineffectual. Suarez did not finish his chances but created a lot. Liverpool should have scored at least once in the first half.

West Brom are a big physical side with pace. Liverpool were physically dominated by West Brom to an embarrassing degree. Gera's goal was excellent, nothing Liverpool could do about it.

On the penalties, Shane Long sold both of them very hard. The first was a penalty, the second arguable in my opinion. But Phil Dowd had a couple shiny new cards burning a hole in his shirt pocket and he was eager to play with his new toys. Long's penalty was laughably bad.

Horrible. It can hardly get worse, right?

It's alright for you, you don't work with a load of Baggies fans. They'll be intolerable on Monday morning, especially as Wolves got beat by dirty Leeds. :(
The council here implemented an employment law a few years back that any business over a certain size has to employ set numbers of Leeds fans. All I hear about at the moment are take overs and Colin's latest signing.

Everton complete the signing of Kevin Mirallas on a 4 year deal. Don't think he'll be ready to play against United tomorrow maybe a late sub, but look forward to seeing what he can do.

Hazard and Oscar seem to have hit the ground running. Still don't fancy them against Barry, Scholes, Kompany and Vidic though.

Chelsea still playing Munich style football. Defend defend defend then counter...against Wigan. Welcome to the EPL.

Well to be fair Wigan can be plucky.

SOTON doing well this far. Staying with City and working hard.

EDIT: Oops I might've jinxed it.

EDIT: I wonder if we can swoop for Lambert. Brilliant goal.

EDIT: Haha...cracking game.
